That's not the first thread. This is: Space Shuttle Columbia Will Be Visible In San Francisco Area (6AM Pacific). This is the thread where Freepers were watching the descent live and slowly figured out that something was very wrong. We ended up beating the AP by ELEVEN MINUTES on the story, which is absolutely jaw-dropping in the world of journalism.
