“Democrats tear into Fred Thompson”

Should read;

“Democrats (and Hunter supporters) tear into Thompson.

Love that paragraph!

FDT was a lobbyist and supports the pardoning of Scooter Libby. His campaign will hide the truth from America.

Democratchik QED.

Fred is the only candidate who can run as political “outsider” and I think that may a BIG help next election. The public seems fed up with both parties.

I am not usually one to subscribe to the “he’s got them scared” argument ... but I don’t believe I’ve ever seen media and Democrat attacks start BEFORE a candidate has entered the REPUBLICAN Primary. They’re hitting him BEFORE the other Republicans have even started hitting him.

Personally ... I think Thompson may scare the hell out of Democrats like no other current Republican candidate does. 100% Conservative (unlike McCain, Giuliani), electable w/ name-recognition (unlike Tancredo, Hunter, Brownback, etc), eloquent (unlike our current President), credible, persuasive, authoritative, comfortable in front of cameras ...

I like Hunter (but virtually anonymous) ... Romney’s OK (the flip-flopping’s going to kill him) ... Giuliani isn’t a complete catastrophe (social conservatives won’t come along) ... McCain’s already flamed out (Immigration) ...

... Fred Thompson is the guy.

I agree — we believe in limitation of government. How, therefore, is it wrong to say that bad legislation was stopped?

I’m actually at the point where I believe that if all legislation was stopped, it would be a good thing. It’s dangerous when you have people who suddenly become experts at everything simply because of a vote.

What Liberal Dummies have to fear is themselves and what they stand for. Liberalism is a mental disorder that is being recognized by more and more of the American people.

I saw it. He did fumble, but oh well. It happens. Not a big deal. Even if he gives the answer he gave, it’d be nice to have something to offer up as a positive answer. I’m betting he will next time.

Fred Thompson is NOT a political outsider by any stretch of the imagination. If he goes that route, he risks losing credibility, which is the key to his campaign. He is what is he: a long-time lobbyist and a 2-term Senator that is best known as an actor. He should play to his strengths.

“That’s Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson. For years, acting wasn’t the ‘Law & Order’ star’s profession — it was a hobby. In the real world, Thompson has made a fortune in a decades-long career as a Washington lobbyist.”

ROTFLMAO!!

I think they got this one backwards. It seems that lobbying was his hobby, and acting the way he paid the bills. Sen. Thompson probably made more money in one season of “Law and Order” than in 20 years of lobbying.

Knocks on Fred:

1. Just because he looks like central casting's idea of American male leader doesn't make him one. 2. Women like him too much. 3. He hasn't slapped his name on a bunch of big government legislation 4. He worked as lobbyist and thus isn't an "outsider" like...Hillary!

Ok I can see why the Rats are nervous.

I have been thinking about.

You just get the feeling that this election will bring about something different. I dont think this country has turned its back on conservatism at all. The good folks out here in the heartland are still the same good folks, generally moderate to conservative.

It is the Republican party that has fractured and turned against conservative in recent years.

In many ways we are in a situation a lot like the Dems were in 1968. We need to learn from that. It will take a larger than life candidate to win this election. and I think Fred is that guy.

I am afraid if we just pick a run of the mill politician, It will be our version of Hubert Humphrey.
