Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. I expect all of you atheists, agnostics, America-haters, smart-ass liberals who think things suck in this country, and otherwise ungrateful people to be at work on time and with your smiley faces on. We'll be there to buy our television sets a little after 8:00 PM. For the rest of you, particularly graduates of the public school system, here's a little easy-to-digest American history for you to chomp on in between bites of that dried out turkey you'll insist is "the best turkey [you] ever had."

President Barack Obama praised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday for agreeing to an Egypt-crafted cease-fire with Palestinian militants in Gaza. Obama, speaking to Netanyahu by telephone, also underlined America's unwavering support for Israel's security and said he hoped to "intensify" U.S. assistance. "The president commended the prime minister for agreeing to the Egyptian cease-fire proposal—which the president recommended the prime minister do—while reiterating that Israel maintains the right to defend itself," the White House said in a summary of the conversation.

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is resigning from Congress, his brother Jonathan Jackson tells the Chicago Tribune. A spokesman for House Speaker John Boehner confirmed Wednesday that his office has received a letter of resignation from Jackson but did not comment further, according to the Associated Press. The congressman could not be reached. Jackson, 47, a South Side Democrat, has been treated for bipolar depression and has been on a medical leave from Congress since June. He has been under investigation by federal authorities for alleged misuse of campaign dollars and also has faced a congressional ethics probe. Although he did...

Sooo...today I'm making my annual Thanksgiving apple crisp, a labor intensive project (peel, core and slice 2-3 dozen apples). I went to the store and bought 2 bags of Rome and Granny Smith with a few loose Mac's and Golden Delicious. I noticed none of them had that apple fragrance but brought them home and started peeling and slicing. Wait a second...none of them have an apple scent even when I cut them open..wonder how they taste..sliced off a few bites from each variety and what do you know..they don't TASTE like apples. They LOOK gorgeous..but they taste ...like...cold, crispy,...

While pardoning the Thanksgiving turkey today, President Obama absolved it with what he called a "special dispensation," making the Sign of the Cross over the gobbling turkey. It appears that Obama made a left handed, backward sign of the cross.

Nancy Pelosi infamously declared that we have to pass ObamaCare in order to find out wha's in it, she wasn't kidding. Buried in the mammoth 2700-page law that most in Congress did not bother to read before passing is Section 4205. That section requires any pizzeria, grocery store, or convenience store with more than 20 locations to post calorie information in their stores on menu boards. The way the law is written, it requires the national pizza chains to post fixed information...

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A former Los Angeles mayor leading an effort to change pensions plans for newly-hired public employees says he has evidence that a low-level union member is behind an alleged illegal counter-campaign. KNX 1070′s Bill Polish reports Richard Riordan is hoping to amass enough signatures to put a plan to transition newly-hired city workers away from taxpayer-guaranteed pensions and towards 401(k)-style accounts before voters in May. Download: 2-fraud-bpo-w-rick-riordan-fmr-la-mayor.mp3 According to an email obtained and released by Riordan, an employee with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 sent out an email calling on members to sign...

The benefits of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy for people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) persist years after the first treatment with the drug (also known as ecstasy), according to a follow-up study published in the Journal of Psychopharmacology1. The finding gives hope to people with PTSD who do not respond to conventional treatments. However, the results come from a small-scale pilot study, and the outcomes have not been so convincing in other recently published work. In the original trial, 20 patients with PTSD who had not responded to either psychotherapy or to conventional psychopharmacological drugs received MDMA (3,4-methylenedioxy-N-methylamphetamine) or a placebo during...

Returning home after two months on the road touring the country singing, speaking, writing and campaigning to defeat Obama, I felt similar to a heartbroken soldier after losing a war. I trust God, but in all candor, I felt emotionally drained. Shopping for salad stuff in Walmart, I focused on a sign “Gold Bell Peppers $1.68 each”. To my surprise, I became extremely angry. As absurd as it sounds, $1.68 for one bell pepper was the straw that broke the camel's back. It epitomized my frustration and anger over the idiocy of Obama voters. Why in the world would they...

Even if you're not an art lover you've probably heard of surrealism, but how about cerealism? US artist Ernie Button, 45, from Arizona has come up with a wacky new creation which features edible landscapes made from breakfast cereals. He spends up to a week creating the cunningly put together scenes which 'explore the evolution of breakfast cereals.' Button said: 'The idea for "Cerealism" was a trip to the grocery store. When I was a youngster, cereal was a luxury item. A brand name cereal was a rarity in our house as they were consistently more expensive. Something like Cap'n...

....In the Benghazi story, we have four dead Americans. A lack of security that borders on criminal negligence. No apparent effort was made to save the lives of Messrs. Woods and Doherty, despite their pleas. The Obama administration, including the president, gave false and misleading accounts of what happened despite mounting evidence to the contrary. And the person who was wrongly accused of inciting the attacks by making a crude YouTube video is now in prison. Yet the press has, for the most part, treated this story with ambivalence and reluctance. A reliable barometer of the views of the elite...

By SARAH TULLY / The Orange County Register Public figures usually go to Disneyland when they win. Not Mitt Romney. Just two weeks after losing the election, the once presidential hopeful visited the Happiest Place on Earth in Anaheim, according to reports on social media. Suzi Brown, a Disneyland Resort spokeswoman, declined to confirm that Romney was at the parks. Disney has a policy against revealing visitors' identities. Twitter users posted messages all day Tuesday about Romney sightings, sometimes with a political or humorous bent. One used the hashtag #TooDressedUpToHaveFun. “Mitt Romney is at Disneyland. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Wednesday indicated Russia’s continuing interest in cooperation with China on defence sector issues. Shoigu told top Chinese officials during a visit to Beijing for the 17th Sino-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Military and Technological Cooperation that joint work between the two powers would enhance stability across the region. “The closer the cooperation is between our two countries, including in the military-technological area, the more peaceful our region will be,” he said. This was Shoigu's first official foreign trip since replacing Anatoly Serdyukov as defense minister earlier this month. Senior Chinese military officials in turn indicated...

Commentary: From Laffer to Obama, they fed our greed and guiltWASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — With our political leaders locked in a fiscal struggle that threatens to throw the economy off a so-called cliff and into recession, you might be wondering how we got to this place. Remember that this supposed fiscal cliff is the direct result of two contradictory impulses in American life: Greed and guilt. Greed for low taxes, a strong military, a strong safety net and lots of government spending for everyone. And guilt that we weren’t paying our way. Read “Stop calling it a ‘fiscal cliff’” All of...

The Atheists Humanists Agnostics (AHA) club sent out a campus-wide e-mail announcing the program on Tuesday and promising a “full-out romp against why one of the most beloved people of the century, Mother Teresa, is as Hitchens put it… ‘a lying, thieving Albanian dwarf.’” Mother Teresa is widely known for founding the Missionaries of Charities, a charity tasked with aiding the poor. She was beatified in 2003 by Pope John Paul II, a step toward possible sainthood.
