Twelve people have been killed and 31 wounded in a shooting spree at a Texas military base by what officials believe was possibly carried out by an Army officer.

The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

The shooter was killed and two other suspects, who are also soldiers, have been apprehended, Lt. Gen. Robert W. Cone said.

The gunman used two handguns, Cone said. He wasn't sure if the shooter reloaded the weapons during the attack.

Gen. Scales saying the gate guards are civilians, and apparently you can get on the base with a driver’s license and car registration. That doesn’t sound right to me, but I swear that’s what I heard.

Our local base, Brooks, did that too before it was privatized, they would register you as a visitor based on your ID, although IIRC, the guards were military. Same setup now with civilians. Surprisingly, building security actually has gotten more secure since the city took over the base.

KCEN is sticking with 7 dead and 20 wounded, but I think a couple of other stations have also said 9 are dead. A few victims may have died at the hospital.

They are still reporting on shots fired at soldiers residence so we may have a 3rd shooter. However, KCEN says that is a rumor....ah piss...the base's emergency sirens just started up again.

Too many gunmen. If it was a lone-wolf deal, I could say this. But this attack seems to be far too organized. I am going to go with terrorism until more info becomes available.
