It sounds like the plot of some brain-dead Hollywood comedy that has already been made too many times:
Movie executive: OK, here’s an idea. You know those geniuses who Jay Leno used to interview on the street who couldn’t answer basic questions like who the vice president is, or what Columbus Day celebrates? Well, what if someone like that ran for Congress and actually won? How funny would that be!
Producer: Great! We’ll get Amy Schumer or Lena Dunham to play the lead!
Executive: No, I said it’s supposed to be funny.
Yes, you’ve seen some version of this before. It was basically “The Distinguished Gentleman,” and “Legally Blonde 2,” and now it’s been rebooted for the millennial generation in the form of “Ms. Ocasio-Cortez Goes to Washington (If She Can Find It).”
But this version is less funny than the originals (which says a lot) because it’s actually happening. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a twenty-eight-year old community organizer… or something (actually, it’s unclear even from her own website what exactly she does for a living, though she was a bartender less than a year ago)… and of the almost 700,000 people in New York’s 14th congressional district, about 15,000 of them decided for everyone else that she is the most qualified person to represent them in Congress. And though that was just a primary election, there is no doubt she will win November’s general election, because she’s a Democrat and 110% of the voters in her district are also Democrats. (I added the extra 10% to account for fraudulent voters and dead people, though that’s probably a conservative estimate). All that remains is her coronation.

Perhaps we might begin by re-examining the Founders' ideas of the role of the Executive in the American Republic framed by the written Constitution:

My mother worked on Capital Hill around 1940. She told me she knew a congressman, an ex-ward heeler from Boston, that could neither read nor write. On important votes he always voted the way the party whip told him. She said he wasn’t basically stupid though.
They ALL do that, with the exception of a small few Republicans that view themselves as mavericks.

Anyway, every time an extremist like Ocasio-Cortez is minted, things look better for us “normals”. It’s intergenerational too; Fauxcahontas Warren is my age and that’s old! Then there’s Comrade Bernie; he and Lenin were pals once.
And no one among the Dems says, “we’ve got to knock off the socialist class warfare identity group politics. It’s getting us nothing but higher ratings for Trump.” Maybe they’ve already been silenced.

She graduated from BU, academic home to Howard Zinn. Back in 1994 we used to say that if wasn’t for Joey Buttafuoco right now Amy Fisher would be a sophomore at BU.
AOC’s primary victory was the result of a Hare vs. Tortoise race in which the Hare (Joe Crowley) barely campaigned because he was so certain of victory, and the tortoise (AOC), a jobless young woman, had all the time in the world to recruit followers and promote herself door-to-door.
Since Mr. Crowley is now running against AOC as an Independent, he’ll likely be doing whatever it takes to retain his Congressional seat.
But if, when, AOC loses, we won’t be seeing the end of her. She’ll likely be given a position on a liberal network like MSNBC, where she’d be a perfect fit. In fact, she bears a striking resemblance to Rachel Maddow.

Joe Crowley is not actively campaigning on the WFP ticket. Through weird quirks in New York law, he can't be removed from the ballot unless he dies, moves out of the district, is convicted of a crime, or accepts another nomination in a different district. He has thrown his support behind AOC.
