(CNN)Anger over Sandra Bland's death in a Texas jail has boiled over after newly released video showed what happened at the traffic stop that led to her arrest.
Now, many question whether she should have been arrested at all.
The dashcam video shows Texas state Trooper Brian Encinia pulling Bland over July 10 for allegedly failing to use her turn signal. What started as normal conversation gets testy after Encinia asks her to put out her cigarette.

2. I guess you are really a strict follower of the law. If they changed the law so that gun ownership is outlawed, then I am sure you will be the first to take away our guns. After all, it is the law.
3. People drive. Houston is full of black people. This police officer is marked. I will bet you anything he will be off the force in 6 months as the furor over this traffic stop increases.
4.Cops are getting a bad press because they are disrespectful to everyone.
If a cop pulls me over, and asks me where I am going , which is none of their business, I will refuse to answer. All the while videoing the interaction. If I get pulled out and harrassed, lawsuit time. That is a violation of my constitutional rights, and not only will I sue the police, I will personally sue the cop.
And yes, I dont live in Texas. But that video is blatant cop arrogance & overreach. I also think you must have some bad weed over there if cigs and clover can cover up the smell.
I am not in control. I have no power, authority and even my vote has been cancelled out thanks to government. I'm just making observations.
In fact, one observation would be this cop and his attitude with this lone non-threatening female occupant, would last about 2 days in south central LA. He wouldn't know a thing about common sense basic discretion or how to calm or deescalate a situation. He'd get a real lesson and be headed back to Waller County Texas asap...On his own accord or otherwise.
1. State Patrol monies are completely separate from city/county coffers. Most revenue for DPS tickets actually go to the local counties so they’re already funneled into local priorities. Law Enforcement is just not a priority for many large cities, especially sanctuary cities. That isn’t the cop’s fault cause he has no control over that. Those are your elected officials’ faults. Hold them accountable.
Also, since you seem to be uninformed about a lot of things. Speeding and other traffic violations (including illegal lane changes) cause more deaths on the highway than DWI/DUI and all other causes combined each year.
2. No, because I am also an Oath Keeper and the anti-gun laws go against the Constitution. The traffic laws do not go against the Constitutions. The laws requiring her to follow lawful, reasonable orders does not go against the Constitution. You’re comparing oranges to apples.
3. I’ll bet he isn’t off of the force and even if he leaves DPS, he’ll land another job at another department. I promise you that. Yes, Houston has a lot of black people and so does south Dallas, but whites and conservatives still greatly outnumber them, which is why they don’t riot in TX.
4. You are wrong on so many levels with this one. First of all, you can refuse to answer, but then the cop has the right to check your history, background, etc. Second, a cop can pull you out of the car for ANY reason. SCOTUS has already upheld that so you have no recourse for suing. If you get combative, then you’ll just go to jail. Staying in your car and/or being combative are NOT your civil rights. So again, no recourse for suing. Finally, you can’t sue the cop in TX personally if he has not violated the law. He is immune due to a broad good faith clause in the law. That is the same in most States.
Again, you are showing your ignorance of the law and law enforcement.

Her behavior was a direct result of her choices. How hard is that to understand?? Please tell me how he forced her to disobey his lawful order or fight with him....
I never said his actions were out of line. His attitude MAY have been, but his actions were completely within the law. Her actions were unlawful.

The badged thug had his feelings hurt violates protocol making stupid remarks, then illegaly makes the threat “I’ll light you up” with a tazer, a tool that has killed quite a few people. Of course, the cops*ckers, blue team, and the associated unions, cop spokespeople are all okay with the device used as if to herd cattle. There is a chance of death, but oh well right? This isn’t acceptable. People who refuse to get up and then a tazer is used violates the force continuum police are trained on. Threatening, pointing that tazer warrants a death sentence under deprivation of rights.
The female is dead, because the female killed herself.
The female was jailed, because she behaved like an ass and assaulted a cop.
I don’t think the cop was out of line at all. I think the cop was perfectly pleasant to her until she began to behave like a complete idiot to him.
She should have handled things differently.
BTW...the cop that arrested her did NOT kill her. He was nowhere near her when she died. He didn’t even have access to her jail cell per jail protocol. Therefore you contributed to her death about as much as he did. If she committed suicide then she made that choice all on her own as well.

Nothing the cop did violated TX law. Using the taser does not violate TX law.
1. TX doesn’t quite work like that, but try again. In TX, we’re happy with our LEOs. We could care less what out-of-staters think.
2. Asking where you’re going or been is not a violation of your 4th amendment rights and it has been before SCOTUS and upheld. It is not a ‘verbal search’, which is a stupid concept to begin with.
BTW...the traffic stop is a violation of the law that gives the cop probable cause to stop you and question you.

He's supposed to be the professional who interacts with public, who is supposed to recognize what is a threat and what is not? No? He had no intention of doing any of that.

Racial tensions does not justify giving a black person a free ride. LEOs in TX treat everyone the same. A violator is a violator and nobody gets punished or free passes because of their color.

Since the cop didn’t violate the law this family will not be able to sue the department or the State even if he violated policy. TX has a good faith law so the family is out of luck.

I have never been to Texas, but anyone watching that video would think the cop was arrogant. You think Texans are happy with their LEOs, but how do you know that? Texans are most likely anti authority, which does not fit in with your perception.
I won’t answer a cops question that i think is intrusive, at the most I would lie.
Now, go out and ticket people for minor things, and see how far your department gets love and approval from the public.
It's not. Classic broken windows maneuver. Criminals tend to figure, in for a penny, in for a pound. Cops catch a ton of criminals with warrants out for their arrest while stopping them for minor traffic violations. That's why traffic stops are so dangerous for cops, yet so vital for catching perps.
Never said he did.......But HE was the one who arrested her and I've already addressed that issue above.........
