I guess you could say that Ann loves to shock us, but at this point, who’s shocked? She obviously can’t behave well enough to attend a respectable political gathering. It’s not a lack of intelligence. It’s an indifference to self-control and a preening sort of narcissism that compels her to need the spotlight, even if it’s unflattering.
(For those of you who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s audio of her calling John Edwards a “faggot” at CPAC today.)

Ann Coulter just finished her riff on Al Gore, tossed out some cute jokes ("You can understand why Hollywood is concerned about global warming. You know what heat does to plastic."), and ended with a cheap one-liner about John Edwards being a "faggot." (Paraphrasing) She said she would refrain from commenting on Edwards because "if you say faggot, you have to go to rehab."
A smattering of laughter.
Not from this corner.
Crickets chirping.

Ann Coulter is speaking at CPAC as I write. As is typical, she gave a brief speech full of her usual witticisms, including a few brilliant attacks on Al Gore’s green hypocrisy. All was good. Untill the last few seconds, when she launched into a joke about John Edwards.
Here’s what she said.
“I’d say something about John Edwards, but if you say ‘faggot’ you have to go to rehab.”
I’m no fan of John Edwards, but that’s just a stupid joke. It’s over the line. The laughter it generated across the room was more than a little annoying.
Last year it was “raghead.” This year it’s calling John Edwards a “faggot.” Two years in a row, Coulter has finished up an otherwise sharp CPAC routine with an obnoxious slur that liberals will fling at conservatives for years to come.

My comments... what should have been a day to celebrate a Reaganesque speech by Duncan Hunter, and good speeches by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee was overshadowed by an unhinged comment by Ann Coulter. She is an absolute idiot for saying something like this at CPAC.

The Roman Catholic Church defines the practice of homosexuality as "intrinsically disordered behavior" which is always sinful. Other Bible-believing Churches are at least as firm in their opposition to homosexual practice. Constant nannynagging by perpetually offended homosexuals and their PC apologists will not make them normal, will not make their practices other than intrinsically disordered.
Now, if you are concerned that homosexuals may be offended by being compared to an antiAmerican socialist moneygrubber like the Breck Girl, that might warrant a different response but I don't think that was the nature of your complaint.

Right On! Besides I thought it was a free speech issue anyway. Ann was just exercising free speech. People have the same right to complain. The democrats aren't clean on this issue of name calling anyway. Hillary has let it rip and so has Howie Dean.

Ann's is one of the few brave voices still speaking in opposition to that power grab. She did so here. And it put you and people like you into a panic. Sad.
I wouldn't use the word faggot to describe anybody. It's too crude by half. But it isn't illegal and shouldn't be illegal to use it. And it definitely isn't my intention to allow the left to force its worldview straitjacket on me in the way it apparently has you.
I am not surprised, by the way, that a lot of Giuliani groupies are taking up cudgels to beat Ann for this utterance. And yet they assure us we need not be concerned for our First Amendment freedoms if ex-prosecutor Rudy is elected chief law enforcement officer of this nation.

Again, Coulter is not a public official. She has the freedom to speak just like Alec Baldwin had when he called for the public stoning of Rep. Henry Hyde. I'm sure that Democratic leaders back then denounced Baldwin's remarks.
Conservatives need to fight back and hard at the left. As another poster pointed out, this is why we have been losing ground.
If you ever find a way to get a dedicated marxist to "get a grip", please share it with us...
