Most of us, if we read the LDN, are acquainted with a talented writer, Kathleen Parker, who writes for the Washington Post. She often has an article in the Lufkin Dai|y’s Opinion pages. Oh, she is good, even when making light of God in a whimsical way. ln her article, “The tease says she’s not running” (LDN - 10-10-2011), Kathleen gleefully slams Sarah Palin’s closeness to God by referencing that Palin “finally proves that there is a God.” Miss Parker, quoting Sarah Palin, “she and her husband Todd, devote ourselves to God, family and country, her decision,” she said, “maintains...

Criticizing the conservative defenders of Herman Cain, and defending journalistic ethics in coverage of Cain and his female accusers, RealClearPolitics editor Carl M. Cannon writes, "It's the media's job to examine these stories carefully, and also to search for other possible victims and witnesses." He is, of course, correct -- in some alternative universe. The trouble is not that conservatives don't see the potential that Cain is not telling the truth. The trouble is Mr. Cannon's abysmally unprofessional colleagues, and their constant failure to do their job consistently. Four accusers should have been enough to knock any candidate out of...

According to Erik Wemple, The Washington Post’s new media writer, Sarah Palin is a hypocrite. The former Alaska governor supports abstinence education, yet according to tabloid reporter Joe McGinniss, in 1988 Palin had a one-night stand with a basketball player. Palin was not married at the time, although she was dating Todd Palin. Put all this together, writes Wemple, and Palin is “fair game.” His reasoning: “Hypocrisy is a quality that must be exposed in our political leaders: If Palin backs abstinence-only education and shuns talk of contraception and the like, then we are entitled to know whether her own...

Sarah Palin inspired her typical (yet extraordinary) level of excitement and attendance at our Tea Party Express V national bus tour rally in Manchester, NH. I overheard a national reporter commenting to two of our staff members, "Yeah, Palin draws a crowd but they are all missing teeth."I was furious! I wanted to say, "How dare you? You arrogant jerk!" I held my tongue as a representative of Tea Party Express. After attending over 200 tea parties on six national bus tours, I can assure you the majority of the attendees are extremely well informed, educated, articulate and patriotic Americans....

Obama arrived in Minnesota earlier today. "I am very pleased to be out of Washington," he said. White House press secretary Jay Carney bridled at the notion that the three-day bus tour, which traverses three battleground states Obama won in 2008, had anything to do with the fact that he’s struggling to maintain support in those states ahead of the 2012 contest. Carney said it was ridiculous to suggest that “anytime the president leaves Washington, it’s campaigning,” and that Obama was “doing what presidents do, going out into the country.”

It was the biggest non-story story in Washington since Al Gore’s global warming tirades. I’m talking about the release of thousands of emails of former Gov. Sarah Palin last Friday in Juneau, Alaska. The release of emails (printed on paper) had reporters forming lines the lengths of which made the O.J. Simpson trial look like a queue at the local Dairy Queen. News outlets such as The Washington Post publicly heralded their “read 'em here first” status. Never mind that no reporter had actually spent any time and bothered to read them. The editors just wanted to get the “full...

Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) dodged questions Sunday about releasing papers from his eight years as an Illinois state senator, and his campaign has not answered records requests from the state’s two largest newspapers. [snip] In the Democratic presidential debate in Philadelphia on Oct. 30, Obama said to Clinton: "We have just gone through one of the most secretive administrations in our history, and not releasing, I think, these records at the same time, Hillary, as you're making the claim that this is the basis for your experience, I think, is a problem." [snip] On Nov. 3, the Obama campaign sent...

Thank you NY Times, Washington Post and NBC. Enlisting the help of left-wing moon bats in a desperate attempt to find dirt on Sarah not only makes you look stupid(er), it ultimately will yield nothing of substance. In addition, you fools will have unwittingly elevated Sarah's stature by giving her a clean bill of health by her enemies. Good grief, you people are SO stupid!

When liberal investor George Soros gave $1.8 million to National Public Radio , it became part of the firestorm of controversy that jeopardized NPR’s federal funding. But that gift only hints at the widespread influence the controversial billionaire has on the mainstream media. Soros, who spent $27 million trying to defeat President Bush in 2004, has ties to more than 30 mainstream news outlets – including The New York Times, Washington Post, the Associated Press, NBC and ABC. Prominent journalists like ABC’s Christiane Amanpour and former Washington Post editor and now Vice President Len Downie serve on boards of operations...

An overwhelmingly “progressive” mainstream press, one that continually stumps for yet more citizen disarmament while for the most part ignoring what should be a major lead story/headline-generating scandal committed by officials they’re supposed to be monitoring, is all atwitter with anticipation for the upcoming royal nuptials. “All hail Kate Middleton, the woman who can rebrand the British monarchy,” Newsweek editor Tina Brown gushes as she introduces the weekly’s April 3 cover story. Thank God for that. A privileged progressive cheering on the regressive political institution of monarchy, invoking the Deity to laud the Divine Right of kings. How “Freedom is...

