A Milwaukee woman claims she was defending her children when she fatally shot an intruder who entered her home. The mother of two, who asked to remain anonymous, said she was showering before work Monday morning when she heard her 12- and 14-year-old screaming from the living room, news station TMJ4 reported. She immediately ran to her room, grabbed her gun, and confronted the intruder, who was undeterred by the family’s two pit bulls. She then shot him multiple times.

Instead of waiting for the police, a law-abiding citizen with a concealed carry license (also known as a 'good guy with a gun') took matters into his own hands and acted quickly, drawing his weapon and killing a gunman who was about to "shoot up the crowd" at a party in West Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday night.Local news CBS12 said a fight broke out between 20 people at a family gathering on Division Avenue and 4th Street in West Palm Beach. At that moment, a 22-year-old male retrieved a short-barreled shotgun from his car and threatened to "shoot up...

Charleston, W.Va. — Police say a woman's actions may have prevented a mass casualty event following an altercation about a man speeding through a neighborhood. "She did the right thing. I don't know if any other person would have done that," said Lt. Tony Hazelett with the Charleston Police Department. Charleston police said it all started when 37-year-old Dennis Butler was speeding up and down a parking lot inside the Vista View apartments. He was approached by people attending a graduation party and a birthday party, who asked him to slow down, as children were playing. Witnesses said Butler seemed...

Road rages can often turn out to be quite dangerous especially for elderlies. Senior citizens are at a huge risk of getting their cars stolen by young thieves who can easily overpower the elderly or by younger people who can try and attack them. However, not all senior citizens are easy targets because this incident that happened is proof that sometimes people pick the wrong person to mess with. We have a received a footage showing an 82-year-old man fighting off a immigrant who tried to attack him in his car. The elderly man was defending from the younger man...

Andrew Pollack, whose daughter Meadow was brutally murdered in the Parkland school massacre, put this election in the proper perspective as one between Joe Biden, who would put the safety of our kids and our country at risk for the sake of ideology, and Donald Trump, who would protect both. Pollack rightly condemned liberal Democratic policies in general for putting the students at Parkland and elsewhere in danger by pursuing social justice and social engineering policies that protect those who would do us harm and not allow us to protect ourselves. It is the same mindset of those who today...

From a Fox News report of Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson’s press conference: When an armed school resource officer entered the room, Pierson believed he was cornered and turned his gun on himself, Robinson said. The entire attack lasted approximately 80 seconds and was captured by security cameras. Sounds like that SRO stopped what could have possibly been a much bigger tragedy. It’s a result that we expected, based on our own independent testing of school shooting scenarios. If that armed resource officer hadn’t been present, it would have taken even more time for the police to arrive and stop...

On Wednesday, Corrections Commissioner Marshall Fisher approved immediate suspension without pay of a correctional officer charged in a kidnapping, armed robbery and homicide that occurred in Jackson on Saturday morning. Fisher learned after Andre Kennedy's arrest that Kennedy is one of 520 officers working at Central Mississippi Correctional Facility in Rankin County. Kennedy, 22, was hired in January 2014. He is charged with capital murder, robbery and kidnapping in a case involving an Eastover homeowner. His partner in crime was shot and killed in what police are calling justifiable homicide. Hinds County Coroner identified the deceased suspect as 23-year-old Edwin...

In a time where sexual assault is on the rise at American universities, it's important to curb this trend by effective means. How can universities best address and eradicate the threat of sexual assault on campus? Allow concealed carry on campus. Seven states–Wyoming, Montana, Florida, Texas, Indiana, North Dakota, and now South Dakota–are considering legislation to permit concealed carry at universities. As more Americans channel support for gun rights over gun control, legislation to repeal gun-free zones and permit concealed carry should be deliberated in more states. Universities are gun-free zones, which make them prime targets for criminals. Evidence shows that...

Victims of the Rwandan Genocide were mostly killed with Machetes I was reading an unsigned disarmenter editorial in the yorkdispatch.com.   As is common when a disarmenter does not have a real argument, I could not find a way to comment at the site.   The editorial had some telling statements: Gun laws tend to bring out the fanatic in some people. These are smart folks who can be perfectly reasonable about other issues. But mention common-sense legislation to curb gun violence, and they start frothing at the mouth. They'll tell you about their "cold, dead fingers" and how "only the...

Full Title: A subreddit dedicated to cataloging incidents in the United States where legally-owned guns are used to deter or stop violent crime. Rules are few, but important: Posts should primarily be direct links to news articles describing the incident. Articles regarding defensive gun use statistics are also welcomed, as are stories of DGUs gone wrong, or incidents where the defensive gun user had no business pulling the trigger. Copy the headline from the article. Don't make stuff up or editorialize. Note the city/state if it's not part of the article's title, like this: (Birmingham, AL) Note the date of...

Guns Save Life and their honcho John Boch have made plenty of news in the last few weeks. And a few waves, too. They’re the group that raked in thousands by hauling a load of busted junkers up north to Mogadishu on Lake Michigan, all to fund an NRA gun camp for kids. But not everyone was amused. So when the Champaign-Urbana area – that’s Guns Save Life’s back yard – held their own buyback yesterday (final tally: 104 guns collected), they were braced for a repeat performance. Here’s John’s account of one participant’s experience . . . The former...

EAST NAPLES — A clerk at a landmark East Naples corner store shot and killed a man Tuesday as he attempted to rob the family-run shop and flee with her 1-year-old daughter. The man, whose name was not released, demanded money from Elizabeth Easterly, a clerk at Del’s 24 Hour Food Store, and then grabbed a stroller that held Easterly’s baby, said Del Ackerman, the store’s owner and Easterly’s grandfather. Easterly, 22, was alone during a shift change, running the shop with her 1- and 2-year-old daughters there, Ackerman said. “I almost lost my two babies,” Ackerman said of his...

Mike Mette, until recently a Chicago police officer, is scheduled to begin serving a 5-year prison sentence. His crime? According to the judge's ruling, Mike threw one punch at an angry drunk who chased Mike down the street and attacked him verbally, physically, repeatedly. Few tragedies make their victims feel more helpless than multiple-victim shootings. Imagine the terror: Unable to escape, simply waiting for the killer. Virginia Tech’s just released report on how to stop future tragedies was pretty disappointing, and this coming week’s Virginia Governor’s task force report isn’t likely to be any better. The university proposes more counseling ... But one glaring omission remains: The report failed to ask whether there were any common features or similarities among the different multiple-victim public shooting tragedies. And what happens if these policies fail? Should there be some ultimate protection upon which the university can...
