  • The RNC needs a good campaign theme song.(Vanity)

Everytime a Republican starts playing a song at a rally, a liberal musician starts crying to stop it. I think I found one that might work that is patriotic, hopeful, and would serve Romney/Ryan well. As the RNC has no skill in this stuff, perhaps we might offer them some options.

OK here are the 5 songs from popular music ( obviously not hymns) which I believe most embellish a conservative work ethic. 1) Life's what you make it-Talk Talk 2) Everything's alright-OST Jesus Christ Superstar ( Rice, lloyd Webber) 3) Stand by your man -Tammy Wynett 4) The devil went down to Georgia-Charlie Daniels Theme tune to the Flashing Blade " You've got to fight for what you want"

Tough times. So many close to me are enduring such hard times. Our beloved country is under attack from so many forces. We deal with so many issues, problems daily.... I merely wish to offer the gift of music to my fellow FReepers. Music is a gift from God. I'm a guitarist of over 40 years; music has gotten me through so much.... Sit back....crank up your speakers.....and listen to one of the most amazing live performances you will ever hear. This is my man, Gary Moore....live, in Stockholm, in 1987 playing "Empty Rooms". If you don't know Gary's work,...

'Scott McKenzie has died in Los Angeles at the age of 73. ‘If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear a flower in your hair’ is one of the great hippy songs of its era and defined San Francisco in the 60s. Scott was born Philip Blondheim on 10 January, 1939. He died on Saturday in Los Angeles after two weeks in hospital.'
  • Liberal Musician 'Rages' in Diatribe Aimed at Paul Ryan

Contrary to popular belief, 'Paul Ryan is not Freddy Kruger'. Mainstream media outlets wasted little time in their attempt to discredit the newly appointed vice presidential candidate, while practically ignoring every new gaffe committed by the current one. The constant and vicious attacks of his conservative views and budget proposals mirror the ordeal Sarah Palin endured, but the career congressman has dealt with it all before.  Seemingly everyone has an unfavorable opinion that they're anxious to share, including musicians like Rage Against the Machine lead guitarist Tom Morello. In one of his many op-eds for Rolling Stone, the Nightwatchman called Ryan...

First New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was rebuffed by The Boss. Now another well-know liberal musician has spurned the advances of a right-wing politician-fan. In a brutal Rolling Stone editorial, Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello calls Paul Ryan, Mitt Romney's recent vice presidential pick, the "embodiment of the machine that our music has been raging against for two decades."

The Whipped Cream Lady who is the model on the memorable LP cover of the 1965 Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass' "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" is 76 now and living in Longview. Dolores Erickson wants to tell all you teen dreamers, "Enjoy the memories." ...The record spent 141 weeks on Billboard's Top 40 albums chart. In later years, at concerts, Alpert would tell audiences, "Sorry, but I can't play the cover for you." ...Erickson drove up here to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Golden Oldies, the used-record store in Wallingford. A steady stream of fans stopped by, including,...

Devo to unleash song about Mitt Romney's dog Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! mocks the Republican presidential candidate by documenting the time he strapped the family dog to his car roof during a 12-hour road trip in the 80s. Devo's next song is about Mitt Romney's dog. The American new wave band are putting an Irish setter front and centre on Don't Roof Rack Me, Bro! (Remember Seamus), which takes fire at the Republican presidential candidate. Twenty-nine years ago Romney took his family on a 12-hour road trip from Boston to Ontario, strapping the family dog to a kennel on...

Most priests, if they are lucky and smart, have a trained music director or organist to whom they can refer the Bride (sometimes with the groom) to finalize music for weddings. Then he can refer them and avoid a ton of trouble. Yet, occasionally he has to duck for cover when the flak from the battle between bride and organist gets thick.Don’t get me wrong, everything generally goes fine and most brides and grooms are just fine. But every now and then, there’s a bride (and sometimes a groom) who are the irresistible force that meet the immoveable object (i.e....

Was there an award Marvin Hamlisch didn't win? He was showered with many honors throughout his illustrious career, winning Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, Golden Globes and a Tony. Then there's the Pulitzer Prize. But more than his awards, he gave audiences endless soundtracks to their lives, composing scores for films directed by Woody Allen and that included Meryl Streep and Robert Redford. "The Way We Were" is just one example of his artistic heft; the No. 1 hit, immortalized by Barbra Streisand, is one of the most revered songs of all time. Doris Day, Barry Manilow and even Beyonce have covered...
