ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

Hmpf. Ok, den.

I hope that other chair is still at the store when you go back. You need your own space, not one you have to share with Shannon!

Because there’s no sunbeam for her bed upstairs, Shannon is spending the day shedding in the living room, with an unbearably smug expression.

Ohno! Not the Smuggies!! Gack! I supposed she’s doing that from your new chair, too, yes?

She moved around, from the chair to the sofa to the windowsill ... always smugly leaving a patch of fur behind.

It’s that time of year.

Wow. At least on the windowsill, the hairs won’t be pulled out by the fabric...

I’m tired again, but I’ve done a lot of that the last couple of weeks.

It’s been hard to keep occupied today, because I can’t access the games I do daily to assess my mental ability. I will call tomorrow and see if someone can come out and do the tweaking that needs to be done so I can play the games. I missed Trivial Pursuit and the crossword today, and that was really hard.

I can do them tomorrow or whenever RAC sends someone out to tweak the system. :o[

You could read the dictionary, like Pat and Vlad. It’s full of vocabulary.

I have lots of things to read, but these days, I’m having problems with dyslexia because I’m so tired. Games help with that, especially “hidden object” games or things that need to be matched, like mahjong tiles.

So I miss the games in lots of ways.

And I’m going to bed. I will call the guy at RAC tomorrow, because his minions obviously either didn’t get the memo or decided to blow it off. I don’t like that at all.

Ohyes...while I had the smoke detector off the ceiling, I was able to tip it upside down to get the battery out. And the doggone thing kept chirping! LOL! Anyway, Carlos came and put it back up because I was afraid I would get dizzy on the step stool.

Ohboy. Do I ever need that this morning. I was rudely awakened at 0330 this morning by an Amber Alert on my phone, and those things can’t be deleted until the alert is over.

I was able to go back to sleep, but still, that wasn’t much fun.

Now, I’ll just be trying to fill the hours until RAC opens and I can get Adobe Flash Player installed. I wish I knew how to do that on Win 8.1.

I don’t think the stripy kitten is going to let you hug his pet. He looks very fierce!

We’ll be going to the gym soon. Then we’ll go to the library. Kathleen has two more “Catwings” books in. Then we’ll stop by Consignment 1st and see if the second brown chair is still there. I’ve decided I wants it. (One for me, one for Shannon.)

I’m going to Home Depot later to look at flowery plants for my mother. I know she wants/needs some for her garden and I thought that might be nicer than a bouquet for Mother’s Day.

Or a gift cert so she can get her own. I don’t know what she wants. I was thinking pansies, but I’m just not sure.
