A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....07-10-06....Military Monday ~ Tribute to LadyX
Billie, The Mayor

A Few of FR's Finest
....Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I could no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I had been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that didn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why we've created a place for just that. This is a friendly room in JimRob's house where FReeper FRiends can gather every day and just say hello if that's all they want to do.
There's more of course. We sometimes feature different FReepers, with a little background information on who they are and what makes them who they are, along with a few photos you might not have seen on other threads; sometimes others write an essay for us to post as the feature for the day; sometimes our presentation is a human interest story found elsewhere that you might not have read; sometimes special holiday threads; but whatever the topic of the day, it is always with FR's Finest in mind and that is YOU!
If you would like to be featured, or would like to see someone else featured, please send me a private FR mail.
Every Monday we will post the photos of FR's Military Personnel that I have collected and put into groups; these will be available to view through a link the remainder of the week - every day just a click away. :)   If you would like to add a photo of yourself or a loved one in the military, past or present, please let me know; I will hold it until I have enough for a new group.
Thank you, and please have fun with us...every day! ~ Billie

Your Mom was soooo proud of you and spoke of you often! What a void she's left on FR.

Thanks a million for the delightful video.

I am just fine. I love the Summer. Hope you are doing well too.

I always expected to see something from LadyX when I signed on to the Finest threads, so it's a shock that her posts have ended.

I was really in awe of all the bounty that poured forth from her. What a wonderful lady.

Well, Luvvy... sweet dreams.

A couple of years ago, I sent a VHS tape to WVNan and LadyX. The tape included a musical drama written and produced at our church.

The title of this particular drama was "This Side of Heaven". Briefly, the story revolves around a young music minister's search for music to use in worship service. As he thumbs through the hymnal, he falls asleep and begins a dream where he awakens in Hymn Writer's Corner of Heaven. As the story unfolds, hymn writers tell their own story how each wrote their hymns.

One hymn in particular was "It Is Well", written by Horatio Spafford upon reaching the spot where his children vanished in a shipwreck while crossing the Atlantic.

"It Is Well, With My Soul..." I feel may have been Maggie's thoughts over the years, and we here at The Finest have been blessed with her presence - this side of heaven.

((((((( WVNan ))))))) My heart goes out to you in your great, great loss. Thank you so much for keeping us all updated during Maggie's illness and for sharing your special memories. God bless and strengthen your heart for these days. When you go through the deep waters He has promised: they will not overflow you.

Thank you, sweet Maj. I just took the link DaBearOne posted to that pic and "Home free!" was what came to mind as I gazed on that vision. I thought the picture was so pretty; I just did the img src for his link, is all. I couldn't get the idea of "Home free!" out of my head and then I remembered a song I've heard on the radio and it seemed so fitting too.

Dear Maggie: Home Free Eternally! Praise the Lord.

We loved our LadyX. I am reading every word.

Same here; I don't want to miss a single moment or any precious memories. Dave, I really appreciated your tribute (some posts back) and it's got me thinking maybe I will share some more. I was thinking on Sunday about how our Lady Maggie was Jesus here - 1 John 4:16 says plainly, "He that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God and God in him." And Jesus told us that there is no greater love than that a man lay down his life for his friends. Maggie did that here all the time: disregarding her own pain and trials so that she could be here to help others with theirs. I bet she did it all day long wherever she was because she was so full of God - she just didn't give any heed to the cross she bore, but reached out to help bear the weight of the crosses we all carried. She fulfilled the law of love. So this poem or song came to me and I wrote it down. It's for Maggie; it's what she lived:

Where Love Is, There Thou Art

Hanging on a cross and bleeding
Yet for others interceding
Counting not this pain but theirs
Travailing not in pity but in prayer

To picture Thee in my distress
To help some other in their test
To think not mine but theirs the pain
To comfort them and ease their strain

This is love: Here Thee I see
When another's weight counts more to me
When other woes than mine transpire
To burden me, to bid me higher

To so reach, Your throne ascend
On bended knee, but for a friend
This grace I ask, for Christ I seek
And see in such my Savior meek

Where Love is, there Thou art
This my aim, this my part:
To bring Thee near, O Love Divine,
Through this willing vessel You made mine.

All three versions that you posted were beautiful, but the last one by the man who sounded like Willie Nelson was absolutely beatiful. Thank you.
