VENTURA, Calif. (AP) -- A Southern California teenager has been sentenced to 21 years in state prison for killing a gay student during a computer lab class three years ago. Brandon McInerney didn't speak on Monday but his attorney said his client is deeply remorseful for the murder of 15-year-old Larry King. The victim's family said they couldn't forgive their son's killer.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — There were many missed opportunities to prevent the murder of a 15-year-old gay student at E.O. Green Junior High School in Oxnard. Teachers and students saw a simmering feud between Brandon McInerney and Larry King but said they were either ignored by administrators or did little or nothing to intervene. King's mother said she pleaded with school officials to help tone down her son's increasingly flamboyant behavior. One teacher encouraged King to explore his sexuality and gave him a dress. Nearly four years after McInerney, then 14, shot King in the head before stunned classmates, plenty...

Larry King's feminine attire was upsetting some of the students and faculty at E.O. Green Junior High in Oxnard. But there was nothing Assistant Principal Joy Epstein could do about it because King's high-heeled boots, earrings and eye makeup were within the Oxnard school's dress policy, Epstein testified Monday at the murder trial of King's classmate, Brandon McInerney. ..."They said we had to protect his civil rights and his equal rights," Epstein said. "We could not discriminate between a boy or a girl wearing those items to school." Epstein's testimony came on the fifth day of McInerney's murder trial. The...

Talk Show King Would Like to Interview Kim Jong-il The veteran U.S. talk show host Larry King, who has interviewed about 50,000 celebrities from around the world including seven U.S. presidents, says the Korean he would most like to interview is Kim Jong-il. King was talking with participants after a keynote speech at the Seoul Digital Forum 2011 in Seoul on Wednesday. He said it would be interesting to interview the reclusive dictator because "people who are perceived as evil by the world... They don't think they’re different and they don't look in the mirror and say I'm evil and...

Hair jokes were in no short supply at last night's Comedy Central roast of Donald Trump, but the quip that had the audience shocked was when CNN icon Larry King made fun of his former co-worker Anderson Cooper's sexuality. Pretending he was still hosting his now-defunct talk show, King took calls from viewers throughout the country and then tossed to Anderson, whose '360' followed his 'Live' show every night for years. "Anderson Cooper is coming up next. Let's see what SHE'S up to," Larry said to the packed house. Anderson, who never talks about his sexuality in public, has been...

Both Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity and MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow offered their best to outgoing legendary anchor Larry King on Dec. 16, his final broadcast night. But how does the outgoing CNN anchor feel about them? On CNN’s Sunday broadcast of “Reliable Sources,” host Howard Kurtz asked King about his competitors, which he was third to in the ratings at the tail-end of his career. King admitted they were good at what they did, but said he didn’t particularly care for it. “They got better ratings,” King said. “However, I don’t regret anything and I’m happy with what I did.

However Piers is like Bill Clinton-you know he’s a weasel but you have to watch him and, despite his champagne socialist lifestyle, as with Bill, you cannot fail to admire the Houdini like skill with which he so often extricates himself from a vast pile of steaming manure and manages to come up smelling of roses.

Larry King's last "Larry King Live" show was a nonstop promenade of high-profile names and faces Thursday, including a current and a former president, a gaggle of news anchors and the like, King's wife and kids, and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger declaring it "Larry King Day." Tony Bennett serenaded the host with "The Best Is Yet to Come." King himself even thanked "the suits at the top." But the standout, perhaps, was Katie Couric. Who wrote a poem. For Larry. And read it, out loud. All of it. On purpose. The text of the poem -- "filled with love" from Couric...

Barbra Streisand appeared on Larry King Live and said in a way she was glad Hillary Clinton wasn’t the first female president, because in this economic crisis, they would have probably blamed her gender. Of course, she, along with the countless others in Hollywood, cannot go one interview without mentioning Bush, or the “8 years preceding”. It’s a rather odd love-affair they seem to have with the former president.

Larry King signs off.. My appearance on his show.. They don't make them like Larry King anymore. The Veteran CNN talk show host signed off for the last time tonight. He was on the air for 25 years. He was such a pro, that he made it look so easy. I remember back in June of 2003 when I was asked to be on his show. I was covering a horrible murder case in Dallas at the time. Despite the topic, it was an honor and privilege to have appeared - albeit briefly on his show. (They asked me back...

On Wednesday’s broadcast of “Larry King Live” on CNN, the second-to-final show for host Larry King, singer Barbra Streisand explained why she left the country during November’s midterm. “I went to Europe because of this last election,” she said. “I couldn’t face — I didn’t want to be here for this bloodbath. There was no reason for the Republicans to win that many seats in the House, I didn’t think. And that was a — you know, a mistake on the Democrats’ part for not getting their message across, not communicating all that they’ve done that’s good.” ...more (w/video)...

The ability of Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chávez to charm celebrities seems to be a never-ending feat. Beyond the normal cast of characters, like Oliver Stone, Sean Penn and Danny Glover, Chávez has managed to add another fan to his roster. As part of his departure tour from CNN, after 25 years at the network, King appeared on NFL Network anchor Rich Eisen’s Dec. 8 podcast and raved about his fascination with dictators, specifically Chávez. “You know who’s fascinating?” King said. “Dictators. Chávez was fascinating, from Venezuela – one, because he’s a crazy baseball fan.” ...more (w/audio)...

Sarah Palin may not have the biggest fan in former first lady Barbara Bush. "I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful," Barbara Bush said. "And she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there." Bush, along with her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, spoke to CNN's Larry King in an interview set to air Monday. Last night’s “Parker-Spitzer” saw the lowest numbers yet for the program and the show did little to help the one that followed on the schedule — “Larry King Live” which had its worst numbers in more than 10 years. In its sixth outing, “Parker-Spitzer” drew 311,000 Total Viewers and 86,000 A25-54 viewers. That’s lower than the previous low for the time period set by Campbell Brown earlier this year. (332,000 / 87,000). Last week, Parker-Spitzer finished fourth in the time period averaging 465,000 Total Viewers and 124,000 A25-54. At 9pmET, “Larry King Live” put up its lowest A25-54 demo viewership...

CNN Just Clocked Its Worst Primetime Ratings In 10 Years Thanks To Eliot Spitzer And Larry King Joe Pompeo | Oct. 12, 2010, 5:51 PM | 161 | comment 6 CNN executives say they want to give Eliot Spitzer and Kathleen Parker's week-old discussion program time to grow. But perhaps they're reconsidering in light of the show's performance Monday night, when it drew just 311,000 viewers at 8 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research, far fewer than it had any night last week following its Oct. 4 premiere. The low numbers for "Parker Spitzer" helped give CNN its worst average...

With a firm exit date in sight, outgoing CNN host Larry King is apparently weighing his options. We have already reported that King may be plotting a return to radio with Ryan Seacrest, but it looks like the broadcasting legend may seriously be eying another TV gig… as a sports host. Broadcasting & Cable’s Ben Grossman caught up with King at a Los Angeles Angels game, and dropped this little nugget in his column: We had a nice chat, and he told me he doesn’t feel that old, and is in fine health outside of a sore hip once in...

Newly minted CNN 9 PM host Piers Morgan knows he is not a familiar journalistic face to American audiences. He also knows that the cable news landscape is full of big personalities and opinions. Morgan has no intention of aping the competition, or using his new platform to push a political agenda. "I have a lot of opinions, do I want to shove them down my viewer's throats? No, there are enough people doing that on cable news at 8 or 9 o'clock at the moment," Morgan says. "I don't want people to view me as a political animal, I...
