I have long believed the E-Verify system was in place to weed-out people who are ineligible to work in the US because of their illegal status.

Is this not the purpose of E-Verify?

E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information from your Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) records to confirm that you are authorized to work in the United States.Apr 10, 2018

“This individual has worked at our farms for four years, was vetted through the government’s E-Verify system,...”

Who was President four years ago?

Background checks can be run as part of a hiring or onboarding process, as permitted by law, as well as throughout the term of employment. E-Verify is only run once after an offer of employment has been made and accepted, but no later than the third business day after the employee starts work for pay. In short, E-Verify is a supplement to Form I-9; treat it similarly.

The goal of a background check is to gain insight on your applicant/employee in order to make an employment decision. The goal of E-Verify is to electronically verify employment eligibility with the Social Security Administration (SSA) and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) based on the information from a completed Form I-9.

The results of a background check can influence an employer’s hiring or employment decision. The results of E-Verify can not influence employment, unless if the result is a Final Non-Confirmation.

Yes, that’s the purpose. That means the illegal committed more than basic identity fraud, as the system is designed to catch basic SSN theft and the like. It suggests that the human traffickers are selling a reasonably-sophisticated identity fraud product to illegals.

Sure, e-verify said he was good to go after the dairy farm created a valid social security number for him... shut down every business that hires illegals... every single one.

And the evidence that they did, in fact, vet him is what exactly?

WUT? There’s a flaw in a government run electronic data base?

I think eVerify is supposed to match the SSN to the identity of the employee. Maybe he stole the SSN of a guy with his same name?

The Kenyan from Indonesia corrupted every agency of our government.

The founders were correct to exclude the children of foreign nationals from becoming President with the natural born citizen requirement.

Natural born citizens are naturally citizens because they cannot be anything else.

People born with multiple nationalities are precisely who the founders were excluding.

I do not think “background check” means the same thing to most people, as the employer being provided with some fake documents, and the SSN passed through.

It would not surprise me if E-Verify might also be corrupted, because there would be BIG MONEY in not having it flag illegals.

Clearly he committed fraud as well as illegally entering the country, along with hundreds of thousands of other criminals here threatening our safety.

The problem I see....if you went across Iowa, there are probably a minimum of 10,000 non-Americans who are in some work-support of Iowa-farmers. If you start messing with the system or making more difficult to hire basic help....it’ll put a lot of these farmers into a tough position and unable to ‘recruit’ or hire anyone to fill the job.

My brother made the point a couple of years ago...that it’s hard to find anyone willing to work the chicken-business as a day-labor guy. Even if you offer $15 an hour...where do you find willing people to put in an eight-hour day....five days a week?

When someone appears at your door who can’t speak English but who hands you a brand new Social Security card, if you are too stupid to know he’s an illegal who bought the card and perhaps a brand new birth certificate, on a street corner for ten bucks, then you are too stupid to run a business in America.

The owner and the manager of Yarrabee Farms should have to produce all the documentation on this killer. They were aiding and abetting an illegal alien, which is still against Federal law.

I would bet that it was tweaked by the Obama administration to pass just about anyone except the worse of the worse. It you were JUST an illegal you would probably pass e-verify.

The farmer knew he was here illegally.

shut down every business that hires illegals...

How are they supposed to verify that they're illegal? It sounds like this one did everything right to verify them.

They need to come up with a more sustainable model that doesn't involve breaking the law.
