Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

Actually personal weapons can be held on most bases and besides that most bases right now only check your id and eyeball the vehicle passengers. If you are in an expected delivery or some other service vehicle they won’t normally do an extensive check but that might change depending on these circumstances.

Easy on Steve Centanni. First, his supposition was within reason when the early reports indicated a single shooter on base. Second, Centanni knows something about post traumatic stress. He was kidnapped by armed Palestinian gunmen and held captive for a week while on assignment in Gaza in 2006.
