WASHINGTON – The extraordinarily large number of senior military officials being relieved of duty during the Obama administration – nine generals and flag officers this year alone and close to 200 senior officers over the last five years – is part of the creation of a “compliant officer class,” according to a U.S. Army intelligence official.
Since WND’s ongoing coverage of what some top generals are openly calling a “purge” of senior military officers who run afoul of Obama or his agenda, some military personnel have been speaking out.
According to a veteran Army intelligence official who spoke to WND on condition of anonymity, there is within the armed forces a major concern that a “compliant officer class” is being created by the Obama administration. So much so, he said, that it’s becoming harder and harder to find “senior officers with a pair of balls in there [the military] now that would say no to anything.”

Beyond that, you'd need to seek out and neutralize those who gave the senior officers their illegal orders.
Neither I or the post I responded to said anything about ‘merchant marine’ that I can see. That is confusing the point. My numbers were for Marines, Navy and Army Air Corps (Air Force).
My point is if casualties in WWII make someone a soldier, the Merchies (with great affection) took the highest rate of casualties of any service in WWII.
Since Merchies are civilians, they are not soldiers, that provides a counter example that refutes your assertion that casualties make soldiers.
A specious claim that I asserted such. The poster I replied to insinuated Navy and Air Force personnel weren’t soldiers. I merely showed the combat death among those three branches of ‘soldiers’. Your segue save into merchant marines still is beside the point.

I suggest that the members of the Navy are sailors, not soldiers.
I don’t think the Naval recruiters recruit soldiers.
Yes, typically they are. However, if you go look at the definition and derivation of the word “soldier” you will find it has several meanings, in fact. The derivation is from France circa 1300...essentially “service for pay”.
I used the word in the context of serving ones country in an armed capacity; that applies to other forms of service and specialties that directly or indirectly support armed operations. In my book, they are all ‘soldiers’.
Lastly, I think that there are several special units from both the Navy and the Air Force that would bristle at the thought of not being a ‘soldier’. The SEALs are one, Air Force Special Operations is another (you know the guys that ride in on camels and donkeys to light up a target for the GBUs) - there are many other such units.

That is using centuries old tactics, once you pick off the leader, they are confused, their chain of command is broken.
Our Military is trained differently, They know who the next in the chain of command is, right down to the most lowly PFC. We saw that in WW2. when all that was left were non coms in some situations.

Now some would argue the AF doesn’t qualify because of organization, not its land base, but I wouldn’t go that far.

Like making colonel ever wasn’t political? The military culture in not being shaped by Obama’s purges or secret tribunals; too many career officers have always been lapdogs. It’s no more or less now, though many of the best are retiring so they can retain a shred of their dignity...
