President Obama makes a rush hour foray into Seattle and the Eastside on Tuesday, once more holding no public events and raising money from donors who will pay up to $25,000 to see the 44th president and ask Obama a question. The President’s political ATM machine will operate at two destinations, the Madrona home of Bruce and Anne Blume alongside Lake Washington and the Medina mansion of Costco co-founder Jim Sinegal. One event is for the Democratic National Committee, the other will benefit the Senate Majority PAC. Air Force One is due to land at Boeing Field around 3 p.m.,...

When I was a small child, one of the most dramatic and effective business boycotts in the history of America occurred. This, of course, was the Montgomery bus boycott. By refusing to ride the bus, blacks who were being discriminated against were able to terminate many discriminatory practices not only in Alabama, but throughout the South. The white-owned businesses were clearly being unfair, and the public transportation system was no better. The actions taken were appropriate and in many cases heroic. I cannot independently confirm the accuracy of this story but it comes from a well trusted friend. It is my wish that repeating it may cause someone with the means to investigate further to research. When an individual attempted to purchase Dinesh D'Souza's book "America" at a San Diego County Costco, the following scenario occurred. There were none on the shelf and she asked an employee if any were available. He pulled her aside and told her to please not reveal that he told her but that Costco was perpetuating a huge fraud on consumers. He further explained that the...

As Dave Weigel reports in a tart blog post today, conservative author and filmmaker Dinesh D’Souza recently managed to pull off an impressive marketing feat. D’Souza and his lawyers claimed that despite the hit status of his new book and movie, “America,” Google was deliberately downgrading the project in its search results and Costco had removed the book from shelves for politically motivated reasons. The result? Google bumped “America” up in the rankings and Costco restocked the book. Of course, as Weigel explains, “D’Souza’s book, like his movie [which made $2.75 million in its first weekend], is no runaway hit....

This includes our selection of books. Our book buyers are solely interested in book sales, and do not favor any political persuasion over another. President Barack Obama’s campaign to raise tax rates on the top 2% will cause far more economic pain to the 98% than to the truly rich. First, the truly rich have already demonstrated their ability to avoid much of the Obama tax hikes. At the same time, the higher marginal tax rates he demands will reduce the opportunities for economic activity, leading to slower growth and fewer job opportunities for the 98%. Finally, those with high incomes inevitably will shift much of the burden of Obama tax hike to those with lower incomes. Let’s start with the ruse that the...

Below are snoips of the original articles where this information came from

A concealed carry killing raises dangerous questions. You don’t want to commit a crime in Las Vegas — at least not on TV. On the tube, you’ll be relentlessly pursued by a group of young, beautiful, highly educated and competent crime scene investigators who work in gleaming glass and steel labs surrounded by state of the art equipment that would make MIT green with envy. So ethical and competent are they — and the police force they serve — that if a molecule of evidence exists in the known universe, they’ll find it and brilliantly use it against a suspect...
  • Distributing products through Costco? (Vanity)

Has anybody ever distributed a product with Costco? What are their business policies like? What type of information about my company are they going to ask for? I do not want to list my suppliers, list my profits, costs or other information. I heard that they drive a hard bargin. Would they ask for this information? Also what kind of information do I need to prove to them that my product is worth their floorspace?

Ruh roh! It appears that because of reasons surrounding the facts that while Costco has carried iPods and iTunes cards from their retail locations for quite a while now, Apple has never allowed them to sell Apple items on their webpage (like other retailers can) and Costco didn’t gain distribution rights for the iPad, Costco’s pulling the plug. Costco is said to be the third largest retailer and the largest membership warehouse dealer in the USA. Them stopping sales of Apple products completely is almost certainly going to be a stinger in Apple’s side.

The "Long Gray Line" is bringing pressure on the Vegas department following Erik Scott's death in a hail of bullets. It was a foregone conclusion that a coroner’s inquest in Las Vegas would find three Metro police officers justified in gunning down Erik Scott in a hail of bullets outside of a crowded Costco on July 10, even though five of the seven bullets hit him from behind, and at least one appeared to have been fired while Scott lay prone, dead or dying on the ground. Police were called to the store after an employee described Scott as both...

Wentworth Eatherton, the husband of the previous witness, Annette, said he called into a public radio program recently when he heard Scott’s father and attorney saying things about the shooting that he said weren't true. Eatherton said they claimed the police didn't need to shoot Scott and that the police were only 2 feet away, but that wasn’t true, he said. Eatherton recalled words he heard Scott say while in the aisle at Costco.
