Sakinah Aaron was walking into the bus area at the Wheaton Metro station several weeks ago, talking loudly on her Motorola cell phone. A little too loudly for Officer George Saoutis of the Metro Transit Police.
The police officer told Aaron, who is five months pregnant, to lower her voice. She told the officer he had no right to tell her how to speak into her cell phone.
Their verbal dispute quickly escalated, and Saoutis grabbed Aaron by the arm and pushed her to the ground. He handcuffed the 23-year-old woman, called for backup and took her to a cell where she was held for three hours before being released to her aunt. She was charged with two misdemeanors: "disorderly manner that disturbed the public peace" and resisting arrest.

When he pushed her to the ground, did he say "Can you hear me now?"
Why do I envision a new episode of "When Keeping It Real Goes Wrong" on the Dave Chappelle show...?
Exactly. When a cop asks you to do something, you do it. The consequences of non-compliance can be a bitch.
Why the police try to defend actions like these rather than saying we have bad days and make mistakes too and we are sorry Ms. Aaron is beyond me? John Edwards I guess?
"Motorola cell phone" - this is the key...
That's for sure. She'd be pushing up daisies right now.
Boy she'll make a fine mom for some kid and a wife too....
Highly doubtful that she's married....
Another constitutional scholar. Future Supreme Court Justice?
LOLOL Ping to "our guys' ;) PO PO
Yes since she was released to her aunt. Maybe it was pregnancy hormones *lol*
Yeah, she got arrested for PO a PO. Bad judgment on her part. Worse judgment, in my opinion, on the part of the cop. I smell a nice lawsuit in the making. No jury in the world is going to side against a pregnant woman who claims police brutality in this situation.
I have a hard time understanding why being a woman or pregnant has to do with it. If a person is invading public space with obscenities...that's all I need to know. Book her!
The cop should have been more sensitive to the woman's culture. I think he ought to attend a "Loud-Mouthed Bitch" sensitivity training course.
she should of just piped down and went home to talk as loud as she wanted.but no... she had to bitch the metro cop out. i'm glad they arrested her
Another example of a person "raised in a barn". Respect for other people is a foreign thought for some, never been taught it and never would think about it.
Heck, I've got a LG10 that I have to yell into just to have the person on the other end hear me. Lucky I haven't died of lead poisoning yet....
The part about her being pregnant is just a ploy to try and gain sympathy for her. It's an attempt to paint her as being harrassed by "the man," who is just out to get her. Nevermind the fact that being pregnant does not make it allowable for a woman to be a loudmouth.
