  • Obama Has A Gigantic Lead in the Most Biased Poll Ever

President Barack Obama has one of the biggest leads we've seen for him in quite a long time in a new Pew Research Poll: He's up 10 points over Mitt Romney. Don't take much from it, though. Pew's sample of registered voters is highly skewed, oversampling Democrats by almost 20 points. Pew surveyed 1,956 registered voters. Of those, 42 percent were Democrats and just 23 percent were Republicans. We can't remember a poll being that imbalanced. Pew's poll in June also slightly oversampled Democrats and gave Obama a 7-point lead. So what we can take from this is that Independents...

I was willing to give him a fair shake, but his immigration positions are just too much for me to accept. He is against a border fence, against E-Verify, for in-state tuition for illegals, etc. Freepers, these are common sense immigration issues. Anyone that can't understand the need for a border fence, the need for E-Verify, and NO government handouts to illegals has no place running as a Republican candidate for President!!!!!! Ugh . . . . To the Perry people, I understand Perry's arguments against the border fence and for in-state tuition (although obviously I disagree), but can someone...

Freepers, I am here at the Hofstra Law Ethics Symposium (I am in my third year at the law school). I have been here for about one hour and it is an absolute liberal love fest. I have come close to puking at least five times due to some of the unbelievable things the speakers and those asking questions are saying. Here is just a sampling in a one-hour period of what one speaker and some other people in the question and answer session had to say: 1) While acknowledging Nifong did some bad things, the only reason why they...
  • Vanity - My Abortion Debate from Tonight - Seven against One - Long

I thought some freepers might enjoy a summary of an abortion debate I just had with about seven people. I was over at my friend’s house. It consisted of him, his wife, his mother, his sister, his mother's boyfriend, his grandparents, a few cats, and two dogs. The animals tended to stay neutral, but it was all of them against me in a rough and tumble abortion debate. The first thing that I found funny was them asking my why I was pro-life even though I am not a Catholic or Christian (which was a funny question because they are...

You guys gotta watch Joe go. I know he has been pissing a lot of us off recently with his attacks on the Bush Administration, but he absolutely gives it to: 1) Joe Wilson 2) Pat FItzgerald 3) Richard Armitage 4) The Justice Department for pursuing this

  • Top Ten Reasons Why We Must Never Let McCain Become The Republican Nomination for President in 2008

Since vanities have been ever so popular lately, I'm going to do one of my own. I saw a few articles today about McCain starting a preliminary run for president, so I thought up a top ten list of reasons why us freepers must ensure that he does not win the nomination. Here they are: Top Ten Reasons Why We Must Prevent McCain from Becoming the GOP Nominee in 2008 10)He ran around with Hillary Clinton whining about global warming 9)He is a MSM whore 8)He supports embryonic stem cell research 7)He attacked Rumsfeld almost every day for the last...

The Democrats’ Impeachment Road Map It’s finished, ready to go — and waiting for November. By Byron York There’s a word you won’t find in the text of Democratic Rep. John Conyers’s new “investigative report” on the Bush administration, “The Constitution in Crisis: The Downing Street Minutes and Deception, Manipulation, Torture, Retribution, and Coverups in the Iraq War, and Illegal Domestic Surveillance.” And the word is…impeachment. Yet the 350-page “Constitution in Crisis,” released last week, is, more than anything else, a detailed road map for the impeachment of George W. Bush, ready for use should Democrats win control of the...

Question for freepers: I understand that RINOS are a big problem in our party and we need to vote them out of office. I also agree that the place to do that is in the primaries for the party's nomination. I supported getting rid of Specter in 2004 and will support attempts to get rid of other RINOS like Lindsay Graham, John McCain and others when their elections come up. However, I predicate my support for such actions on the fact that I feel that if we were able to beat these RINO incumbents, we would have a great shot...

The Hagel-Martinez Guest Worker Amnesty Plan: Round 2! The Senate returned from recess this week with plans to take up immigration reform again during the month of May. Both Senator Frist and Senator Reid have publicly announced they plan to have an immigration reform package voted out of the chamber by Memorial Day recess and FAIR has learned that the Hagel-Martinez “compromise” is still the vehicle of choice. During the floor debate three weeks ago, Senators tried to market the Hagel-Martinez “compromise” as some moderate version of the massive McCain-Kennedy guest worker amnesty. The American public was not fooled then,...

