Democrats have declared war on the Catholic Church, with new laws that threaten to bankrupt Catholic schools, hospitals, charities and parishes. Thus far, the worst attacks have come in New York.

“We’ve taken a lot of hits this year,” Dennis Poust, spokesman for the New York State Catholic Conference, tells Newsmax. “Outside the government, the Catholic Church is the largest provider of health, human services and education in [New York]. But some legislators are so driven by malice that they’re willing to see our charities and schools go under.”

55% of Roman Catholics voted for 0, why attack your base?

No problem. NY Catholics will still vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.

Aside from life issues, the Pope himself is pretty much a globalist economic socialist.

You beat me too it - but I have the answer... Because the Dems know that 55% of Catholics will continue to vote for them no matter what they do.

Dictators and their rubberstamp legislators do not like competition to their dogmas.

Pfleger does NOT represent a majority of Catholic priests. The baby boomer priests and those in their 60s right now tend to be liberal. Younger priests are far more conservative.

Is the Pope conservative on ANYTHING other than ancient Church doctrines and life issues?

On economics, the Pope might as well be George Soros.

“NY Catholics will still vote overwhelmingly for Democrats.”

You are right. I used to take the bus in the morning with a guy who was in the Knights of Columbus. He voted for Zero and called me a rascist because I said I would not vote for him. I told him I had a problem voting for someone who advocated infanticide. He told me that conservatives just made that stuff up, and Zero did not. Go figure.

In the Northeast, ethnic Catholics still have a love for “good ole boy” Catholics in Name Only like the accursed Cuomo family and the even more repulsive Kennedy’s.

Outside of the Northeast though, in places like Ohio, the Catholics are a bit more sane.

Catholics are great social conservatives but largely fail in the fiscal conservatism category.

Most fall for the liberation theology delusions.

The Pope doesn’t set economic policy, nor insist that Catholics buy his ideas in this regard.
It seems to me this Pope has chosen to confront the liberation theology and move his priests back to orthodoxy, at which time I expect a great uptick in faith and vocations.

You’ve obviously never read anything by the Pope - our current one, that is. JPII was unfortunately very socialist in his outlook, but BXVI is not.

He simply demands moral accountability from any INDIVIDUAL, regardless of the economic system of the country they live in. That’s not socialism.
