Donald Trump Suits And Ties Are Made in China
CNN ^ | March 8, 2016 | Heather Long

Donald Trump Suits And Ties Are Made in China by Heather Long March 8, 2016 Donald Trump blasts companies like Ford and Apple for manufacturing products outside the United States. He even threatened to stop eating Oreo cookies after he learned some production was moving to Mexico. But Trump does the same thing.

Many of his products are made outside the United States. Most Donald J. Trump ties are made in China. Some Donald J. Trump suits are also made in China.

Donald J. Trump signature men's dress shirts are made in China, Bangladesh or "imported," meaning they were made abroad.

And it's not just Donald's products. Harvard professor and trade expert Robert Lawrence analyzed over 800 items in the Ivanka Trump fashion line. There are shoes, dresses, purses and scarves. All are "imported."

The top five countries that America imports clothing from are China (by far the leader), India, Vietnam, Pakistan and Mexico. Related: Trump tower's Chinese investors buy a path to U.S. citizenship

"In a recent debate Marco Rubio mentioned ties. But the ties made in China are just the tip of the iceberg," says Lawrence, who served on President Bill Clinton's Council of Economic Advisers.

Lawrence found that none of Ivanka Trump's clothing line appears to be made exclusively in the United States and 354 items are listed as made in China. Trump doesn't dispute this.

"I talk about my ties in speeches. I'm open. I say my ties many times are made in China," Trump told CNN's Jake Tapper in July.

"It's very hard to have apparel made in this country," Trump said.

Trump OFTEN talk about how he buy stuff overseas because its in his business self interest to do so because its so uncompetitive to buy it here. HE WANT TO CHANGE THIS to make it competitive here in the USA

I see NOTHING wrong with this. Identify the problem and wanting to fix it

Where is your clothing made?

Yes, Steelfish, do you examine labels for clothing, furniture, food, electronics and personal care items and make sure you only buy American so that you cannot be thought a hypocrite on this issue?

One of my family members wanted an American-made sweatshirt with hood for a gift. It cost three to four times as much as the ones available in typical middle-class stores that I can afford. Same with any clothing I might like to have for mayself. Virtually every middle and upper-middle label is made abroad.

I agree with Trump, our trade deals are terrible; we should be able to afford to manufacture here in America again, but we won't be able to unless some tough negotiations are done to re-secure our own marketplaces.

So I'm voting for Trump, because he recognized the need for better trade deals, educated the People about the need, and knows how to negotiate better trade deals.

The Nazi Salute"""... you saw it the same way as I did.

You do know he has read the speeches of Hitler, his first wife stated he kept that book in his nightstand, and when asked about it by someone he said "Who told you".

As a Cruz supporter I tell you this, if I was a one of his rallies and he told us to raise our hands and take a PLEDGE.......I WOULD HAVE RAN OUT OF THAT RALLY AS FAST AS I COULD in disgust, and burn everything I had with a Cruz name on it. I take a pledge to no man, and I will support no man or woman who asked me to.

Nearly every manufacturer in the US has to move operations overseas because they can't compete otherwise. Labor costs are too high, and foreign governments give subsidies that lower unit costs to the point that US manufacturers can't compete with pricing. Then, a US manufacturing can't sell their product because it costs more than a competing item from abroad. So everyone has to manufacture overseas, just as all drywallers in SoCal have to use Mexicans otherwise they won't win their bids.

What Trump has said he will do is increase the cost of importing, and make trade more fair in the case of subsidies so that the pricing of an American manufacturer is competitive with a foreign manufacturer. As Trump pointed out, one of his friends would love to buy John Deere but the cost of the Japanese version is just too much less expensive, and he has to run his business to make a profit. His shareholders insist on it. So he buys the Japanese earth mover.

Do you understand yet? If not, I don't think the problem is the explanation.

Vote Trump or Hillary will win?

I think Hillary will win regardless of who is nominated.

The vast majority in this nation hate Republicans. Trump has a 65% unfavorable rating. Hillary may be at 53% unfavorable but people will still vote for her because she is a Democrat. Trump has a double problem of being unlikeable and a Republican.

The attitudes of the country are left now. A majority support homosexual marriage, abortion on demand and frèe college. They are also caught in the celebrity culture and go they way of their favorite personality. A majority of people believe minorities are treated unfairly by whites. Self loathing among whites is at an all time high, many search their ancestry in hopes of finding a black or latino relative. Many whites speak the street language of minorities to appear cool and unwhite.

The mood and demographics are so stacked against the Republicans it’s impossible for them to win

About 2%, that is a phenomenally successful record. You have just been manipulated by the establishment you think you are against.

It’s not a diversion to say that your candidate just bought into the new world order, and under that new world order, nothing will ever be made in the US except coffins for American citizens. The guy I am supporting is pro-American and wants to bring back the manufacturing that currently can’t happen here because of our existing stupid trade policies.

Tell me what he said here:

But he claimed that it is “impossible for clothing makers in this country to do clothing in this country.”

Not sure, but I think he means cheap labor.....he likes

They are in the "Big Circle of Excuses room" now, scrambling round and round and round to stay on topic with just one excuse that will stick, going to get to the Yeah Buts real soon now.

Yeah But, what about Nixon.......lol

He has to sell the products in the US, right? Have you checked to see what the unit costs would be if he sourced all the materials and made the suits in the US, and have you compared the pricing with the type of suits and ties that his competitors would be offering?

I didn't think so.

You should think before hitting buttons on a keyboard.

Can you believe what you are reading trying to defend "the one" who will make America the same again with all the nonsensical excuses they now give to cover "the one"

It was always, he is going to bring back the jobs......Yeah But now it's different and we don't care.

Inside that Circle of Excuse room here is what is going on: Where's that excuse, it was right here a minute ago, who took the one I need now, just tell em we don't give a darn, that will shut em up, scream louder?

The government can’t make us competitive, except by getting out of the way. Number one, they need to privatize all schools and stop government-backed loans for college education. The only thing that could be hurting our innovation and productivity is our terrible socialized education system.

Putting up tariffs is a lot like affirmative action. Giving whites a relative penalty for getting into college is admitting that blacks can’t perform, instead of working to improve their performance. A tariff is admitting the U.S. can’t perform instead of working to improve the quality of their performance.

I guess the same thing does not apply when Ford and Nabisco want to move production to Mexico which Trump is against.

Hypocritical on Trump's behalf?

Yes, definitely.

Trump has to fix the problem before he can complain about Ford and Nabisco. If they would just wait a year, maybe he will.

I understand now why Trump says he loves “the least educated,” and they will take a hail of bullets for him in the middle of Fifth Avenue. Such is the stuff that Trumpkins are made of in spite his low estimation of them.
