Idaho was great! It is so beautiful there the scenery looks like a painting.
The people were great. The only people who were rude were from California, Oregon, Washington and Canada. Idaho residents were uncommonly courteous and friendly.
My daughter and I were by ourselves but we felt very safe everywhere we went and slept well for being away from home. We actually felt safer in a strange place than we did at home. Never heard one siren in a whole week.
We were mostly passing through small towns that had an openly God oriented atmosphere. Lots of pro life advertising on billboards. Lots of churches even in small towns. When we got back to California we immediately noticed how many abortion billboards(Planned Parenthood)there were.
The difference between Idaho and California was truly stunning. We are surrounded by evil here. It is almost palpable, even in the small or rural towns.
In Idaho there are free bibles available everywhere.
In California, they are trying to make Christianity illegal. California really is a Godless hellhole.
And there was a question in there?
Whats the point of this thread?
I live 15 minutes from north Idaho in Washington. The price difference for alcohol is stunning.
I was paid to do a survey in the Gulf Islands National Seashore. It was mostly in South Mississippi. This was in the Winter of 1988.
I would guess that maybe 98% of the campers were Canadian. Every single one I interviewed were really fine people. I would say among the best people I have every met. I think every single man I met was a WWII Vet. Carried on long conversations with most of them and they were all conservative.
It did make me wonder where all the liberals who control Canada are located?
Love Idaho.
McCall< Idaho is the bestest place....
Lakes, rivers, streams. If you can’t catch fish here, you are probably just stupid and should get out of the state...
People are awesome and helpful.
Which way?
In California, they are trying to make Christianity illegal. California really is a Godless hellhole.
California is a big state - before you paint the citizens of the state with such a broad brush, you may want to visit out side the large metropolitan centers.
Oh by the way - Check out the Free Republic donation list - Californians provide the largest donation to Free Republic.
In a couple of tourist areas there were strangers who took pictures of us. They were not from Idaho.
In one location, a man who was with his wife and daughter took a picture of my daughter and stayed right behind her for a while. This really skeeved me out. I wanted to scream “Get away from her!”.
Since he was there with his wife and daughter why did he take a picture of my daughter and follow her so closely for a while?
His wife was on the other side of the group and they seemed to be working to flank us continuously. It was very creepy and made me think of people working together to kidnap or rob other people.
The thing is... they looked like just run of the mill average people.
Another day we were in an isolated area and a group of people in two different cars(traveling together)took our picture. Again, sort of circling us on the way out.
Very unnerving.
Lotsa Mormons in Ida.
Dont group all of us Washingtonians into one category. Had I met you on your travels I would have offered to be a local tour guide (you would have had to pack the picnic though), and shown sights in the columbia river gorge locals only know about. A day trip to Mt. St. Helen’s, waterfalls, and old growth forests. The problem is, you encountered the wrong Washingtonian on your trip. I give you an open invitation, If you are ever in the area, I would be happy to play tour guide for ya.
If you look like a unicorn, peeps are likely to record the event.
We’re gonna need some pics for evaluation...
No, not painting all California citizens that way.
I AM a California citizen.
I do understand there are many decent people here.
But even in rural areas, things in our state are changing for the worse-which is not necessarily due to the average citizens but more to the crazy half of the population and government officials.
Your personal safety is constantly in question in California. The concentration of human population, the systemic abolition of your right to defend yourself and your personal observations are screaming this to you.
Can you hear it?
What is the safety question? The only one I’d read into your post, and spent 11 of my young years in Idaho, is the the general despise of people from California. If you traveled with California plates...

Again, not grouping everyone together like that.
Just something my daughter and I noticed that any weirdness we encountered was usually someone from out of state.
Yes, all the time.
Consult with VDH.
I live in a very rural mountainous area of California. Looks like Idaho here. No crazy homeless people and very low crime.
