Tancredo considers White House bid

Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., fresh from victory in three online presidential straw polls over formidibale candidates, told Joseph Farah's radio audience today he would run for president in 2008 if no other Republican candidate takes the border issue seriously.
"I'll tell you what," he said, "if no one else does, I will do it."
Tancredo is the head of the House Immigration Reform Caucus and has challenged his own party's president on the issue of insecure border and his proposed "guest worker" proposal.
Tancredo said he was encouraged by President Bush's recent meeting with Mexican President Vicente Fox because the U.S. leader told his counterpart he would continue to push for more lenient immigration policies but would not guarantee they would be approved by Congress.
The Colorado congressman said he believes Bush was signaling defeat and giving permission to GOP dissenters to vote their conscience on the issue.

Cool. He's got my vote. Maybe he'll run on the Constitution Party ticket.

He has a lifetime 98% rating from the American Conservative Union.
I couldn't tell you his stance on every issue off the top of my head, I think he may have had some issues with the NRA after Columbine.

"U.S. leader told his counterpart he would continue to push for more lenient immigration policies." I hope Tom doesn't cave in to Bush's guest-workers travesty.
And I hope he runs and puts an end to the 3rd world illegal and legal aliens invasion of our Christian country.

Heh heh...Vicente Fox's worst nightmare.
If Tancredo got elected, I'd start buying stock in companies that make concertina wire.

Who's Pat Buchanan? Both Tancredo and Buchanan are very popular with the white supremacists.
Sometimes being anti-immigration brings out the worst nutcases. If Tancredo doesn't disavow
these racists, he will be labeled the next David Duke by the MSM.
I'm not saying that Tancredo is racist. I'm stating he has quite the following among them.
This is particularly troubling given the efforts of some of these groups to infiltrate FreeRepublic.
Tancredo can make a cogent argument on immigration restrictions. However, this will be impossible if
Aryan brotherhood/neo-nazi groups become his strongest cheerleaders.

He was diehard pro before Columbine, caved bigtime afterward with the gun show ban, then voted right on ending gun lawsuits later.
Columbine is his district, BTW.

How about a Tancredo/Gingrich ticket. That would put the leftists into meltdown.

Jeb Bush is still my favorite candidate for '08. I will consider Tancredo's positions against his and decide.
I like Tancredo on immigration but I am concerned about his electability--not because he's a conservative, but because he's a congressman. He needs to be a successful governor before he becomes a candidate.

What a surprise...Tancredo wasn't here in New Hampshire a few weeks ago just because he likes 'mud season'...

Screw the MSM and those Klucksters at the NAACP. They'll demonize whoever is the nominee. Bush was this evil racist because he didn't push for a special Hate Crime bill after James Byrd was dragged to death.

don't know very much more about him than his stance on the borders and that almost alone could make me vote for him if he had other strong points as well......

Tancredo gets a
"B" grade from GOA .....not too bad, considering their (relatively) tough grading standards.

No good, although I like Gingrich very much. Not good because Newt advocated the annexation of Puerto Rico as our 51st state.
