Rethinking monogamy today
CNN ^ | April 12, 2017 | Ian Kerner

"Most people enter their first relationships with the traditional idea of sexual exclusivity. It's just the way we're socialized in our culture."

For some couples, non-exclusivity might take the form of attending "play parties" together and swapping partners, watching other couples have sex, dating other people or even entering into polyamorous relationships with multiple partners. Determine what's OK and what's not.

“Chimpanzee females have sex with more than one male. The males in a troop are usually related.

Some pair-bonded birds cheat, both sexes.”

If you’re talking about the group-hugging bonobos, that is not intimate contact with multiple partners.

Yes, individuals of any complex species can get away with promiscuity for a time, but each intimate contact with someone who is having sex with multiple partners is a game of chance.

If you "re-think" monogamy, you're re-thinking children, family, culture, society, morality, human spirituality, commitment ... That's enough to get you started.

Ever since I discovered girls when I was twelve or so ... I always fantasized about "the one special girl"

I never (and I'll challenge every man that reads this) desired to be a whoremonger par excellance !

Even Hugh Hefner had one special one ... admittedly for not very long.

But then, it's CNN always looking to screw up America by re-arranging her thought processes.

There is an entire field of scientific study now called sociobiology, which is essentially dedicated to coming up with sophisticated sounding excuses for crappy behavior.

“We have evidence that prehistoric man engaged in sex with many partners in order to spread diversity into the gene pool, yadda yadda.”

So.....you’re saying that we should abandon 5000 years of human civilization and go back to living like cavemen?

“YES, YES, that’s EXACTLY what we’re saying!!”

No, the cavemen didn’t get away with promiscuity either. Nature suffers no exceptions. Intimate contact with multiple partners is guaranteed disaster.

“Holy Matrimony with one spouse for life is the surest way to give your children a legacy that will be remembered.”

Anything less than that will give your children a legacy that involves ending up on an episode of C.O.P.S. — and wearing no shirt.

A subplot in “1984” was the “Anti-Sex League”. The Left is bringing that to fruition too, demeaning normal procreative copulation.

The Left, in its pursuit of juvenile self-indulgence, has made it so young women are expected to service men sexually in order to gain job security and social acceptance.

And they have made it so a baby is to be regarded as an unwanted consequence of using another person’s reproductive organs for pure pleasure — a STD, in fact.

Hence, we are selecting ourselves for extinction as we are replaced by those with an infantile mentality that does not allow for abortion, contraception or promiscuity. Hence, we are choosing to subsume our advanced civilization in favor of a primitive one that has one advantage: fecundity.

I think it's run in every edition of Cosmo SINCE 1965.

Lol, and they would hire teachers to speak lies to them and itch their ears.

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:3-5

It’s funny to read all of the objections to people having “multiple partners” but what most of them object to is the idea of multiple partners >at the same time<.

Serial monogamists like our President (who I support) are acceptable to these people even though his multiple marriages would offend them only if the marriages were concurrent. But because they’re consecutive it’s somehow acceptable.

And of course it’s still socially acceptable for single men to have as many sexual partners as they possibly can and that remains acceptable. Some of them are even celebrated for having multiple casual partners at the same time.

But if they commit to these multiple partners and commit to taking responsibility for the children they create then that makes them evil?

Seems to me that committed polygamy is far less of a threat to society than is the selective morality that eats away at the foundations of our civilization.

Doesn’t CNN have better Trumps to go after than trying to support the existence and efforts toward illicit sex? I guess thbey are going to blame VD and aids on him and Bush.

I am no puritan, prude nor holier than thou. I know by nature humans and American culture is not perfect but the shift of immoral, indecent and rather hedonistic nature of American society in a very short amount of time is shocking and disturbing. This is a weapon of the left in their culture war. If there is Hell fire, Clinton and Obama will see it one day. I hold them responsible for opening up the depravity of our society as leaders of the scum left Rat Party. Furthermore, our side doing nothing and dismissing social values makes our side complicit.
