A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day - Weekend....12-21,22-02

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends: We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review those who've been featured during the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello to them now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. :)

     2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
     3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
     4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.

I was about ready to put out an APB on you. You are usually the first poster on the thread. :-)

I went to do the marketing with my bride. Did I mention we are having Christmas at our house this year? I was informed as we drove out of the store's parking lot that we weren't done yet. The tab was $223.xx. All told, I'd rather be flying air cover than shopping on the saturday before Christmas.

I'm cleaning the chimney, gonna set out milk and cookies for him...hoping that a bribe may get me that Red Ryder BB Rifle...)

You're so cute! I love the way you get into the spirit of things around here. I hope Santa is extra-specially good to you this year. :-)

When you were filing past the casket in D.C., Mama_Bear, I was in Fairbanks - and four months later went through the Good Friday Earthquake.

Then living in town in a two-story house with basement, I had to sit down on the kitchen floor and put my baby in my lap, the whole house rocking like a ship on a very high sea!

Decision Time - flee before the house caved in on us - or go outside where it was in late March 20 below zero?!!
Ah, those 'choices' - I just knew there was a chasm out there with My Name on it, waiting to swallow me!

When the snow finally melted off the ground in late May, there was a two-inch crack all the way across the yard, parallel to the house.

Yep - sometimes we are absolutely right going with feminine intuition - LOL.

What a beautiful Saturday morning! That looks like a fine breakfast there Lodwick, but Mudboy will be happy to know I had GRITS this morning! :) My tiny Chickadees are also having breakfast at my suet feeder - seems they enjoy "pork (beef?)products" as well as we do! LOL Days are counting down until Christmas. Tonight I am going to see the Living Christmas Tree with my brother and his wife. I've never seen it before so I'm excited. My Christmas shopping is mostly finished, and I plan to bake cookies tommorrow. Fun! You're all invited over for cookies and milk later. :)
Good Morning to all!

Lori, may I put in a plug here for Aquamarine's Special Christmas music thread on Monday? She tells me she is saving her "best" music for then.

ABSOLUTELY!!

Thank you, aquamarine, for gracing our thread with beautiful music (and graphics) all season, and especially for your special music thread gift to us on Monday. I can't wait!

Monday will be such a treat with the efforts you have put into a special Day of Music.

We don't often enough say on threads how much we enjoy them, but appreciate and never take your hard work for granted.

Of course your female intuition was on target, LadyX! It was warning that your delicate, female shaped person might be in harms way! :)

Thanks, Mama_Bear...I think that Santa is one of the original compassionate conservatives, and is, as Dubya described himself, with tears in his eyes a few days after 9/11, "...a loving guy."

He knows better than me what I really need, so my bribe might not bring that BB gun, but whatever he leaves, I'll surely be grateful for.

Hope you're having a good day, taking care of what need doin', but also finding time to rest and enjoy the view.

I was all through with my grocery shopping yesterday and now Mr. Aquamarine comes home and tells me that I'm supposed to cook a brocolli casserole for the Fire Station. They are having their Christmas on Monday...so I have to go back to the grocery store (on the Sat. before Christmas) and restock. Not to mention that I will be cooking Sun. night. Crunch time!

Yes, I agree, and have often had the same thought, marveling at the ordinary beauty around us.

All the Universe is His Sistine Chapel.

Crunch time!

Yes, indeed! I have a couple more pings to answer and then I HAVE to take off out of here.

Hang in there, Aqua, everything will get done that needs to get done......that's what I keep telling myself. ;-)

Good Morning.
I missed the FReep last night also, but I didn't have a good reason. Hope to see you there next Friday.
Today will be slow for me on the threads. I still need to get to a couple of stores to finish up my Christmas. I guess that I'm trying to help the economy. LOL

Talk to you all later. Stay safe, have fun!

Yes, we are going to try to make it up there next Friday.

Merry Christmas! TTYL. :-)
