Would you be in favor of Amnesty if the borders were truly secure?

The defeat of the amnesty bill is indeed a great day for America. The noble concept of a "Government by the people, for the people" has worked exactly the way our founding fathers intended. Our public serpents have heard the voice of their constituents and acted according to their wishes by defeating this train wreck of a bill.

In the absence of an actual intellectual argument, proponents of amnesty relied on the lowest common denominator of civil public discourse...when you have no facts to back you up, just call your opponent names like doodyhead, racist, bigot, redneck or nativist.

Apparently the elitist left wingers who were eager for new Democratic voters and the elitist Wall Street Journal right wingers who were frothing at the mouth at the idea of a cheap labor pool were shocked. They were used to having their way while the unwashed masses were busy paying attention to Paris Hilton, American Idol or Anna Nicole Smith.

Americans told them in no uncertain terms: We are not stupid. We are performing our civic duty by paying attention to our government. The message is so simple that even a retard can understand it...PROVE TO US THAT YOU CAN ENFORCE THE EXISTING LAWS BEFORE PASSING NEW LAWS THAT YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY ENFORCE.

They claimed that "we haven't read the bill and don't understand it. There are too many moving parts." No. We've read the bill. They haven't. Sure there were some good parts: ending chain migration, increasing the number of visas available for highly skilled employees.

This is certainly not over.

Speaking strictly for myself, I have nothing personally against people trying to come to America to better their lives. Besides the felony crime of breaking into a sovereign nation illegally, the only other "crime" many of these illegals have committed is mowing our lawn, landscaping our yard and picking our fruit. We don't hate anyone.

My parents were first generation LEGAL immigrants. Many of your parents, grandparents and great grandparents came here for the same reason.

We all understand that. What people like Bob Menendez and Mel Martinez don't understand is that when people came here at the turn of the last century there was no welfare state. Come one, come all. If you fail, don't look to the Gubmint to bail you out and provide social services at the taxpayers expense. We are in a different world.

So I am curious and our elected public serpents who were shocked by the outcry from their constituents are too. President Bush is a "lame duck" supposedly. He certainly won't accomplish any new legislative initiatives. However, he still has the power as President to see to it that existing laws are enforced. That means build the fence that was authorized and funded in October of 2006.

Then come back to us and talk about Comprehensive Immigration Reform. If the border were truly secure, would you be in favor of a similar bill?

There was a story out today about an illegal family who had been here 10 years. They did not speak English, and through the reporter talked about being afraid they will be deported.

We're supposed to feel sorry for them. That's what the liberal media does...emote, in the absence of reason. I have a heart and I do hate to see people suffer like that. But this is like the proverbial defendant who kills his parents and then begs the court for mercy because they are an orphan.

You came here illegally.

Well now they’ve just made everything worse. Even if they secure the border now, it’ll be a fight to get those people amnesty because everyone is pi**ed off about not only that damn bill but the marches too.

NO

BUILD THE WALL

DEPORT THEM ALL

Once we get the 30 million criminal illegal aliens out, see where we are with employment, services, medical care, disease levels, infrastructure utilization, public education etc… in other words once we get THE NIGHTMARE OUT OF THIS NATION, then and only then we will actually know what the labor needs will be.

Until then there will be plenty of jobs for American Citizens in our brand new industry that can’t be shipped offshore by greasy little hotshot MBA’s looking to shave another 2/10ths off the bottom line. What will that industry be?

DEPORTATION CO-ORDINATION and MANAGEMENT

BTW — check the US Code — illegal entry is not a felony — it’s a misdemeanor — maximum 6 months and a $500 fine. Visa overstay isn’t even a crime. So, “felony crime” isn’t correct.

No!

Those that are here illegally must return — or be returned — to Mexico.

However, I would favor those that apply for LEGAL citizenship (under currant law) and who demonstrate a willingness to learn English and become an American... a LOYAL American renouncing foreign interest — the later something certain of our indigenous leaders seem incapable of doing.

If the border really, truly were made secure, sure. Fire up the citizenships. We’re missing about 20 million Americans from liberal abortion policies.

