A furniture store in Takoma Park, Maryland that calls itself a “Weapons Free Environment” took its policy a bit too far on Independence Day. That’s when a loss prevention officer at IKEA approached Alan Goldberg, who carried a visible, holstered firearm into the store, telling him he would have to leave the premises or place the weapon in his vehicle, according to NBC Washington. The request caught Goldberg off guard: he is Takoma Park’s chief of police, and he was in uniform during his visit.

Put yourself in a criminal’s position. You feel like shooting and killing a bunch of people, and you want to be met with as little opposition as possible. If you go to a place that allows concealed carry, there’s a risk that someone could take you out before you start shooting, and that’s a risk you don’t want to take. Naturally, you’d go to a place that has heavy restrictions on gun-carriers. INDIANAPOLIS - Governor Mike Pence has signed a bill allowing guns to be locked in cars on school property as long as they are hidden and in the parking lot. Carjackers shot and killed a man in front of his horrified wife Sunday in the parking structure of an upscale New Jersey mall. The 30-year-old victim was attacked by two thugs and shot in the head at The Mall at Short Hills in Millburn at around 9:10 p.m. “It was at least two gunshots. People started ducking and panicking,” Rick Ramos, who works at the mall’s California Pizza Kitchen, told The Post. “We had to barricade everyone inside. I could hear a woman screaming her head off. It was brutal. She was shrieking.”

Three employees of a Starbucks coffee store near Georgetown were found brutally slain yesterday morning, sending shock waves through a community generally immune from such violence.The bodies of night manager Mary Caitrin Mahoney, 25, Emory Allen Evans, 25, and Aaron David Goodrich, 18, were found at 5:15 a.m. in a back room of the store at 1810 Wisconsin Ave. NW, in Burleith, just north of Georgetown, police said. Heard it second hand through the Newtown grapevine this weekend that there is surveillance camera footage on Dec 14, 2012 likely showing Adam Lanza pulling into Newtown High School before heading to Sandy Hook Elementary. Evidently there was some sort of drug-related police presence at the high school that morning, more than the daily single squad car out front, that may have deterred him to a softer target. The Wyoming House of Representatives has passed two right to carry improvement bills. House Bill 103, introduced by state Representative Allen Jaggi (R-19), would strengthen the state’s authority over firearm laws while prohibiting counties from enacting their own ordinances in clear violation of the current state firearms preemption statute.
