One suggestion would be to stop reading articles that are as useful as belly-button lint (to stick with my analogy). But if we don't acknowledge there is a problem, how do we fix it?

"The only thing keeping 3rd parites from winning is the perception that they can't win." No, what is keeping third parties from gaining any headway is a combination of needing enormous amounts of money and the fact that neither major party will give up its stranglehold on the 2-party system. Third parties are prevented from taking part in debates, and even if they rise above that obstacle, big dollars and carefully contrived "rules" keep them off the ballots. It shouldn't be that way, but it is. I don't know the answer.
Maybe you can discuss that next Sunday or at least at the FReeper meeting the following Saturday. I look forward to meeting you.

We are not on the same page. I am a life long Republican.

Could that be true? What do you think happens when you open a "Department of Homeland Security"? It just sounds spooky . . .

Agreed.
I think that is the problem. We hold the Republicans to a lesser standard. We need to be just as vocal regarding bad policies regardless of party affiliation.

There are a lot of third party voters. Remember they gave us Clinton.
Maybe they did in some ways but I also blame a very inept campaign by then President Bush X41 and the GOP and a pretty effective campaign by then Gov Clinton and his campaign (it's the economy, stupid).
VOTE REPUBLICAN NOV. 5, 2002
Take back the Senate
Retain the House

What has the US Taxpayers/Constitution party won?
To: Bill D. Berger
What are we to do? I don't have the answer for that question, but I do know that the Republicans are just as complicit in the downfall of America as much as the Dems I'm working on taking back the GOP.
I'll give you a little background. We had a 22 year old named Joe Hune in a very conservative area in the district that neighbors mine. He was one of 6 candidates for a state rep spot. The 'establishment' candidate was Dave Domas(I hate using that term, since establishment usually has negative connotations and Dave is a good guy). Dave was the chair of the county commissioners and has 10 years experience.
Joe won.(probably, it's in the hands of the board of canvassers because of a recount and a two vote margin). Joe won by knocking on 13,000 doors. He beat two township supervisors, a newspaper editor, and an attorney.
He outworked everyone. Are conservatives willing to outwork the moderates or simply bitch? That's the question I have.
To: Jimer
Maybe it's a Conservative "run and bitch" mentality Bingo
To: Bill D. Berger
I agree there. I have been critical of Bush in the past when he is wrong and I will continue to be.

AMEN! Say it again!!!!

DO ANY OF THE FREEPERS ON THIS THREAD--have confirmation of the 2nd part of the post at:
http://freerepublic.com/focus/religion/746755/posts?page=1 THE SECOND PART BEGINS JUST ABOVE THE 2ND BOLD DARK BLUE PARAGRAPH--THE UNCENTERED BLUE PARAGRAPH. IT SPEAKS TO WHAT THE BIG GOV OF BILLDO AND SHRILLERY WERE UP TO, IMHO. AND . . . given that I've felt such was true a long time--it's sobering to read it again.

He's far more right than you are. How is it nonsense? Please be specific.
Further, the FedGov leviathan has grown so huge that it may NOT be possible for we, the people, to take it back without being willing to see copious amounts of blood shed... Are you saying it's time for that?
There is only ONE public official in DC that I would be 100% confident is not either a crook, a socialist or a traitor. You know who that is... and it is NOT the current administration.

OK. I am not at all unwilling to go that route, but I prefer to see all the peaceful options exhausted first... it makes a much neater package and perhaps can result in fewer innocent casualties if you have to drop the ballot box to pick up the bullet box...
