  • Doug McIntyre: Donald J. Trump: Not my candidate but my president (Barf alert)

    Los Angeles Daily News ^ | January 14, 2017 | Doug McIntyre
This week our country gets a new president, our 45th, Donald J. Trump. Many people spark to Mr. Trump's blunt "If you hit me I hit back twice as hard" style. They find him refreshing. I don't find Donald Trump refreshing. I think he's the most ill-prepared and ill-suited person ever elevated to the office. With that said, I hope he turns out to be as "amazing", "fantastic", "terrific", "awesome", and "really, really, really good" as he claims he will be. I don't root for presidents to fail. I didn't root for George W. Bush to fail or Barack Obama....
  • ‘Borderline Offensive’: Debbie Wasserman Schultz Left Nearly Speechless After Tough Interview

If those interviews by DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, where she does nothing but spew talking points and condescending quips, annoy you, then you will likely jump for joy over what you’re about to hear. Doug McIntyre, a radio host at 790 KABC-RADIO in Los Angeles, interviewed the chairwoman on Monday about the DNC’s decision to name LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa to head the party’s convention. As McIntyre notes, Villaraigosa has his critics in Southern California (“Los Angeles can’t even pave the sidewalks”), and McIntryre was floored that he was chosen. Considering that, he did the opposite of a fluff...

The Russians have an interesting idea on how to fight political corruption. Igor Lebedev, a party deputy for the Liberal Democrats in the Duma, the Russian Parliament, has proposed branding the hands of any government official caught taking bribes. Apparently "Liberal" in Russia is a little less liberal than Santa Monica. If Igor's law passes, sticky-fingered Russian pols would have the letter K (for krookski?) branded onto their paws. All future voters would know at the handshake to hide their wallets. I know we could never do something like this in Los Angeles because we don't have enough blacksmiths. The...
  • So much for Howie Carr reruns on WRKO; picks up "Red Eye" (?)

Last week it was noticed that WRKO Boston was running Howie Carr reruns 1-5 am instead of Coast to Coast. Apparently they lost the rights to that show to WKOX AM 1200 (which began to run it a few days later, though most of the time they're in Spanish--for now; full switch to conservative talk radio for 1200 happens in April.) Now I look at WRKO's site and it lists "Red Eye" weeknights 1-5 am. If it's what I'm thinking it is, this is the new show (new nationally, at least) hosted by Doug McIntyre of KABC and WABC fame...

San Gabriel Valley Tribune McIntyre's back on the air at KABC By Richard Wagoner, Radio Columnist Posted: 02/11/2010 09:34:47 PM PST Ever since Doug McIntyre was shown the door at KABC (790 AM) last year, I have received letters and e-mails almost daily asking where he is or when he will be back. McIntyre had been with KABC for years, first as the overnight host on a program called "Red Eye Radio," and most recently as the station's morning man. When he was dropped from the roster, he mentioned the possibility of resurrecting "Red Eye Radio" as a syndicated...

WRKO 680 Boston is apparently joining WABC New York and KABC Los Angeles in dropping Coast to Coast from its lineup, though apparently for a different reason. The NYC and LA stations are picking up the new Doug McIntyre show from Citadel while WRKO will be re-running Howie Carr from 1-5 am And this latter case in Boston probably has to do with the fact that Clear Channel is launching a talk station in April on AM 1200, WXKS. Premiere radio syndicates Coast To Coast, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity--and Rush Limbaugh. No doubt Coast to Coast is heading there. Premiere/Clear...

PREMIERE President of Content and Affiliate Relations JULIE TALBOTT responded to WABC's move to cancel "COAST TO COAST AM" by telling ALL ACCESS, "It’s shocking when a top-rated program is removed from a station. However, we’re incredibly proud that COAST TO COAST AM continues to be the most-listened-to overnight radio program in NORTH AMERICA, broadcasting live on 527 affiliates to more than three million passionate and loyal listeners each week who enjoy hearing one of the most relevant and entertaining shows in the news-talk world."

FROM the time we are little kids and see that first big red "F" scrawled across the top of a quiz, we try to steer clear of failure. Failure is personal - which is why Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa must be very unhappy these days. A trip to the grocery store or even his beloved LAX newsstands will be joyless for the entire month of June, thanks to Ed Leibowitz and those killjoys at Los Angeles Magazine. "Failure" is the headline plastered on the cover of the latest issue. Right there in big letters across the mayor's body, an epitaph to...

Larry Elder hosts a daily radio talk show on KABC in Los Angeles. Last Wednesday, I was listening to his post election analysis. He was relating the previous Tuesday night's election coverage show which he co-hosted with KABC colleagues Doug McIntyre and Al Rantel. During this show, Larry was astonished to learn that both McIntyre and Rantel had voted for Obama. Both McIntyre and Rantel, like Larry, are supposedly free market, small government types. He found their explanations for voting for Obama to be absurd and goofy. They were so nonsensical that Larry felt like he was surrounded by the...

