I thought they had already done that.
I’m in no way in favor of the dumbing-down, participation-trophy approach. But I do understand why schools might want to ditch the concept of a “valedictory address,” as every year it seems that there are a flurry reports of these TikTok-generation brats using the speech to regale a captive audience of graduates and their families with a totally inappropriate speech focused on their LGBT-ism, “abortion rights,” Trump bashing etc.
Don’t count on that

They already did. I was teaching college courses and mentoring and thought the Freshmen class would be a great start for them if I could help steer them right. Forget it. They know so little, even the ones that claimed to have high SAT scores or claim to have went to a “Charter school”.
Graduation is replaced with twerking contests to see who is the better porn star and stripper.
Alot of that started YEARS ago when giving IQ tests to students was outlawed. Also aptitude tests. Those would show the kinds of things a student as good at & was actually INTERESTED in.
I can remember being given tests when I applied for accounting jobs. One test person was amazed that I could remember 9 sequential numbers in a row without error. I remember saying: “You mean that is something special?”
I can still remember phone numbers without looking them up. I do NOT use a cell phone & I believe that USING MY MEMORY keeps me more alert, etc.
Then-—more laws say that a landlord CAN NOT know the criminal history of a prospective tenant....so IF a Sex Offender gets residence in YOUR 8 unit apartment-—WHO get sued when all hello breaks loose???
These people stick around for that year or 2 when they can graduate early.

That wasn’t allowed at my high school. My class learned on graduation day that a junior girl would be graduating with us. She just happened to be the daughter of the president of the board of education.
Do away with computer reviews, Restaurant reviews, and Consumer Reports.
Abolish competition - reward incompetence... be stupid.
And I recall when the Army did away with the ‘Distinguish Honor Graduate’ spot in leadership schools. Probably for the same reason others opined here...not enough non-white males pulling the glory.
Absolutely typical dummocrap maneuver: when the minorities can’t make the grade, eliminate any rules or standards. Bingo, problem solved. The fact that this fosters mediocrity doesn’t bother them a bit. Makes the animals on the farm more tractable, easier to feed ‘em the dummocrap lies and not have them questioned.
Some people just want to see the world burn.
What an inspiring graduation speech: “There are no winners here, only losers enjoying the equity of ignorance.”

The valedictorian makes everyone else the unwashed. Let’s them know they’re not as good. A whole life ahead of them and they’re put down right in the beginning.
Analogy-The NFL/NBA/MLB then expands the playoff system to make others feel they all have a chance while filling the coffers of the owners. We’re all being played. The owners/school boards call the shots. We don’t have to play.
I spent some time when Obama was in office writing down a plan to completely rearrange the USA educational system.
When I explained it in short version to a neighbor with kids—grandkids—great-grandkids-—she was very quiet. Then she asked a few questions.
When she realized what I was saying-—she totally agreed-—but it is a COMPLETE change from top to bottom.
A few points: NO MORE TENURE of any kind——NOT even the POPE has tenure
NO MORE UNIONS in the educational system of any kind—not even janitors.
A complete synopsis of the curriculum for each grade in school is HANDED to the parents of the kids-—NOT mailed.
Parents have a right to know what is being shoved down the throat of our kids-—after all—their taxes PAY FOR THE SCHOOLS & TEACHERS.
NO kid is advanced to next grade without ability to pass tests for current grade...NO EXCEPTIONS. Tutors if necessary. We are ‘graduating from High school’ students who can NOT read or write. They are UNEMPLOYABLE.
