Investigating one of the nation's most prominent unsolved murders, a Hollywood detective pitched softball questions and fed homemade muffins to a serial killer. He asked: Did you kidnap freckled 6-year-old Adam Walsh from a Sears in 1981? "Nothing to do with it,'' Jeffrey Dahmer answered, taking another muffin. The word of Dahmer, a sociopath who stashed severed heads in his refrigerator, was instrumental in Hollywood police deciding he was not Adam's killer despite contradictory statements from two witnesses.

John Walsh just made an appearance on "Live With Regis and Kelly". Kelly Ripa is a big BO fan, and so is her guest host Anderson Cooper. John Walsh, commemorating his 1000th "America's Most Wanted" show, was guest #1. Immediately the conversation turned to Barack Obama. Barack will be on the show with John Walsh. John praised Obama and said, "He has got a piece of legislation passed called the 'Recovery Act' that has put $4 billion out for law enforcement..." or something like that. I shouted at the TV: "It is the PORK BILL, JOHN! AND IT IS A...

4 Big Mortgage Backers Swim in Ocean of Debt MARY WILLIAMS WALSH December 16, 2009 Even as the biggest banks repay their government debt in what is being heralded as a successful rescue program, four troubled giants of the financial world remain on government life support. These companies, the American International Group, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and GMAC, are not only unable to repay the government, they are in need of continuing infusions that make them look increasingly like long-term wards of the state. And the total risk they pose to the taxpayer far exceeds that of the big banks....

The LORD will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. (Deuteronomy 28: 7)

First, credit where it's due: A few lonely Republican leaders are belatedly trying to clean up the party's mess of crazy, from the racially tinged character attacks on Sonia Sotomayor to the unhinged rhetoric of the Birthers to the overall vicious and fact-free spew of Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck. It's not working yet -- Beck's claiming Obama "has a deep-seated hatred for white people" on Tuesday might be a new low -- but at least someone's trying. Sen. Lindsey Graham tried to kick off a new GOP flirtation with decency when he announced his vote to confirm Sotomayor last...

An Iowa congressman says an Army general was not out of line when he addressed Senator Barbara Boxer (D-California) as "ma'am" during a recent Senate hearing. Brigadier General Michael Walsh, of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, was testifying last week before Boxer's Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works about the progress of the Louisiana restoration process in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. Boxer: "Well, why has it been delayed? Walsh: "Ma'am, at the L-A-C-P-R is..." Boxer: "You know, do me a favor. Could say 'Senator' instead of 'ma'am?'" Walsh: "Yes." Boxer: "It's just a thing; I worked so...

Aside from a briefly worded statement about a "friendly" conversation she had with an Army brigadier general after dressed him down a day earlier for calling her "ma'am," Sen. Barbara Boxer remained silent Friday in the face of growing criticism as to whether she owed an apology.

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to a General at a hearing yesterday: "Do me a favor," she said. "Could say senator instead of Ma'am It's just a thing, I worked so hard to get that title, so I'd appreciate it, thank you."

Senator Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.,demanded Brigadier General Michael Walsh to call her "Senator" instead of "ma'am". Senator James Inhofe, R-Ok, on the other hand, was addressed as "sir" by General Peter Pace on January 16, 2007. Unlike Ms. Boxer, Mr. Inhofe did not lecture the General over the issue of calling him "sir".

Ladies and Gentlemen! It is my pleasure to bring to you the spectacle of two battlers from Brooklyn. Introducing first: wearing the Army Dress Green uniform trimmed with a Silver Star on each epaulet, two Bronze Star medals, four Legions of Merit, a Ranger Tab, Parachutist Wings, and a combat patch, standing six feet, four inches tall and weighing in at two hundred pounds. Born in Brooklyn, he graduated from the Polytechnic Institute of New York with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, earned a Master's Degree in Construction Management from the University of Florida. Sen. Barbara Boxer of California instructs Brigadier General Michael Walsh not to call her "ma'am," the sign of respect shown by members of the military towards non-military ... she wants to be called "Senator," because gosh darn it, she worked hard for that position. No further comment necessary, but I'm looking forward to them anyway. Words fail.

Seeking to quell the “tsunami” of outrage over her plum post, state Sen. Marian Walsh (D-West Roxbury) said today she won’t take a $120,000-a-year position that had been vacant for 12 years. “I feel I have become the issue,” an emotional Walsh said in a hastily called press conference outside Gov. Deval Patrick’s office. “This is my decision. I think it’s best and I still think I can be helpful.” Patrick, while calling Walsh highly capable, said he wished he handled the appointment differently, adding he is relieved by her decision.

Governor Deval Patrick has awarded one of his earliest political supporters, State Senator Marian Walsh, a $175,000 job as an assistant director at a state bonding authority, despite declaring in the past that he would not honor patronage appointment requests from lawmakers.

I agree with many of the comments and concerns of the bloggers on both sides of the aisle regarding this Larry Walsh issue. But this is happening everywhere. The newspaper selects the questions they want to ask, politicians claim “no comment” or “I don’t know much about this or that but an investigation is underway”, running politicians start slinging mud because they cant hack it in the real world and need to take on ego trip. And when they get elected its business as usual just with different faces. Now, everyone one of the bloggers here have great ambitions, passions...

Campaign Cash Flows to Pelosi’s Republican Opponent Despite Difficult OddsRunning against Speaker Nancy Pelosi in her home district in San Francisco is as close to a political suicide mission as a Republican can undertake — but unlike her underfunded predecessors, GOP nominee Dana Walsh won’t lack for money.Walsh, an interior designer and member of the San Francisco GOP central committee, had raised $363,871 as of June 30, according to CQ MoneyLine. Her campaign had $45,168 on hand, with the report showing that most of the money raised went toward the cost of setting up a national direct-mail fundraising operation.Her...

SYRACUSE, NY-David Gay says he's the unconventional congressional candidate who stands for conventional Republican ideals. The 27-year-old, who was the Syracuse coordinator for Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign, has never run for public office. He and his wife, Yusimy Gay-Martinez, who fled Cuba in 1999, live in a poor neighborhood on Syracuse's North Side with their 17-month-old son. Since graduating nine years ago from Nottingham High School, Gay has scraped by doing a variety of jobs, including work on the Syracuse Chiefs grounds crew, as a baseball scout in Latin America, as a Spanish translator and as a data entry...

A formal announcement was scheduled later Thursday in Syracuse, N.Y. Walsh, serving his 10th term, nearly lost his last election in 2006 to a former House Ways and Means Committee aide, Democrat Dan Maffei. Walsh's stance on the Iraq war has been an issue in his District. Maffei is running again this year. Walsh's retirement is the latest in a spate of Republican retirements this year. Walsh sits on the influential Appropriations Committee.
