I am very happy for her. The toll it would have taken on her is so much greater than that that would have been taken on any other candidate. She can still have her family and her life, and not subject them to the ugliness of a campaign.

Furthermore, she has found a way to have great influence through social media, and if she’s not running, she doesn’t have to compromise her positions. She can still be very influential for us!! Don’t despair.

Only the young children will do that, before you issue them cellphones. They’re not much good in battle.

Nowadays they will tell you to take a hike...

Going through the thread...your comment is spot on. I was a Palin supporter up until about 2 months ago and after the debate where she disparaged Rick Perry. But I’ve seen how others were treated and the nastiness directed toward other FReepers. It was disgusting and like you said, opened my eyes...not in a good way.

You need to grow up.

How would you like your daughter being screamed at “your mother’s a whore”?
How would you like to put yourself and your family - down to your Down’s Syndrome baby - through the total despicable trashing she has endured. And then something like 70% of republicans say they don’t want you to run. How would you like that?

I’m glad for her contributions, glad for the conservatives she helped elect and hope she will help get more elected. But I wouldn’t blame her if she just spent her winters in Arizona and her summers in Alaska and forgot about the haters and the ungrateful Republicans.

One thing is for sure: she owes you nothing and she owes me nothing.

Here she is, in her own words:

Q: When is a good time? Do you have a timeline?

Palin: I have said that that August/September timeframe is important for logistical and legal reasons to jump in there, but…

Q: So by next month?

Palin: I think that just practically speaking that has to be kind of a drop dead time. Also, in fairness to supporters, who are standing on the timeline, and this is what I have told Todd over and over again, I don’t want to be seen as or perceived as stringing people along, asking supporters, ‘Oh don’t just jump in there on someone else’s bandwagon because I may jump in, so hold off a little bit.’ That is not fair to them. After another month or two goes by, they need to know who it is that they can jump behind. Now more than ever, everybody has got to get involved in this 2012 election. They need to get out there and campaign for their chosen candidates, its all the more reason to hurry up and decide.

A few moments later, there was this exchange:

Q: Will you know by the next time you are here in Iowa whether you will be in, over Labor Day?

Palin: I doubt it. By the next time I am here by September 3? I don’t know if within the next couple of weeks I will be ready for an announcement or not.

Q: So the end of September is no longer a viable deadline?

Palin: No, he was asking about my next visit here on September 3, if I would be ready for an announcement September 3. And I said I don’t know if I would be ready by September 3.

Q: So the end of September would still be your timetable?

Palin: That is still a possibility for a timetable. Yes, definitely.

>>Freedumb you have never been anything but a steaming pile here, on all subjects, not just Palin.<<

Yep, no bile or hate there.

Can’t you just go away and make FR a better place?

Even when you are wrong you are bad at it.

If you didn’t serve as a great example of just how low, hateful and stupid humanity can be, you would have no purpose to exist at all.

Go away.

Forever.

She did not quit Putz, you cannot quit if you never throw your hat in the ring. You keep blowing smoke out your butt against a decent Women and it reallly, reallly makes SP supporters dislike your candidate even more. You just lied, but it is what you do best. Go to bed, it is way past your bedtime.

I saw...and I don’t like it when any of us gang up on the others.

I love the freedoms that America holds out for all of us, but we do need to remain civil in our discussions.

I hope you never saw me do that. If I did, I am very sorry.

Had she run, the key reason I would have considered voting for someone else in the primaries was the unbounded visciousness of some of her supporters. It’s an illogical response I know, but I’ve never seen such unrelenting, hair-trigger nastiness.

So you palinstas can KMA while you are dining on crow. As 4P pointed out, you contributed to the darkest and most dismal times in FR history. Your hate was only surpassed by your denial and complete lack of decorum.

Hopefully this was a once in a generation type deal. We were dealing with a cult of personality situation. Many of us that pointed out Palin was not likely to run, had made serious mistakes if she had any presidential ambitions, and was not infallible were attacked by the Saint Sarah fanatics with pure venom and hate. So it is understandable that you are bitter (and I do remember some of the unfair attacks against you), but remember that ultimately everyone here is on the same side of the political struggle - even if some aren't always the nicest of people.

For too long I think many of Palin's supporters were simply trying to tear down anyone in the race thinking it would be better because they were sure Sarah would run. Now that this unpleasantness is behind us, I am hopeful that now that we know the presidential field we can get down to the business of fairly and reasonably vetting the candidates without all the viciousness.

I do not disagree with you — I think key decisions gave a glimpse to Palin’s priorities — for instance, endorsement of Mccain and silence when he turned on the tea party. These things should have given even the most naive follower a clue. Instead, her supporters rationalized and covered her missteps—seemingly arguing that she could, in fact, do no wrong. It became delusional. Respectfully.

Huh? Wha?

I was having the craziest dream, that Steve Jobs had died, NASA had retired the space shuttle, some fat RINO from Jersey had been dancing around about running for President, that there had been an earthquake in Washington D.C. and up and down the east coast, that some guy named Herman Cain was in the GOP race, running ahead of Governor Rick Perry of Texas (when did he get in?!?), and that socialist, abortion-supporting used car salesman Mitt-Witt Romney was still in the race, and THEN?!?

I hear someone's voice on the radio waking me up, saying that Sarah Palin is NOT running for President?!?

What ... The ... F ... ?!? Holy Jumpin Juneau!!! You gotta be kiddin' me?

Then I read a few posts where it sounds like poster Gargantua is about to slit his wrists (don't do it Gargy, we need your blogging skills in this fight against 0bama, c'mon man, get a grip on yourself!)

OMG, you mean all that was NOT a dream?!?

Damn Toto, we're sure NOT in Kansas anymore.

Sign me up for Herman Cain folks!

Yeah she did. So sad. And she doesn’t even realise what she has done. She thinks her supporters will still go see her in droves, when she has yet again, quit! She is no longer relavent.

I am actually very disappointed in her, in that she strung all of her supporters along for so long. I knew she wouldn’t run; but she should have been up front about it, instead of teasing and playing this out for financial gain.

I betcha’ Steve Bannon isn’t too happy he made that film now. What a thing to do to him!

Let’s put it this way, dear lady: I respect your governor, but he’s neither my first choice nor my second.

A lot of people — myself included — are projecting our frustrations onto Mrs. Palin. However, even though we both have to live in Baraq’s world, it’s a hell of a lot tougher financially on me and my family than it is for her. She could have helped fix that problem for me and for a lot of Americans just like me.

It’s a damn, crying shame. But she has her reasons.