Two mainstream news organizations are receiving hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars from Obamacare’s Early Retiree Reinsurance Program (ERRP) — a $5 billion grant program that’s doling out cash to companies, states and labor unions in what the Obama administration considers an effort to pay for health insurance for early retirees. The Washington Post Company raked in $573,217 in taxpayer subsidies and CBS Corporation secured $722,388 worth of Americans’ money. “It is fine with me if they continue covering the ObamaCare debate,” said Rep. Marsha Blackburn, Republican of Tennessee, in an e-mail to The Daily Caller. “When NBC used to...

This article is the first in a series examining Sarah Palin’s electability, and why the Republican, Liberal, and Media Elites are using bias over analysis. As we consider the electability of candidates, namely Sarah Palin, we first must consider the candidates floors. A “floor” is a candidate’s guaranteed minimum percentage based on current polling data, accounting for all factors. Obama’s floor, or guaranteed vote, according to analysis of current polling is 43%. What this means is that 43% of people will vote for Barack Obama no matter who his opponent is. It could be much higher, but probably not any...

Age: 46 Last held public office: Governor of Alaska, 2006-2009 No one commands the adoration or loyalty of John Q. Republican quite like Sarah Palin. Master of folksy quips and pitch perfect populism, the former vice presidential candidate has fabulous base appeal. Her personal story of carrying to term a Down's child gives her unquestionable credibility with anti-abortion activists. After a gig with Fox News, two books, a TLC reality show and two years of swarming attention from the national press corps, the Palin brand is as potent as it is ubiquitous. One of the characteristics that make Palin so...

Looks like the First Dude is off the hook. The Anchorage Police Department blasted the National Enquirer’s recent report that Todd Palin is embroiled in a sex scandal involving an extramarital affair with a massage therapist who belonged to a prostitution ring. "It was just guilt by innuendo, nothing else," Lt. Dave Parker told the Daily News on Wednesday. "There’s not one scintilla of evidence that Todd Palin had anything to do with this." The Enquirer claimed 36-year-old Shailey Tripp was arrested for maintaining a house of prostitution in March and that cops had confiscated physical evidence that could tie...

Society Of Professional Journalists Claim 'Illegal Immigrant' Is An 'Offensive' Term Wednesday, December 29, 2010 By Eric Scheiner The Diversity Committee of the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) have announced an educational campaign against the term “illegal immigrant” seeking to inform reporters that the term “illegal immigrant” is “offensive” to Latinos. In the latest issue of SPJ’s magazine ‘Quill’, SPJ’s Diversity Committee member Leo Laurence writes about the campaign referencing the National Association of Hispanic Journalists’ recommendation to use “undocumented immigrant” or “undocumented worker” and to “Avoid using ‘illegal(s)’ as a noun.” In the article Laurence also makes a constitutional...

We are told by careful pollsters that half of the American people believe that American troops should be brought home from Iraq immediately. This news discourages supporters of our efforts there. Not me, though: I am relieved. Given press coverage of our efforts in Iraq, I am surprised that 90 percent of the public do not want us out right now. Between January 1 and September 30, 2005, nearly 1,400 stories appeared on the ABC, CBS, and NBC evening news. More than half focused on the costs and problems of the war, four times as many as those that discussed...

Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin's visit to Haiti was over faster than you could say cholera. Palin spent less than 48 hours in the earthquake-ravaged nation that's currently facing a growing cholera epidemic that has already killed more than 2,000 people, and mounting political unrest due to a contested election. Palin was accompanied by her reality-TV-star daughter, Bristol, and her husband, Todd. And she mostly remained off-limits to media organizations except for Fox News, the network on which she serves as a news analyst. The trip to Haiti had been planned a month in advance, and was hosted by the...

Paladino Walks on Water- Media Screams: “Carl Can’t Swim!” Now this is funny. A friend sent it to me and I just had to share it. I don’t know the author but I needed a good chuckle… Carl Paladino took a leisure stroll on top of Lake Erie today in an effort to prove he is not an evil being. The media were not fooled however, and immediately denounced this as ‘a stunt’ and “some sources” demanded an apology for all the Catholics he offended. Fred Dicker asked: “Is it true you just don’t know how to swim?” “What have...

Fred Dicker asked: "Is it true you just don't know how to swim?" "What have you got against water anyway?" "Do you have any proof that Lake Erie is wet?" Contacted for a Response Andrew Cuomo was heard to say "...". According to 'some sources' at The New York times "This was...

Technically it’s a dollar plus an agreement to assume their huge financial liabilities, but if you throw me an opportunity for a headline that sweet, I’m going to take it every time. Hopefully, in a few years and with a few trillion more tacked onto the national debt, the U.S. can get a deal like this from China. According to several people who have been briefed on the process, Mr. Harman’s bid appealed to Mr. Graham and the Post Company because Mr. Harman has said he would retain a significant number of the magazine’s 325 employees. The financial details of...
