The Wall Street Journal recently posted that Mitt Romney is emerging as the leading candidate to be Secretary of State in the Trump administration.
Obviously we all know Romney is the poster child for GOPe, and that for whatever reason he threw his debates against Obama in 2012.
Personally, I would like to see him lead a task force to eliminate vast numbers of Federal regulations, but it is not up to me.
In this thread I am concerned with Foreign Policy and nothing else.
Where can we expect Romney to differ from what we expect from President Trump on the Foreign Policy front? Is there anything to be concerned about?
RINOmney is a snake, who worked against the Republican nominee.
***********
When the fate of the country was on the line, Romney not only refused to support the legitimate Republican nominee, he withheld vital support when it was needed the most.
Romney failed to defeat Obama and wouldn’t defend Trump. We don’t want people around like that.
Why are we posting fake news? We have to have someone as good or better than Romney, who didn’t trash Trump.
“...think you are right. I certainly hope so! Trump is no fool.”
No he is not a fool....but he is also not an idealist, he’s a pramatist and many pragmatist’s throughout history have disappointed their followers.
I couldn’t agree more.
One more reason to detest Rand Paul.
He may be a pragmatist, but he’s also a patriot.
I believe I may understand Trump’s motivation if he appoints Romney.
Trump is a businessman who knows how to make deals.
Romney is a businessman (or was a businessman) famed for solving
business problems, i.e. the Olympics.
Trump may trust someone with a business background to be a better
negotiator than the normal politician.
Interesting perspective.
I wouldn’t turn my back on him.
Here is my concern: VP.Pence, S0H.Ryan, and SOS.Romney. The lines of secession are all GOPe.
“eliminate vast numbers of Federal regulations”
That’s the job of our Republican Congress.
We need fewer laws and regulations. We must remove needless obstacles to employment and economic activity.
To produce working drafts, I think we need to go back in general to the Eisenhower era laws and regulations as a basis for further work.
The Eisenhower era had the United States as modern nation and also the world’s leading economic power.
Those regulations and laws should be sensibly updated (current tax rates, SNAP cards[not food stamps]) and merged into fundamentally sound working drafts for proposed laws, which should have been done decades ago.
We also need to add in mainly Nixon-era consumer protection, environmental protection, worker safety and product safety laws. These should have maximum budgets of 1,000 8x11 12-point text pages each.
All this work should be done by Congressional aides with at least five years experience at drafting bills.
Reform needs to come from Congress.
We need people who know how to run governments and businesses to run executive branch agencies.

As much as I loathe Romney, it actually shows that he’s above making decisions based on personal feelings. No way he can have warm feelings about Mitt.
I’m thinking his reasoning is that he has the largest Republican coalition ever, and he has to make sure it all comes together as much as possible for him to get his agenda rather than fighting with Rinos in congress.
I agree. But someone has to go through the Federal Register page by page and eviscerate it.
Justice Thomas has rightfully pointed out the unconstitutionality of administrative law that takes the place of congressional legislation. Legislators have to reassert themselves, but the regulations themselves have to be withdrawn as well.
I think you’re right and I sure hope so.
Mr. Trump has a commanding respect he should not
throw away pushing a grubering backstabbing RAT.
He has already taken Priebus.
Let Romney make nice.
Let Congress slice.
Big mistake...just another unAmerican POS politician.
You posted a vanity as news.
You deserve a double ration of crap just for that.
