Has the Zimmerman trial judge felt the pressure from her community, her state, as well as the United States government, including Eric Holder? How could she not? The lady prosecutor, Angela Corey, as reported, waited a long, long time, and even bypassed the Grand Jury before she decided to haul George Zimmerman in for the "unjustified" murder of Trayvon Martin. I have noticed in this trial that Judge Nelson has shown an obvious animosity toward George Zimmerman's defense lawyers. Her excuse, mostly, for her quick temper, is that she does not want to inconvenience jurors. "Hey lady," Jerry Lewis...

On a rainy night in February 2012 at a gated townhouse complex in Sanford, Fla., George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin stared at each other, and both perceived a threat. What followed is the focus of a murder trial that hinges on specific facts rather than the overarching, frequently misleading narratives that people tend to impose on this case. According to one such narrative, the case is about race, which was the reason Zimmerman, a 29-year-old neighborhood watch volunteer, thought Martin, a black teenager, looked "real suspicious" and the reason Zimmerman was not initially arrested for shooting Martin. According to another,...

(CNN) -- We have all been duped in the Trayvon Martin case. Bamboozled. This case was never "open and shut" as Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump insisted in a news conference at the start of the trial. I doubted it was that easy from Day One. Said Crump then: "The jury will have to hear all of the evidence. We think this is a simple case. No. 1: Zimmerman was a grown man with a gun. No. 2: Trayvon was a child with no blood on his hands. Literally." When I heard Crump's words, I was immediately suspicious. Could it...

On Monday, the Broward County Sheriff's Office in Florida released a public service announcement attempting to convince young people not to riot in case George Zimmerman, the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin, was acquitted of second-degree murder. That likelihood remains high, thanks to the fact that the prosecution itself was weak and pushed forward by a breathless media desperate for a racial hot point to drive ratings. The sheriff's office announced that it was "working closely with the Sanford Police Department and other local law enforcement agencies" on a "response plan in anticipation of the verdict." Sheriff Scott...

George Zimmerman will be found not guilty if his attorney connects the dots in his closing argument and the jury is fair. Then the professional race-baiters can go to work spreading disharmony. The trial concerns whether Hispanic (Peruvian) Zimmerman was acting in self-defense when he shot Martin, whom we are constantly reminded happens to be Black. Eight simple facts make it very easy to understand the now-famous murder trial of George Zimmerman for the shooting death of Trayvon Martin unfolding in Sanford, Florida. Finding the truth doesn't require all the subjective testimony and opinion dominating the trial: (1) It had...

Can any legal minded FReepers answer this question? I'm thinking that if the Judge allows the Prosecution to present evidence regarding Zimmerman's school history such as classes taken, etc., then wouldn't she then be compelled to allow the Defense to present Trayvon's school history, to include suspensions, etc? If the Prosecution seeks to paint Zimmerman as 'wanna be cop' then so too shouldn't the Defense be allowed to present Trayvon as a hostile street thug?

On Monday, Wall Street Journal columnist James Taranto expanded on themes he recently wrote about relating to Florida’s thin case against George Zimmerman, the man accused of murdering Trayvon Martin in 2012. Taranto told WSJ’s Mary Kessel that the prosecution of Zimmerman, in the words of one Slate columnist, was supposed to serve as a “referendum” on racial privilege in America. “There’s a word for a trial that is held as a referendum – it’s a show trial,” Taranto said. “We don’t do show trials in this country.” “Why has the press been so convinced from the very beginning that...

President Barack Obama, more than anyone, ginned up the Trayvon Martin frenzy when he announced. "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon" in March of 2012. And I believe it . . .

It would be too easy to fault the prosecution's "star witness" for her incoherent, stumbling, disrespectful, and contradictory testimony recalling her final cell phone conversation with Trayvon Martin on the night of his shooting.

A resident of the Florida community where George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin last year after a confrontation took the stand Friday and described going out to investigate a noise and seeing one person straddling another and throwing punches down at the person on the ground. John Good said he was watching TV with his wife when they heard a noise and he went out to investigate, despite his wife warning him not to. At first, he thought a dog might be attacking someone, but as he moved closer, he said he observed what looked like "a tussle" between two people....

What say you, creepy-ass crackas? Will the media give this broad a pass? Is it racism?

LilMissAmerican @LilMissRightie "That's real retarded, sir. That's real retarted sir". No. She. Didn't. Did I actually hear that? She's a soft-talker - maybe I heard wrong.

If you are interested in the George Zimmerman trial, in which testimony is now under way, the place to go is Legal Insurrection, where Andrew Branca, a Massachusetts lawyer who authored The Law of Self Defense, is posting a thorough, witness-by-witness commentary on the evidence, with videos of the actual courtroom scene. Branca thinks today’s testimony was “an utter debacle for the prosecution.†In Branca’s view, the witnesses called by the state did far more to bolster Zimmerman’s defense than to advance the prosecution. The portrait they painted of Zimmerman was positive, and in a dramatic moment that Branca describes...

Today, June 26th, is DAY #13 (of 3rd week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. An explosive second day of deconstructed witness testimony took place yesterday. Which leads to the “big question”: Will witness #8, Rachel Jeantel, be called to the stand today? [Yesterday could] … only be characterized as an utter debacle for the prosecution in Florida v. Zimmerman. Besides the testimony of a couple of highly professional law enforcement witnesses, the testimony of the the other State witnesses ranged from signing George Zimmerman’s praises, to acknowledging the utility of following a suspicious person from a distance, to...

In opening statements Monday, defense attorneys portrayed murder suspect George Zimmerman as a citizen looking out for his neighborhood when he was confronted and attacked by Trayvon Martin, a stark contrast to prosecutors' picture of a vigilante who profiled the Forida teen.

Today, June 25th, is DAY #12 (of 3rd week) State of Florida V. George Zimmerman case. An explosive first day of opening statements and witnesses took place yesterday. [yesterday] saw the completion of opening statements and the launch of the State’s case, with four of the State’s witnesses being brought to the stand. In a nutshell, I thought the defense did a far superior job in cross-examination than the State did on direct, with it’s own witnesses, which does not bode well for the State’s prospects in this case. Here’s the play-by-play – CLICK HERE

With an all-female jury seated (five white, one Hispanic) and opening arguments occurring today, understand that not only should the charge against George Zimmerman never have been filed, but that the case is remarkably backwards. The shooting of Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012, in Sanford, Florida, was an unremarkable event — similar self-defense related shootings occur regularly. In virtually all of those cases, the local police do their work, local prosecutors review it, charges are filed or declined, and only local communities are aware of or care about it. Whereas the Trayvon Martin case is an anomaly that...

“In a major blow for the prosecution in the George Zimmerman case, a judge on Saturday barred the testimony of two audio experts who suggested that a taped 911 call indicated Trayvon Martin was crying out for help during the violent struggle that ended with a gunshot,”