It's poetic justice that you said that and your screen name is Cringing. That was my reaction when I first heard a lib (can't remember who) say that we need illegals here because our population is aging and there wouldn't be enough citizens to pay for the Social Security benefits of the baby boomers.

I cringed. Liberal logic. They were OK with the killing of tens of millions of American citizens who should be here today (but were killed prior to birth)...Now they are sad, not because they allowed them to be killed but because those American citizens are not here to fund their Socialist programs. Now we need illegal immigrants to pay FICA and FUTA.

Can anyone explain the thinking of left wing liberal loons?

“It’s more like the dim-witted caretaker opened the front gate while the owner was away, and trespassers entered, tentatively at first. They knew they did not have permission, but no one did anything about it, and they began to feel more at home, even doing little chores around the place. Until one day when the owners returned, and reclaimed their rights.

They are not thieves, and were in a sense lured in by the belief that the powers that be really wanted them, but they were wrong, because in this country, the powers that be are not on Wall Street or on Capitol Hill, but reside in our people. Now the owners have returned.”

EXCELLENT POST!

If the border were truly secure, would you be in favor of a similar bill?

No. For one reason. It's allowing a massive influx of immigrants from one culture/race. If they were to consider a quota taking in people from all around the world then I would consider it.

Here is what I proprose then. Since we have an estimated 11 million illegals here now, most of whom (I'll say 8 million) are from Mexico/Central America/South America (M/CA/SA) and we assume the rest are from other parts of the world, we need to balance that out? Right? That leaves a differential of 8 million.

So. First, we secure our southern border and northern border. Then, taking up to 3 million legal immigrants, who meet our qualifications, per year from these other ethnic regions around the world. (Note: we are not taking 3 million each, but a total of three million each year till they reach that 8 million goal per ethinc region):

1. The European Union/Great Britain

2. Eastern Europe

3. Russia/The Balkan States

4. China

5. Western Asia

6. Southern Asia

7. The Middle East

8. The African Tribal Nations

9. South Africa

10. New Zealand/Australia/South Pacific

11. The Eskimo/Aleut/Northern Peoples

12. The Carribean

That's the best I can come up with. Any more?

In the meantime (you knew there was one of those, didn't you?) we put a moratorium on immigration from the M/CA/SA region until that quota of 8 million from each of those other regions is met bringing in a limit of 3 million per year regardless of the makeup.

That means we have to bring in 96 million from those other 12 regions. Dividing that by 3 million means that the moratorium on the M/CA/SA region would last 32 years.

I could go for that.

Thanks greatly for your post. I feel it is a confirmation of a post I put out a few weeks ago. However, you have added something more and better than mine....to wit “If they don’t leave, then they will be subject to arrest, fines, forefeiture of property such as cars that they have acquired here without paying our taxes. They will get to stay in tent cities while their cases are processed, and then they will get sent back deep into the interior of their home countries.”

I think the illegals are smart enough to see the handwriting on the wall and would self deport. Doing so would still leave them with a clean criminal record. Put yourself in their position......would you self deport, or wait around for the hassel that arrest and forfeiture would entail ?

I think it would be “Adios City”.

“The immigration bill failed because the politicians in Washington are out of touch with the American people. The voice of the people is loud and clear - secure the border, enforce the law and no special deal for permanent residency or citizenship for illegals. America will always welcome legal immigration, but as a nation we also insist on the rule of law.”

No! You cannot have open borders or free for all immigration along with a welfare state. If they and their anchor babies were not allowed all the freebies here there is no way they could make it on their lower incomes.
Take away every single freebie, including their anchor babies and free emergency medical care and I might think about it.
Til then, no way.

Add a 4th - no welfare or other entitlements or EITC until sworn in as Naturalized citizen

Since most have dual citizenship anyway I would add at least 5 years onto that from the date they become citizens. If after all that time they can’t make it here without government help they can still go back to their country of origin.

Hell no. If you go through the immigration bill in it’s entirety, you’d see provisions that will make you quite queasy.

Hundreds of millions in gubbamint payout to illegals in the form of earned income tax credit. What a deal...pay no taxes, no back taxes, yet apply for the earned income tax credit.

This would allow low income families just given amnesty, to receive thousands in tax refunds. It’s madness.