Some Senators Listening to (Hearing) the American Public! The Senate failed to invoke cloture this morning by a vote of 39-60 on the Specter Amnesty, all but making it go it go away. You are making the difference! Many Senate offices tell us your voices are loud and clear-no amnesty! Since the cloture vote on the Specter Amendment failed, the largest amnesty proposal in American history does not have enough support behind it to pass the Senate. Now, we face the second wave of amnesty-a late night "compromise" hashed out between Maj. Leader Frist and Sens. Hagel and Martinez. Majority...

On February 16, President George W. Bush assembled a small group of congressional Republicans for a briefing on Iraq. Vice President Dick Cheney and National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley were there, and U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad participated via teleconference from Baghdad. As the meeting was beginning, Mike Pence spoke up. The Indiana Republican, a leader of conservatives in the House, was seated next to Bush. "Yesterday, Mr. President, the war had its best night on the network news since the war ended," Pence said. "Is this the tapes thing?" Bush asked, referring to two ABC News reports that...
  • Polling: Sample Breakdown

A question for freepers. What is the terminology polling organizations use to breakdown the polls between democrat, republicans, and independents. I know Rasmussen does it by the vote last election, 37%R, 37%D, 36%I. However, I notice in all these others polls the Dems usually consist of a larger sample. Now, I know we all talk about the fact that these outfits are doing it purposefully to make Bush look bad. However, I wonder if anyone knows what there response would be when asked why they oversample Democrats. Is there actually a technical reason why they do so besides bias? Are...

Snap Judgment: Dear Steven Spielberg By CALEV BEN-DAVID I hope you will not think me presumptuous, but given our long relationship I feel entitled to offer you some unsolicited advice regarding Munich, your new movie scheduled to premiere later this month. Our relationship began of course back in 1971 when I saw your first feature film, the thrilling made-for-TV movie Duel, and later enthusiastically described it in detail to my friends. It continued during my years at the NYU film school, when I defended Jaws, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, E.T. - and yes, even 1941 - as the...

I am sorry, but no matter where you stand on the Miers nomination, is the White House serious that they are so obsesssed with ensuring she is confirmed that they are willing to no only shove her down conservative throats (while tearing the base in two), but to make sure it happens, they are going to shove Spector's stem cell bill down our throats too(see Specter deal mentioned on another thread)? For the life of me, I cannot understand it and I wonder how anyone on here can, no matter how you feel about Miers. They are digging themselvs deeper...

While it was obvious from the Roberts nomination that whoever Bush picks, there will always be a few freepers who for their own reasons (some valid, some not), don't like him or her. However, as my title mentiones, I think we can all agree, no matter where you stand on the Miers nomination, something is wrong with this pick when a week after the fact, it is US arguing over whether or not to try to kill the nomination, instead of who it should be (and was during the Roberts nomination), the DEMOCRATS!!!!!!!!! Again, you will never please 100% of...
  • Right to Die Case - What is the proper vote?

I've been wondering, what is the proper vote in the Oregon right to die case. Is it to let Oregon to do what it wants because of state rights? Or does the question of preserving life weigh more heavily. Which is the way a strict-constructionist, originalist, texulaist, etc. would vote on this case. I read that Thomas might go one way, while Scalia and Roberts another. Is it the case that this case has no definite answer? If so, will the CJ's vote give us a good idea of what he would do in future cases around state rights. Someone...

Okay, lets say for a moment that Miers winds up voting with Scalia and Thomas. Let's also say that she is qualified. Let's also forget about the fact that cronyism played a part here. She could wind up being a great justice. The one thing I still cannot get around is why Bush and his people would be willing to risk this all on someone who is already 60 years old!!! Does anyone else on here, besides all the other reasons against her, see a problem with her age (then again if she winds up being a bad justice, we'll...
  • Vanity - Can we beat this pick?

Can we beat this pick? I don't think so, but we can try. Here are three options: 1) Try to beat her in committee - A possibility, but highly unlikely. Enought Democrats would vote for her, that it wouldn't matter if we can get 2-3 Republicans not to. 2) Try to beat her on the floor - Never going to happen. We would be lucky to get 4-5 Republicans to vote against her and I believe most Democrats will vote for her. Bush will probably only need 5-10 Republicans once the Democrats decide voting for her as a whole is...
