Ads proclaiming, "Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness' sake," will appear on Washington, D.C., buses starting next week and running through December. The American Humanist Association unveiled the provocative $40,000 holiday ad campaign Tuesday.
In lifting lyrics from "Santa Claus is Coming to Town," the Washington-based group is wading into what has become a perennial debate over commercialism, religion in the public square and the meaning of Christmas.
"We are trying to reach our audience, and sometimes in order to reach an audience, everybody has to hear you," said Fred Edwords, spokesman for the humanist group...

But I understand that the majority don't want to have anything to do with God. And in the end, He'll give them their hearts desire.
From your lips to God's ears ;-)
Based on last Tuesday's little exercise in democracy, we're all too soon going to enjoy the fruits of moral relativism.
They don’t hate religion - they hate Cbristianity.
Sin is what brings destruction on a nation. The Bible is clear about what brings prosperity, and there are several things America is turning it’s back on:
1. To Abraham (Israel) God said “those who bless you will I bless and those who curse you will I curse.”
2. Thou shalt not murder (abortion)
3. you will reap what you sow
4. In Nehemiah indifference to sin in Israel ruined it.
5. One sin leads to another
6. we are not saved by works but by grace
7. our righteousness is as filthy rags
Being good will not get anyone a better life, because without faith it is impossible to please God. This is God’s world, and although we are battling the Devil in it, it will be God who destroys it and takes the Christians to heaven...and then establishes his rule on the earth as it should have been before man disobeyed.
Science has proven the Bible prophecies correct...see The Horizon Project at www.thehorizonproject.com
Well put... I understand your point now.
Gracias.
Yup, if,heaven forbid, there was no God, someone would surely need to invent one
I find most Atheists to be decent, reasonable people. It's the "Anti-theists" who tend to be total, intolerable pricks.
That's just my observation.
Apathy is what brings destruction on a nation.
Sin is mostly fun.
Without God, what is “good”?
"The Peoples Front of Judea, The Peoples Judean Front, the Popular Front..."
That would be fun! A nice website everyone could visit, meetings, marches, protests.
Your meetings, marches and protests would be rather odd affairs with only you in attendance.
Having excluded all of the groups usually considered the pool from which you could expect to recruit members I think you would have to elect yourself to all of the chapters officer positions.
On a positive note you would not have to waste a lot of your time campaigning for these offices, executive committee meetings would be brief and civil, you would not have to spend much on postage to send out the chapters news letter and best of all no worries about collecting delinquent dues.
Welcome :-)
As if it starts with man, or that one tiny blade of grass called "me."
Aha an unregenerated soul. Sin may be fun for a season, but it’s judgment is not. Good luck with that.
Apathy too is a sin.
Ho! Ho! Ho! "Merry (fill in a personal feel good)"
There are invented God’s everywhere, even money is a God. However there is on one Creator.
Science has proven him who he is, and the Bible correct. Check out www.thehorizonproject.com
I guess “good” is whatever makes you happy at the moment.
In their worldview.
Muslims think killing Jews is good. They think they’re doing the world a favor.
Good is a relative concept apart from the word of God.
“Well at least they’ll replace those gross ads that have been on all the buses lately - two naked gay guys cuddling with the words, “Show your love, get tested together.””
Are you kidding me? From one form of Godless to another...
