Around 600,000 years ago, humanity split in two. One group stayed in Africa, evolving into us. The other struck out overland, into Asia, then Europe, becoming Homo neanderthalensis - the Neanderthals. They weren't our ancestors, but a sister species, evolving in parallel.

Thanks Red Badger. This suffers from a false premise. Neandertals were human, and continue to be.

Their huge eyes likely gave Neanderthals superior low-light vision, letting them manoeuvre in the dark for ambushes and dawn raids.

That sounds an awful lot like a ridiculous Australian comic book that once in a while gets advocated as if factual by the notorious Ted Holden, who has been banned from FR under a bunch of different nicknames. Under at least two nicknames, Ted has cited some trash tabloid's claim that Neandertal was halfway between modern humans and chimps. That's moronic.

It is just a fact that Neandertal DNA is found in most people of European ancestry, and more and more among people in Asia, when they get their DNA tested. The average percentage of Neandertal DNA found in living humans is about the same as that of each of your 4th-great-grandparents. As more Neandertal DNA is sequenced (not that much has been done) the known percentage is likely to increase.

There's literally zero evidence shown of the extravagant claim in the title. Split skull, literally one, and no trail of evidence pointing to the killer -- f any, maybe a rock fell on his head, maybe he fell out of a tree.

As I've stated above, most carry the DNA of Neandertal individuals who lived long ago, and as we don't carry on half the possible parental DNA with each generation, the survival from just a few known Neandertal individuals mitigates in favor of the idea that they form a large part of the base of our ancestry.

It's a British problem -- Darwin said it, they believe it, that settles it. Chimp? Closest relative of us gracile moderns. Geographic origin of gracile moderns? Africa. Ironically, Virchow, who was not British and was opposed to Darwinism, spent the later years of his life attacking the Neandertal finds. His attacks devolved into the final gloriously stupid claim that the Neanderal fossil skeletal remains were those of an 18th century Cossack fugitive, who had rickets, and died naked, cowering in that cave.

I saw a documentary where they had all the kids in a large college class get tested to see how much Neanderthal DNA each had.

The fascinating result (that they did not comment on overtly): *all* of the really hot blond women had the largest percentages. And the guys who were high in it were the ones that looked like women would probably think them handsome.

Greg Gutfeld made an excellent point about politics for conservatives vs liberals. For liberals, their life is a skyscraper and politics is the foundation; if politics go bad for them, their life collapses and implodes. For conservatives/normal people, their life is a shopping mall; if the politics store goes out of business, well....they go to one of the other stores like God, family, friends, hobbies, and/or work.

Ayn Rand had a phrase: the sanction of the victim. She basically said many people cave in, and therefore give up without a fight. I believe many of us have no intention of giving legitimacy to our own disenfranchisement.

That said, let me state - with no subordination to the importance of this fiasco before us, and with a full understanding of the interconnections of visible and invisible downfield ramifications - I have zero intention of looking like the idiots from 4 years ago that screamed at the sky after Hillary lost.

Yea, she lost fair and square and that's not happening here. But weeping and gnashing of teeth is unbecoming, and while MacArthur announced that he and his family intended to "share the fate of the garrison" on Corregidor, he ultimately left.

It may be time to re-focus on mall storefronts such as that "owned" by SunkenCiv. Indeed, it will be necessary to have clarity of mind to address things if they don't work out as they should over the next few weeks; reading about catastrophic things, glyphs, and generally anything other than this madness could be the elixir needed over the next four years.
