May 23, 2003 -- Residents of a Bronx building are outraged after getting an unexpected morning "greeting" yesterday from a police drug squad, which burst into their homes, waved guns at children and then left after finding nothing. "At 7:50 a.m., they burst down the door to the building," said Joe Celcis, a teacher whose mother and sister live in the home.

So violating constitutional guarantees against unlawful search and seizure is ok with you if it's done in the name of a cause you support? Interesting. Pssst. Headsonspikes is one of those sarcastic libertarian types.

Somebody who puts a gun in the face of a 12-year-old is pathetic. Somebody who sells drugs to a 12-year-old is pathetic.
What is so pathetic about supplying a product to a 12 year old?
Maybe she was just running an errand for her mother?
Where in the US Constitution did the Founding Fathers give up the right to treat their own health with out permission (read prescriptions) from a government agent (read doctors).
It is indeed pathetic that people have no clue as to what the Constitution means when it says all rights not given to the government are reserved to the people.

There may be a dozen or so cases of the valid need for a "No Knock" warrant in the nation in a year, primarily when someone is thought to be holding a hostage, but the police have gone nuts with them, and the judiciary has let them.
Where are all the Bleading Heart Liberal Judges who are supposed to be over the top protecting our constitutional rights?
Somehow "No Knock" has become the norm.

"I want the city to pay," said Jennifer's mom, Amerite. "How can a 12-year-old forget having a gun pointed at her? She was treated like she was in Iraq."I expect significant follow-on activity in this area by ambitious lawyers.

My above statement was generic -- not directed at ANYONE in this incident. Most people on this thread got that -- you didn't.

They *did* keep their noses clean; look at what it got them. BTW - "civilians"?? Yes, civilians. It's a war out there.
Don't you notice the military style haircuts and dress of the majority of soldiers police these days?
Ten years ago the Freddie Mercury/gay looking mustache was in vogue, now it's full military dress with the associated us against them attitude.
Most police are not out to harass honest people but it seems that there's no such thing as honest "civilians" to some police.

Why? The payout would be low, on the order of maybe $5000

And I still do not understand your generic post, who ever you were aiming it at.

IMHO, the degree of adversarialism that exists today between law enforcement and American citizens, and the militarization of law enforcemnt agencies, are the lasting and still evolving legacies of both Bill Clinton and Rudy Guiliani.

These cops are lucky. If someone "bursts" in my door at this time of day I am wide awake, preparing to leave for work and armed. Cops would have been GD surprised.

I see your point. I am disappointed that the original poster didn't care to elaborate.
I guess I'm fortunate to live in a relatively small town where the police officers are home-towners and as such, knowing who's who makes their job easier, and our lives better. I wonder why bigger municipalities don't assign l.e.o. into their own neighborhoods in an effort to keep hideous mistakes to a minimum?

Sure seems like a lot of fruitless action in the WOD. The WOT is of course entirely secret so there appears to be no action at all. These "mistakes" in the WOD have to stop. How many such mis-identifications have happened since, say, the first of the year, or since Monday morning and how many actual drug vendors have been shut down?

I've heard of some towns having a program of having officers moving into homes in "reclaimed" inner city neighborhoods in order to have a presence there. I think Houston has one, but I haven't heard about it lately.
I don't think many Houston police even live in the city limits these days.
To: Eaker
Sadly, you are merely a statistic waiting to happen. I fully expect to see someday this article:
87 year old man foolishly resists the rightful entering of his dwelling by members of our community's fine law establishment personnel. He was then incinerated in self defense by LEO personnel using Mk42 particle beam hand weapons in response to his unprovoked aggression.
"Clearly our reeducation procedure missed this old codger" said Lt. William Jackboot. "His nearest relative will of course be assessed all damages and charged with failing to report his lack of reeducation attendance."

>>What a bunch of whiners!
No one was shot and killed, and no one was pistol-whipped. Not even one GD dog was kicked!
Sounds like these civilians got off easy; no one got hurt.
It pays to keep your nose clean.<<
I will take that as sarcasm until notified otherwise.