A year-long feud between a talk radio personality and an L.A. charter school is ending up in an unusual court case. School administrators filed a lawsuit this week against KABC-AM (790) and Doug McIntyre, alleging the host of "McIntyre in the Morning" targeted the school in a slanderous, racially motivated campaign last summer that resulted in a bomb threat to the school and ongoing security risks. Academia Semillas del Pueblo and Marcos Aguilar, the El Sereno school's co-director, claim McIntyre "targeted the school for destruction because the children were Latino, the teachers were Latino, the principal director was Latino," according...

Officials from a Los Angeles charter school are suing KABC-AM (790) and "McIntyre in the Morning" host Doug McIntyre for slander, alleging the school was the target of an on-air, racist campaign that led to a bomb scare. Academia Semillas Del Pueblo and its principal director of operations, Marcos Aguilar, filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles Superior Court. They are seeking unspecified general, compensatory and punitive damages. "McIntyre implemented a premeditated scheme to bring down the school at all costs because the school educated predominately ... Latino-indigenous children in a non-Western European format," according to the lawsuit. According to...

A radical Hispanic group is promoting a boycott of the Walt Disney Company because, contends the Mexica Movement, the entertainment giant "has made a habit of hiring talk show hosts who spread the Minutemen white supremacist racist agenda." The boycott announcement specifically cites radio legend and Presidential Medal of Freedom winner Paul Harvey, as well as popular talker Doug McIntyre. Both Harvey and McIntyre are nationally syndicated by ABC, which is owned by Disney. McIntyre was instrumental in exposing a taxpayer-funded Los Angeles school backed by radical groups that lay claim to the Southwestern U.S. As WND reported, the principal...

Guys this is a propaganda piece from the California Charter Schools Association in support of Marcus Aguilar and his school. It was released on June 7, 2006 and it flew under the radar. Since I like taking news that have been thrown in the garbage, I thought I would share it with you. What is interesting is the press release are filled with lies and it tries to promote Mr. Aguilar and the make up of the school itself. The principal of a Los Angeles charter elementary school said Wednesday that neither he nor his staff ordered the assault of a KABC-AM radio reporter last week. Sandy Wells, the reporter working for KABC's morning show, "McIntyre in the Morning," was allegedly assaulted outside the school last week by a man demanding his audio tape. Station officials said Wells was also followed as he drove away. Rumors of Aguilar's involvement stemmed from an on-air caller to KABC's morning show, claiming he witnessed Aguilar order the attack, according to producer John Phillips. Police are investigating the incident. "I know for a...

Responding to allegations of discrimination, the school district has concluded that an elementary school catering to students of Mexican descent is following its charter, officials said Monday. The district sent observers after Sandy Wells, a reporter working for KABC-AM, was allegedly assaulted outside the school Thursday by a man who demanded his audio tape. Station officials said Wells was also followed as he drove away. Police are investigating the incident. "They have followed the charter that they wrote originally," said Kevin Reed, chief legal counsel for the district. "What we care about is that the curriculum is inclusive and not...

CBS) LOS ANGELES A local radio reporter was assaulted Thursday while leaving a Los Angeles charter school that his station has said imparts separatist ethics, a station official said. The reporter, Sandy Wells, was not hurt, according to station spokesman Steve Sheldon. Wells was leaving the campus of Academia Semillas Del Pueblo, 4736 Huntington Drive, after interviewing the principal when a car came around the corner, jumped the curb and the driver tried to run him down, Sheldon said. Wells managed to dodge the car, but the driver, a man who appeared to be in his mid-20s, got out and...

On Brown vs. Board of Education, Topeka "If Brown was just about letting Black people into a White school, well we don’t care about that anymore. We don’t necessarily want to go to White schools. What we want to do is teach ourselves, teach our children the way we have of teaching. We don’t want to drink from a White water fountain, we have our own wells and our natural reservoirs and our way of collecting rain in our aqueducts. We don’t need a White water fountain. There’s nothing harder in public life than admitting you’re wrong. By the way, admitting you’re wrong can be even tougher in private life. If you don’t believe me, just ask Bill Clinton or Charlie Sheen. But when you go out on the limb in public, it’s out there where everyone can see it, or in my case, hear it. So, I’m saying today, I was wrong to have voted for George W. Bush. In historic terms, I believe George W. Bush is the worst two-term President in the history of the country. Worse than Grant. I also believe a case...

Sunday, February 06, 2005 - Those of you who follow such things and are old enough to remember, back in ought-four, Liberal Talk Radio in the guise of Air America was a bedrock of the Los Angeles airwave wars. We were all younger then. A time of great progressive hope, before there was even a President George W. Bush with a popular vote margin; before we even heard of "Spider-man 2." It was much different. Tom Daschle was a senator. Vioxx was a wonder drug. Adrian Beltre was a Dodger and the Boston Red Sox were cursed. It was a...
