Mitt approached Santorum, Newt about possible late entrants [BROKERED CONVENTION ON THEIR MIND]

On Saturday, March 3, Romney stood with Santorum and Gingrich on the floor of a shuttered DHL warehouse in Wilmington, Ohio, ....The three candidates discussed the nominating process. Romney raised the possibility of an unvetted candidate getting into the race and spoke of the perils such a scenario presented for the party. Not surprisingly, the other two assented and each agreed that he would reserve his support for someone now in the race. R.C. Hammond, a spokesman for Gingrich, said the consensus that emerged from the conversation was that the Republican nominee was among “the four of us” and not an outsider. Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior Romney adviser, agreed with that characterization.

It must really hurt their collective egos that it’s clear that NO ONE really wants any of them for our candidate. Everyone’s simply voting against someone ELSE.

So, they want to make sure Sarah doesn’t get a chance. I hope her people are there on the convention floor. For those who are putting Jeb forward, he was our governor and we loved him. Since retiring, he has leaned toward the middle/left. I am quite disappointed in that. He was the best of the Bush family. I did like the Bushes, and I wrote letters asking the Republicans to talk to Bush and support him when he was vilified so thoroughly by the media and democrats from day one after his 2000 election was certified. I even wrote Demint and told him how disappointed I was that all republicans left a good man standing alone and didn’t at least take a stand as a republican and then talk to the president about their concerns. That was unconscionable and the left has taken full advantage of that and driven every good candidate since then to the wall with constant attacks. It worked so well, and we did not fight back. I hope Sarah is put forward as a candidate. The left would go nuts over it, and Obama would crap his pants, as well. The Bush family has been so vilified that many republicans (let’s be honest here) would NOT vote for another one.

Only problem is many of us fell for that crap the last time. Worthless washed up Rino and a fresh conservative face.

They kicked that fresh face in the mud and lost big time.

I am not going to fall for the same trick again.

Nope. Santorum is more than acceptable. Hopefully he will get our nomination and be our next President of the United States. We should be honored to have him represent us.

My dream scenario: a deadlocked convention brings the party together with a Ryan-Rubio ticket that sweeps the election in the fall and secures control of the White House for the next 16 years. President Ryan’s first cabinet appointment is Sarah Palin as Secretary of Energy, and we all live happily ever after.

The only thing standing between you and your dream are the little Republican primary voters.

Absolutely...the national discussion HAS TO BE ELEVATED at some point to address “Liberty versus statism” if Liberty is to prevail. The convention should be a platform to persuade every human being to choose Liberty.

Our situation:

1. Mitt Romney (delegate leader): Obama has been planning atack for months. Romney has no ‘voice’ and no ‘message’. He just really wants to be president. He will lose.

2. Rick Santorum (2nd in delegate count): Probably the one Obama would like to face most. Rick has core values and a geniune conservative message but delivers it poorly. Only those who are in complete agreement with him ‘get it’. He too would lose, most likely badly.

3. Newt Gingrinch (3rd in delegate count): Newt can speak for conservatives best and can mount a national campaign. But he can’t get the nomination, the social conservatives and establishment republicans have blocked him out. (Could win, but mostly will not get the chance.)

4. Ron Paul (4th in delegate count): The only authentic fiscal conservative in the bunch. Would make the most difference as President. Most however do not trust his naviee foreign policy, and what appears to be a world view that does not match reality. (He would be a long shot to win, very long.)

5. Jeb Bush: Solid, and the best of the Bush family. His last name would be real trouble for him, though he has the politcal skill to mount a national campaign. (An underdog, but could win.)

6. Sarah Palin: A true emotional charsmatic leader. Has tremendous upside. Has failed to broaden her appeal by learning more about issues concerning the world in general. Great politcal instincts but lacks knowledge at times. (Would get crucified in the general election and we already have one Christ, we don’t need another.)

7. Chris Christie: A good solid candidate and very tough minded. He is not really a conservative on many issues. He too is a charsmatic leader that would shake things up. (He could win, but would have to have a lot of help by a strong V.P. candidate.)

8. Mitch Daniels: A good solid candidate and another true fiscal conservative, but will not run. He has to have his family behind him. (He could win in a close election, but will not run.)

9. Anyone else: There are other good candidates but they are not ready: Paul Ryan, Marc Rubio and a few others. They will wait and probably should.

What does this mean: It is a very long shot to win in November. We need to pray.

This is strange...: We watched an episode of “Decoding The Past” this weekend. Not sure how accurate these shows are, but the subject of this one was the Bohemian Grove in Calif., where the Bohemian Club meets each year. It’s a creepy and odd thing — a big secret society, all men, peeing on trees, dressing in drag, etc. The rumor is that corporate and political decisions are made there. (Nixon and Reagan allelgedly did some wheeling and dealing there to determine that Nixon would run for President when he did, and that Reagan would wait until later.)

Some old hippie neighbor lady was interviewed and she’s had a a bug up her butt about this for about 30 years. I figure it’s because she’s a whacked-out lib and the majority of Bohemian attendees seem to be conservative. (Although Jimmy Buffet is supposed to be a member, and what’s up with that?)

Maybe the situation at hand will be resolved in July when the weirdos have their next rendezvous. I’m at the point of “whatever”; voters basically have minimal power any longer. Going to the polls seems to be nothing more than a placebo for us conservatives. So much manipulation by our own party, and cheating by the other one.

I agree with most of your assessment on Republican candidates.

Jeb Bush/Daniel ticket might be the most appealing to Republican base. And Daniel might accept that as VP nominee doesn’t have to do much. But not many of us will trust another Bush.

I think at the end the Party have to hold their nose or their breath to let the whole process run by itself at brokered convention because they see the result (Romney damaged good)when they interfere.

Let ‘s hear what our arch enemies talk about Newt:

” Some Democrats believe that Gingrich, a hero of the conservative movement, would excite the party base more than a former liberal-state governor with a history of centrist views. And voters yearning for authenticity may be more open to the voluble and rumpled former House speaker, who frequently discusses his past mistakes and his recent conversion to Catholicism, than to a former equity-fund executive with perfect salt-and-pepper hair.

“He does not carry Wall Street baggage,” said one Democratic strategist working on the Obama re-election effort, speaking on the condition of anonymity to freely discuss his thinking. “He’s really smart. He’s definitely authentic.””

And here is my feeling about Newt:

(I changed my mind and I am staying, too much at stake to walk away. Insult me if you must.)

Maybe, but the problem is that HE thinks he needs to wait. And he may be right. A little more seasoning will helps someone like Paul Ryan. He just gets better and better, watch him grow and develope. Probably our best candidate in the future, even stronger than Marc Rubio who will be really really good soon.

I sure hope you are right. I don’t see it and I am both a social conservative and a fiscal conservative. He is a good man, but will have a real problem broadening his appeal. His true believers will admore him. He also excites the opposition like none of the other candidates. Trust me, that is not a good thing.

I have no desire to insult you. I hope you are right. I am ‘all in’ for Newt myself, but at this point has little hope for the nomination. The convention will be domainated by establishment Republicans and social conservative, the two groups that are blocking Newt right now. Too bad, he really is our best hope. It is funny how our opposition knows it, but we can’t figure it out.
