Mr. McConnell has raised the possibility of treating Mr. Trump’s loss as a given and describing a Republican Senate to voters as a necessary check on a President Hillary Clinton, according to senators at the lunches.

Bill O'Reilly grilled Republican presidential candidate Marco Rubio on what his policy will be on illegal immigration and immigration in general. The candidate appeared on Monday's broadcast of FOX News Channel's The O'Reilly Factor. Rubio said his immigration plan, once the U.S.-Mexico border is secure, "depends on what the American people will support." Rubio says once "we prove to the American people" that illegal immigration is under control, he believes Americans will respond in a "very rational, reasonable and responsible way."

I have a little bit of advice for Cruz and Rubio tomorrow when it comes to defeating Trump. Some of the advice is tactical, but the more important advice is strategic. Attack Trump early, relentlessly, on everything, and never, ever stop. The tactical advice is that you should stop saying that Trump is for single-payer. That is too bloodless. Say that Trump was for a government-owned, and government-rationed, health care monopoly. Also try to work in the argument that Trump would give us the corruption of the Clintons with the huge government of Bernie Sanders. Archbishop Blase Cupich of the Archdiocese of Chicago has asked his congregation to be compassionate toward gay people following the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision last week to legalize gay marriage nationwide. Cupich said in a news release that Catholic Church teachings call on members to avoid unjust discrimination of gay people. He said the respect must be real and reflective of the Church’s commitment to accept all people.

But it was Archbishop Blase Cupich who delivered the most forceful remarks, saying that if lawmakers disagree with Democratic President Barack Obama's executive actions to prevent deportation of those who are here illegally, "then Congress should supersede them by passing comprehensive immigration reform legislation." Several hundred delegates of the Nevada Republican Party approved a party platform April 19 that drops both its pro-life plank and support for the definition of marriage as a union of one man and one woman.
