What was your favorite quote from the SOTU tonight?

And why. Why do you believe in that particular quote? How does it affect conservatism? How does it affect our war on Terror? How does it affect 8 years of the previous socialist/communist state we were supposed to embrace?

All told, more than 3,000 suspected terrorists have been arrested in many countries. Many others have met a different fate. Let's put it this way -- they are no longer a problem to the United States and our friends and allies.

God, I loved that speech.
But the one thing I didn't like was:
"We are doing everything we can to stop the terrorist threats"
I don't think that is really the case, especially regarding the borders.

I think it's important because it shows the misguided thinking that most liberals have. It's that "why should we attack them? What have they ever done to me personally? Who am I to impose my will on someone else?" kind of backwards thinking that sickens me. Bennett was simply trying to point out where we'd be today if we'd thought that way about Hitler in WW II.

President Lincoln could have been talking about September 11th here. The truly transcendent speeches are timeless. Tonight's speech was wonderful, but the format of a SOTU somewhat ties its content to specifics, making it somewhat less powerful later on, read out of context. It was exceptionally well-delivered, however. And for a SOTU, it was pitch-perfect.

I'd like to hear logical opinions, why did this strike you as important? (Assuming "this" is the Sarandon question and Bennett's response to it)
I felt that Bennett's question was an important adjunct to Bush's masterstroke of a speech tonight. Masterful in itself, Bennett's question will help most thinking people really understand for the first time why tyrants like Saddam need to be slapped down before they acquire the power and lethality of a Hitler. I firmly believe that Saddam tried to make Kuwait his Sudetenland, and would have succeeded if not for the coalition led by America.
In the arena of public opinion, I am optimistic that Powell's presentation of evidence to the UN on February 5 will be the straw that breaks the back of the burgeoning anti-war movement in the US today. Oh, the Martin Sheens and Susan Sarandons will continue to yammer that we are being big bullies bombing innocent Iraqi children, but I believe that public support for the war will again be at Desert Storm levels after November 5. And, Bennett's simple little question to Alan Colmes will be the foot in the door.

I don't expect the entire SOTU to become as widely known as the entire G address is known, but there are plenty of lines that can be pulled out and made into little snippets that explain what America is really about.
The sad thing is that as long as the RATs control our education systems, the likelihood of later generations learning the wisdom presented tonight is limited. Only those few with involved parents of the correct mindset will be privy to it.

I think it sent a clear message to the people of Iraq that our war is not against you it is FOR you. That our quarrel is with the despot that rules your country. That we want you, the Iraqi people to live in the same fredom that American's live in. The military quote makes my eyes water everytime I read it. I started in the military when Clinton came into office and I saw what he did to take it apart. That subtle message to the troops shows that Bush understands that the sacrifice we make to do what we do isn't an easy one and that despite what's being spewed in the media, America DOES support us and appreciates what we as soldiers are doing.
