Surinamese Deepak Kalpoe, 21, arrives to court in Oranjestad, Aruba, Friday, Aug. 26, 2005. Aruban police arrested Kalpoe and his brother Satish, 18, along with a third person according to government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg, saying he doesn't know if the arrests are connected to the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. When I grow up I want to be available for hire for the rent a mob of the week. /sarc

Honestly, don't these people have a life. I don't quite but almost feel sorry for Cindy S. SHe's a pawn in a game by Satan and has no idea, she's not really the one getting the glory. She like the Vandersloots have no idea what they do to harm others.

When I listened to PVDS talking about teaching his son to always tell the truth, I thought of the oath he must have taken as a judge-in-training to uphold Aruba's laws (such as they are) and then he goes out gambling with his underage son and, judging by pictures I've seen, allows his underage son to drink alcohol in his presence, too, thereby breaking the laws he was supposed to uphold.

That reminds me of the description of Joran going over to Beth who was sitting in the car, in a very frustrated voice saying to her something along the lines of: "What can I do now?" or "What do you want me to do now?"

That sounds as if it was out of his hands at that early point in the story.

I know Beth has described him as being extremely arrogant towards her that night, so much the opposite of what Croes described. I don't know how to reconcile the two views. I don't doubt either description but they are hugely different. I don't know if it's because he could play Croes who didn't challenge him as Beth did or if he truly was scared as Croes described and reacted defensively to Beth.

LOL!!!! You've been holding down the fort for the past two evenings and thank you. The tremendous tragedy of devastating hurricane, requires most of our attention at the moment, but we need people to continue to keep an eye on the Holloway story.

I do check these threads daily though I don't always comment. Keep up the good work! : )

I had noticed that difference in their accounts of Joran's behavior and wondered why.

I've thought perhaps Joran has some fear of Charles Croes and would behave differently with him. I can imagine CC asking questions in a calm, but direct manner. I've read some of CC's post on the Aruba website going back before Natalee disappeared. CC has a diplomatic, gracious, friendly style. He strives to represent the best of Aruba. If you've seen his interview with Greta, then you've seen his piercing eyes and the serious, professional manner. I think those are two sides of CC that we've seen. One is the Aruba business man and the other a go-to-man for local information with a bit of detective work.
I think there is more to CC than we know.

I know at one point that meeting at the VDS home became heated. If it was around this time when Beth confronted Joran, then Joran might have been past his 'good boy-I just want to help' routine and had become arrogantly irritated.

So if CC's conversation with Joran was before tempers flared and Beth's confrontation with Joran was during tempers flaring, that could explain the differing descriptions of Joran that night.

A thought on CC and Shango. Some have said Shango must be someone with inside info on other people's secrets, like a priest. I think a cell phone company owner might have some access to other peoples secrets, if he so desired. Whoever Shango is, he doesn't want to blow his cover. A cell phone company owner seems like a good cover and a good information highway all at the same time.

"Thank God for Nancy who NEVER forgets the victim."

Hi Canadian Outrage~ I don't mind Nancy either. I think she is so passionate due to her own victim status. She truly does care about the victims of crimes.

Speaking of victims, I just read a thread about the hurricane victims. According to the thread, there are actually thousands of un-reported deaths in Mississippi. Unbelieveable and so sad. It sounds far worse than words can describe.

The water is still rising in New Orleans - Up to 20 feet was just reported on Fox radio. I fear for those people's lives and don't understand why they haven't been taken to higher ground. They've been in the Superdome since Sunday with no sanitation or electricity. The City is sinking with people trapped inside or on their house tops. Only God knows just how many are clinging to hope as they wait to be rescued. How ironic that the two states of Natalee's Mom and Dad, were hit by this monster of a storm.

Prayers for all who have been affected by this horrible tragedy.

Thanks, now I know where my donations are going...

On Drudge it said :

" The Pentagon late Tuesday ordered five Navy ships and eight maritime rescue teams to the Gulf Coast to bolster relief operations as worsening conditions overwhelmed the initial response."

This is a NATIONAL disaster. God Bless America!!

Samaritan's Purse seems to be a charity where most of the money goes to the cause...do you know for sure?

Ohhhh Fritzy! FEMA and I have been to blows already! Over "wind-driven" rain, no less. They are crooked as they can be.

I was also thinking of my bank (of America) as a responsible source to give. But if not them, my church and the Salvation Army. I knew about the incomplete reporting. We received "Wise Giving Guide" until it went defunct.

Thanks for the input! Good advice.

RS - That was a good rant, do you feel better? I know I do! I've had the same thoughts, too.

A LOCAL SPORTSCASTER SUGGESTED WHEN WE HAVE THE SAINTS' GAME AT OUR ALAMODOME ON 9-24 THAT WE SELL TICKETS FOR $50 EACH AND DONATE EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR TO THE PEOPLE OF N.O. AND THAT WE DONATE THE USE OF THE DOME AS WELL! WOULDN'T THAT BE AWESOME?

This is an excellent charity.. again.. Christian based with a ton of truly hard workers involved... I bet in a few years, once they are better known.. they will be right up beside the Salvation Army...

I am not sure of the admin cost, for they usually do not take any tax based funding.. so I have not had the honor of reviewing their books..

For more info.. years ago I helped develop a complete accounting/inventory system for Guidestar.org ... in Williamsburg Va...it has most of the U.S. 501(c)(3)s (not for profit charities) listed with some financial records and some outcomes.. the surface information is free.. enjoy...

At the present.. I am working on economic development and democracy building efforts in the Middle East and No, Africa.. so I am really getting an eye full of how we spend our tax based funds abroad...

Cheers!

We really need to work on FEMA.. it is a terrific concept.. but like so many governmental programs.. the results never match the concept...we get excited about FEMA in the midst of a disaster.. but then when nothing is happening, we forget about them and they continue along their known path.. i.e. lots of money, lots of positive/paid for PR,lots of staff following the bouncing ball..

This can be said of a million programs..and organizations..

By the way, the Bank of America is a terrific charitable partner.. but again.. the measurement of results is truly missing...

You may want to visit the Guidestar.org site for some initial info...

Agreed Fritzy! I will not donate to the Red Cross after the 9-11 fiasco. I'm leaning towards donating to the Salvation Army, however I'd like my donation to go directly to the Victims. Does anyone know of a religious organization or church down there who will directly help these poor folks?

Monkey Maniac

guys, a leak has been attributed to beth twitty and the defense attorneys are livid....the leak is regarding the girls' idenity...she may face some kind of action to revoke her victim privlidges....does not mean a judge will agree.....]

Also, the hearing to determine if Joran can be held another 30 days is about to start. MSNBC has reporters outside the courthouse. Joran has not been brought to the courthouse yet.

Two early morning thoughts..

Certainly the Salvation Army and Samaritan Purse... appear to be viable and results oriented..

Why not place your gifts aside until the first wave of fever subsides.. then see what is really needed... I believe there are enough resources to meet all basic/ emergency needs at this point.. but how to coordinate and get the services to the people appears to be the issue and that is not $$$ based.. once you know the long term needs you can select an organization that matches the demonstrated/documented need.. that may be exactly where you want your gift to work for the people..

Once the organized effort is underway.. specific long term work will begin and that is when I believe they will need assistance.. not as glamorous.. but a reality...

Have a Terrific Day
