Obama: ‘I’m Not Going to Take Your Guns Away’

The Obama campaign talks a lot about new ideas and expanding the political map, but in the swing state of Pennsylvania, which the campaign has focused on almost exclusively since the Democratic convention, old-school issues still rise to the fore.

The latest example came Friday during a small political event at SCHOTT North America Inc., a glass factory in Duryea, Pa., where even a hand-picked crowd threw Barack Obama a curve ball.

A woman in the crowd told Obama she had “heard a rumor” that he might be planning some sort of gun ban upon being elected president. Obama trotted out his standard policy stance, that he had a deep respect for the “traditions of gun ownership” but favored measures in big cities to keep guns out of the hands of “gang bangers and drug dealers’’ in big cities “who already have them and are shooting people.”

I mean what does a sportsman look like? Did these guys come to work dressed in camo and their orange hat? How would Barak know?

I wonder, exactly, how he recognized that they were "sportsmen" - were they carrying guns? Not likely... were they wearing orange vests (maybe they were Hillary supporters... PUMA and all that)? Did they have 'coon-skin caps? (can I say " 'coon-skin"?) Does he just "know them on sight"? Hard to recognize a sportsman... or a sportswoman... Maybe they just looked "clingy" (or "sporty", my wife says...)

I was in a plant a couple months back and everyone was dressed up and everybody watching everything, and I asked what was up. They said Harry Reid was due in for a visit that day, so I went about my business. Well, Harry never made it to the part of the plant where I was working which made me glad, because I’m sure I would have said something like “I’d call you a C..k s....r, but that would suggest you serve a useful purpose!”, and then the Secret Service would shoot me or something. So I was glad he never came back where I was.

Clearly he does not understand the true problem, which is the 2nd amendment is a fundamental right.

Excellent point. Any politician worth his salt would instinctively refer to the sanctity of the 2nd amendment, not to the lack of votes in Congress. This shows not only a lack of respect for the Constitution but a fundamental arrogance that believes that a majority in Congress can nullify a constitutional right.

Close. He's against concealed carry, semi-autos of all kinds, virtually all rifle ammunition used for hunting, etc. and his for any local infringements.
