Introduction to the Project: (This is a completed live blog. I have decided not to correct most typographical errors or “fix” it. Some was done as late as 3 AM as I finished the book, but I felt the authenticity of the moment generally better than a smoothed out version.) I have defended Sarah Palin on numerous occasions against critics. I thought some conservatives turned on her too soon and that her executive experience outweighed any negatives known about her. I certainly did not think flubbing some interviews made her unfit to be a chief executive. If one were to...

I think it is a good Q. Huck was polling at least 8-10% of GOP voters, it's interesting to know whether those votes now go to the other evangelical Sarah, someone else or whether it puts Hucksters in the undecided column!

When making your pick, please explain how your candidate is better qualified in terms of experience, knowledge, resolve, dedication, public speaking, interview skills, political savvy and ability, conservative credentials, coolness under fire, etc.

I understand most Palin supporters have already handed her the '12 nomination, but a primary can be unpredictable and bruising. My question is, what will you do if for some reason Sarah does not win the '12 pub nomination? Stay home, vote 3rd party or support the nominee (if it is one of todays potential but established candidates)? This is a "what if" question. If you don't have the capacity to contemplate a Palin primary loss then please find another thread on which to slobber and slander (although I seriously doubt this request will be honored).

Since Sarah Palin brought the point of "Death Panels" to the forefront there has been much discussion on it here. But this and other parallel issues have been discussed off an on at FR for the last ten years. However, since Sarah Palin mentioned it the tenor of the discussion has changed. Whereas before there were was sentiment for "not being a burden on our children" and discussion on the merits of spending such large amounts of public money on procedures that might have limited and short term benefits. So let's see where everyone stands. The issue of Death Panels...

"Today I am resigning from the Governorship of Alaska to run for the Presidency of the United States, a position in which I believe I can do much more good for the American people." Walk away, nothing more.

Now that we sit her in incredulity as Doug Hoffman wanders off into the sunset, maybe it's a good time to take a moment and think about what just happened. Modern politics is not won with torches and pitchforks from half way across the country which is what was attempted here. No, Scozzafava should never have been handed the nomination but it was an isolated, freakish situation brought on by the sudden departure of the incumbent and exasperated by everyday political insider dealing. To claim that it was an example of how GOP politics work everyday is hyperbole by those...

I have been watching the Hoffman/Scozzafava drama and offer these observations and musings for your consideration. PAST Upon hearing of the nomination of Scozzfava and Hoffmans subsequent third party bid I was incredulous that a Republican of this obvious departure from regular GOP and conservative principles could garner such a selection. At first I thought it was a reflection of the divergent desires of northeast politics, the kind that get a Snowe or Collins elected on the GOP ticket. After doing some reading on what actually went down (tcotreport in particular) it was obvious this was simply a matter of...

This was previously posted but needed a much better attention grabbing headline! Apologies to the OP! WRITE IN OBAMA FOR THE HEISMAN! Seriously FReepers, this could be the funniest thing we do all day! Tell your freinds, use your PING LISTS! Keep this thread at the top!

But just because the Nobel Committee declares you as such doesn't make you so. Please, if we're going to be made to suffer 500 Obama Peace Prize vanities today at last put some thinking into your post. And before someone posts it for the hundredth time (it wasn't funny after the second), my name isn't Francis.

I don't know how many FReepers saw this last night, but it is oustanding... Obama delivers Jack and Squat

I'm not taking a position one way or the other, I have been watching the "Birther" controversy with interest. In answering my question, please go further than the obvious, in other words what would be the outfall and how would you handle the eventual constitutional crisis? Would Biden become prez? If he is no longer viable, would it then fall to Pelosi? I'm asking the birther supporters to think long range about this.

We all loved Sarah. She rescued the sinking McCain campaign, said all the right things and holds pretty much the same positions of most FReepers. They all love Obama. He rescued the sinking DNC, said all the right things and holds pretty much the same positions of most liberals. Dems, liberals and the MSM are condemned for their all consuming adoration, virtual blindness to any mistakes or faults and slobbering worship of the man. Yet when the same thing happens to Palin it turns into a virtue. Sarah was a real coup for conservatives. But when she announced her resignation...

Sarah is now unelectable on a national stage. The “quitter” specter will hang around her neck like “swimmer” does to Ted Kennedy. You’ll be able to spot the realistic, clear thinking conservatives because they see and admit this early so we can put it behind us get on with identifying the candidates who can win in ‘12. BTW - This doesn’t rule out a tangential private career ala Newt or a run for a House or Senate seat (although I don’t know where at this point) but as a national candidate she is toast. That so many conservatives can’t see...

Fellow Americans, Please know: I am Black; I grew up in the segregated South. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul's name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a Black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a Black president to love the ideal of America I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are...

We've been having a discussion on what makes one a conservative on another thread here. But I thought I would also get FReeper opinions on this question because it goes to core of the issue.
-
Maybe it's time we admit there really isn't an animal that is "conservative". Several times over the years I have asked FReepers to offer their definition of what makes someone "conservative" and generally in the first 20 responses I would get 15 different opinions. It seemed many people inserted the issue most dear to their hearts as the defining characteristic of conservatism with others taking a somewhat second class citizen seat. If you were a religious conservative, belief in God and Jesus as your Lord and Savior was paramount. If you were an economic conservative, low taxes and small government...

The Tea Parties are over, the clean up is finished and all that's left are the lamentations over the despicable media coverage priot to and during, and, to agonizingly watch as the event and conservatives are slowly roasted over the spit while the MSM skewers it for the next couple of weeks. Because, it ain't done until Olberman says it is. Which reminds me of a story. A turtle was about to cross a creek when a scorpion asks if he can hitch a ride on the turtles shell. At first the turtle says no as the scorpion might sting...

Before I ask my question, a few disclaimers. First, I like Fox News. I watch at least some of it every day, it generally speaks to me and my values, much more so than any other TV news outlet. Conservatives and FReepers have an issue with the MSM. We believe much of it to be biased nd possibly a propaganda machine for the left. We scream when it reports dishonestly, when it spikes stories, when it appears to carry water for every leftist cause under the sun. But watching Fox News coverage of the TP's I couldn't help but get...
