POLITICO Chief Political Columnist Roger Simon is accusing Texas Governor Rick Perry of sending National Guard troops to the border so they can "shoot small children." Roger Simon ✔ @politicoroger Rick Perry sending 1,000 National Guard troops to border to shoot small children. Could make good headlines -- in Russia. 8:45 PM - 21 Jul 2014 First off, lets just mark this under most asinine statement of the day. Second, funny how Simon conveniently ignores why Perry is sending the troops: to stop cartels and gang members who actually shoot and murder small children from entering the United States. Here's...

On July 3, 2014, Texas Governor Rick Perry told Members of the U.S. House Committee on Homeland Security that urgent federal action was required to stem the humanitarian and national security crises unfolding along the Texas-Mexico border. After almost three weeks of inaction by the Obama administration, yesterday, Gov. Perry directed Texas Adjutant General John Nichols to immediately begin preparations for the deployment of up to 1,000 National Guard troops to the U.S. – Mexico border. These troops will support the Texas Department of Public Safety’s (DPS) ongoing law enforcement surge, Operation Strong Safety, which is focused on combatting criminal...

Texas Governor Rick Perry announced Monday afternoon that he is sending 1,000 members of the Texas National Guard to the U.S.-Mexican border. “Over the years I have repeatedly called on the federal government to live up to its responsibility of protecting this great nation by securing the border,” said Perry, who added that he will “not stand idly by while our citizens are under assault and little children from Central America are detained in squalor.” Under assault might be an understatement. According to Perry, more than 203,000 illegal aliens responsible for committing more than 640,000 crimes, including 3000 homicides, have...

Many events trigger responses across multiple jurisdictions and different levels of government. The National Guard is exceptionally suited for its Homeland Defense role due to its geographically disperse forces with links to local communities and ties to state and local governments. These relationships allow for rapid and integrated responses in times of emergency. Because of its unique dual constitutional authority, the National Guard serves to bridge the “zone of ambiguity” across State and Federal government boundaries. The National Guard is the only United States military force that operates across both State and Federal responses, leveraging State Active Duty (SAD), Full-Time...

Juan "Chuy" Hinojosa, D-McAllen, confirmed Sunday night. In Iowa on Sunday, Perry told a small group at a VFW hall that if President Barack Obama fails...

Gov. Rick Perry to deploy 1,000 National Guard troops to RGV Texas Gov. Rick Perry plans to announce he will activate the Texas National Guard at a news conference Monday in Austin, said state Sen. Juan “Chuy” Hinojosa, D-McAllen. Hinojosa did not have details of the effort, but an internal memo from another state official’s office said the governor planned to call about 1,000 Texas National Guard troops to the Rio Grande Valley — at a cost of about $12 million per month. The memo was provided to The Monitor on the condition of anonymity because the information is...

President Barack Obama will likely have to send National Guard troops to the southern U.S. border to assist Border Patrol agents with the influx of illegal immigrants crossing into the country, said Rep. Adam Kinzinger. "At the end of the day, the president's probably, if he really wants to solve the border crisis, at least in the short term, is probably going to have to deploy National Guard soldiers to alleviate what the Border Patrol's having to do," the Illinois Republican told "Fox & Friends" on Wednesday. Kinzinger said the Obama administration needs to ensure that the Department of Defense...

House Republicans announced Tuesday they will recommend dispatching the National Guard to South Texas and speeding Central American youths back home as their response to the immigration crisis that’s engulfing the border and testing Washington’s ability to respond. The recommendations, to come from a working group established by House Speaker John Boehner, will set up a clash with leading Democrats who oppose changing U.S. law to eliminate automatic immigration hearings for Central American kids and return them more quickly to Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, where some areas are overrun by brutal gangs. With Democrats and the White House under...

exas Gov. Rick Perry slammed President Barack Obama on Fox News Sunday, once again demanding the National Guard, and called on Obama to stop the blame game and get up and lead. Host Brit Hume asked Perry to explain why he wants the National Guard sent to Texas, inquiring skeptically, “What exactly would National Guardsman and women do on the border?” Perry explained that the National Guard acts as a front-line deterrent for illegal immigrants, and is critically important now, because most border patrol agents are stuck taking care of the illegal immigrant children. “The president was not even aware...

