I’ve been looking for this statute for ages! Somebody posted it on another thread and I wasn’t able to find it again.
To me, if it says “The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:...” it’s defining what qualifies as a natural born citizen. Unfortunately, it looks as if BO would qualify even if he were shown to have been born outside the US, simply because his mother was undeniably a citizen and had lived here two years after the age of 14. I think the law when he was born required 5 or possibly even 10 years, however, so he wouldn’t have been a natural born citizen under that definition (since she was only 17 or 18 when he was born). I wonder if the fact that he didn’t qualify at the time of his birth would have any effect on him now, after the law has changed?

Mama Sarah was not Obama Sr.’s Mother. She was like the 3rd wife or so of Sr.’s father. Someone else in this thread figured out that if she was present at Obama Sr’s birth she would have only been about 12 years old or so.
I guess plausible, but highly doubtful.
Lavendar was the name of the British Registrar who recorded the birth in 1961. This document is an extract taken from the Register Book of Births taken in 1963, that is why the Lavendar name is typed. Orly has a picture of Mr EF Lavendar on her website.

New Zealanders and Australians would be stunned to learn that they can obtain their birth records from London. Canadian records are not forwarded and Canada had the same constitutional standing as NZ & Oz - & Oz is way more independent than Canada. What time period are you talking about? What department/agency in the UK did you get your NZ & Oz birth certificates from?
