Rocket Launchers Turned in During L.A. Gun Buyback Not Functional LOS ANGELES, Calif. (KTLA) Two rocket launchers handed over to the Los Angeles Police Department during L.A.’s annual Gun Buyback were not functional. Police Chief Charlie Beck and Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa showed off the launchers, which were turned in by families of former military members on December 26. If gun-control advocates and our media want to have a conversation about government restrictions on gun ownership, I think that’s fine. Debating more issues, rather than fewer, is probably good for our politics. But the conversation about guns needs to be a bit more factually precise. Today’s New York Times story on the AR-15 has a lot of good information and aims to be balanced, but the story still manages to perpetuate many of the most stubborn myths about rifles. LONGPORT NJ – Two residents are facing weapons charges related to the unlawful possession of a military-style Colt AR-15 assault rifle, according to police. The two were arrested Saturday, Feb. 5 after a month-long investigation. Walter H.