Iowa Senate candidate Joni Ernst will take a break from campaigning for two weeks to take part in active-duty training for the Iowa National Guard. But before lacing up her boots, Ernst was to record the Republicans' national radio address, the Republican National Committee said Friday. Ernst, a lieutenant colonel and state senator from southwest Iowa, recorded the speech Thursday evening just hours before she was scheduled to report for duty at 6 a.m. From central Iowa Ernst was leading a convoy to Fort McCoy, Wisconsin, where for the next two weeks she will drill with her transportation battalion....

(CNN) -- The national controversy over a surge of Central American immigrants illegally crossing the U.S. border established a new battleground this week in a small Southern California town, where angry crowds stopped detained migrants from entering their community. The sentiment carried over to a raucous Wednesday night meeting at a Murrieta high school auditorium. Border Patrol and immigration officials got an earful. "This is an invasion," attendee Heidi Klute said before a full house. :snip: Local politicians appear to be in lockstep with their constituents. "It's a nationwide problem, and little ol' Murrieta has taken the lead," said Mayor...

Not only does he refuse to enforce the law, but he openly invites this flood of illegal aliens to illegally cross the border into America while forcing the border patrol to stand down, and he looks to his criminal regime to give them safe harbor. Now he wants to dump them on the states against the will of the people. This is high crimes and treason and he must be held accountable. Obama is the most unlawful president ever! Congress must impeach!! These are just this morning's headlines on the Drudge Report: VIDEO: Coyote smuggles illegals across on jet ski...Migrants...

According to reports, the Army National Guard is pushing back against a plan to send every one of its 192 Apache attack helicopters to the active duty Army. Some may think this is no big deal. However, this is coming from an administration that loathes the military and wants to weaken America to the point that it cannot defend herself. The trade would replace the Guard's attack helicopters with 111 UH-60 Black Hawks, basically transport and utility helicopters. This trade comes amid claims that there are deep budget cuts, according to Obama's own sequestration. Make no mistake, this is an...

House Speaker John Boehner called on President Obama to send the National Guard to the U.S.-Mexico border to help push back a surge of illegal immigrants -- many of them children -- from Central America. “Our country is facing a national security and humanitarian crisis along our southern border,” the Ohio Republican said in a letter Friday to the president. “Thousands of children and families are pouring across our borders, overwhelming our resources and endangering those most vulnerable to exploitation.” Boehner said the National Guard is "uniquely qualified" to respond to such a crisis because it's "able to help deal...

Organizers of San Francisco’s pride weekend festivities have yanked the welcome mat away from the National Guard, voting to ban the Guard from setting up a booth at the festival. The decision comes at the same time Pride organizers are allowing a controversial Army private who leaked military secrets to be honorary grand marshal. The board of the San Francisco LGBT Pride Celebration Committee rejected a request from the Guard to set up an informational booth at Civic Center Plaza during Pride Weekend. Last year, the National Guard had a booth at Pride Weekend for the first time – staffed...

Fox News reported yesterday that Kiev is sending an "elite National Guard" to Odessa, and today the International Business Times reported that Kiev is sending an "elite National Guard" to Slavyansk. Who makes up the ranks of this elite National Guard when Vice News reported on March 19, 2014 - in their article "A look Inside Ukraine's Volunteer National Guard" - and in it said then that Ukraine had - by its own admission - only 6,000 combat-ready troops? Looks like Kiev didn't/doesn't have a pot to even... much less an "elite National Guard." BTW, Vice News was the news...

KENT, Ohio - A large crowd gathered just after 11 p.m. Saturday behind the Taylor Hall at Kent State University to honor the fallen. The crowd stood near the Victory Bell holding candles in remembrance of May 4th, 1970. It was 44 years ago that four students were killed after 67 shots were fired in 13 seconds by the National Guard. The students were pushed over to the parking lot of Prentice Hall as they were protesting the Vietnam War. Students and volunteers are still standing in the parking lot area where the four students died. The students will stand...

As if the Obama administration's purchase of more than 2 billion rounds of ammunition, and nearly 3,000 urban tanks, along with their unprecedented (and highly illegal) domestic spying program was not enough to convince you that the federal government is about to suspend the Constitution once and for all, the man who once vowed to run "the most transparent administration in history" has just rather inexplicably, ordered the U.S. Army to seize every Apache attack helicopter currently in use by the National Guard. In all, the Defense Department will confiscate 192 Apaches from National Guard units around the country and...
