Nine cities in states across the US have pressed for resolutions to recognize October 12 as Indigenous Peoples Day rather than Columbus Day. Eight of those cities passed resolutions in the last two months and three adopted a resolution just this week.
The City Council of Albuquerque, New Mexico voted six to three on Thursday to recognize October 12 as Indigenous Peoples’ Day in a new proclamation:
“Albuquerque recognizes the occupation of New Mexico’s homelands for the building of our City and knows indigenous nations have lived upon this land since time immemorial and values the process of our society accomplished through and by American Indian thought, culture, technology.”
The proclamation noted 500 years of Indian resistance since the arrival of Christopher Columbus and marked the day “in an effort to reveal a more accurate historical record of the ‘discovery’ of the United States of America,” and to “recognize the contributions of Indigenous peoples despite enormous efforts against native nations.”

Columbus was a total idiot.
The people replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day are total idiots too.
--miniscule though it is , it's more than the Muslim "contribution"--
More “only white pride is racist” BS.
White liberals are a group of self-hating children, crying with their mouths full!
Thanks to Marxist Professors and Teachers, they have been indoctrinated to despise everything that their parents and grandparents achieved and passed on to them and now sit in their comfortable towers and pee all over their lineage to give themselves a feeling of warmth.
Tne “Noble Indian” of their imaginations was even more brutal towards each other than the hated and despised whites were.
They have been watching too much Disney.
Columbus wasn’t an idiot...he was the world’s first Democrat.
When he left, he didn’t know where he was going..
When he got there, he didn’t know where he was.
When he got back, he didn’t know where he had been.
And he did it all on other people’s money!
Taking us back to the days of primitive cultures one step at a time. It makes sense because we have a medicine man sitting in the WH.
Gee, I live in Georgia, and if the locals took this movement seriously, we’d have to change the name of my city to “Indigenous Peoples, GA”.

That’s funny!

Well said. Let me know when these city council holier-than-thou types give up their Prius, their central A/C, electric lighting, their cell phones, Prada shoes, and GAP clothes to live in the style of "indigenous people". I doubt one of them could survive a week in an actual stone-age culture.
Of the nine how many are Blue Cities?
I just posted his picture on my Facebook to celebrate!!!!
They can call it whatever they want. All I know is that it’s a holiday and I don’t have to go to work.
They imagine the Noble Savage of proto-commie Rousseau whereas the reality was more Hobbesian - solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.
How about being an American day, idiots on parade, if they are so proud of thier indiginous beginings go back to that hell hole today
Let’s all celebrate primitive, blood-thirsty savages who couldn’t even invent the wheel over 10,000 years instead of the brave men who set out to explore the world in tiny wooden ships that were the pinnacle of the day’s technology. Hooray for PC lunacy. Take those nine cities off my list of destinations forever.
They are neither indigenous nor are they native.
Their ancestors came to the Americas from Asia, over the land bridge that is now known as Alaska’s Aleutian Islands.
