ISIS Surrenders in face of Climate Change Conference

Raqqa, Syria

Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the leader of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, also known as ISIS, announced today that he would be disbanding all forces and returning all land to Syria and Iraq. The move was prompted by the ongoing Climate Conference in Paris.

"This is one thing we could not have anticipated," Mr. al-Baghdadi said in prepared remarks. "When we see the world coming together like this on such a dangerous subject as Global Climate Change, we realize that our Caliphate will never survive. It's only a matter of time before Climate Change is no more and the world's attention turns to us. At that point, we will have no chance. For the sake of the men, women, and children who have supported us, I can not continue a doomed campaign."

An emotional al-Baghdadi did not take any questions.

Sources close to al-Baghdadi who spoke on the condition of anonymity told us that it was becoming more and more difficult to recruit new fighters. "Even our existing people are extremely demoralized," one said. "The words of Donald Trump himself can not overcome our dispair."

According to their press release, surrender is total and immediate. Fighters are being paid and sent home by division. Any remaining money will be put into a fund to resettle Christians and Yazidis who have been displaced by the war.

"We thought the world was fragmented," one strategist was overheard saying to himself. "Who knew it could come together like this? This is a stinging rebuke."

So far there has been no comment from Damascus, Baghdad, Moscow, or Washington. One source inside the Kremlin said, "We are waiting to see if there will be any follow-up action. We want to make sure this is real before we decide on our next steps."

"I’m reaching that time of day when my attention wanders all over creation ..."

You say that as if it's a bad thing. That's what I do all day.

I figure it's like a prerequisite for being a poet. I might not be wanting to "seize the day", but I'm keeping my eye on it.

Good idea. Something could be sneaking up on you.

I'm off to the Cub Scouts planning meeting.

The claws are a nice touch. I’m off to Walmart in a minute.

"The claws are a nice touch."

I've been touched by such claws. If you have to reach out and touch someone, claws are the way to go.

You scream and you leap; (if you want to be polite, that is).

Shannon caught a bird this morning. Sally rescued it and took it out in the woods, where it will either recover or not.

I’m going to go walk in a minute, just because I can. The wind is blowing and it’s 88 degrees, but it’s just getting light out.

I need to go get my stitches removed today, as they are beginning to bother me. If I had a pair of nail scissors, I would do it myself, but all I have are embroidery scissors and the points aren’t small enough. I tried.

Never mind...they just came out...YAY, me! I’m so good! Evidently, I nicked the stitches in just the right spot. LOL!

That tape I got yesterday was good for almost all day, and then my finger began to itch. So in a way, it was a good purchase. SO I will keep a bandage on it during the day and take it off at night until it is fully healed.

Shannon is learning from Jake, eh?

The two of them probably comprise the feline edition of Murder, Inc.

Jake was out all night; he’ll sleep most of the day. Shannon is pleased with herself.

Back from my walk. I knew I waited too long (it’s light out) because when I was rounding the eastern end of the buildings, I came across an old guy in his boxers, doing something with his hose.

I hurried past, quietly, lest I disturb him. *shudder*

Anyway, I can feel the circulation in my legs, warming them up. :o]

So Shannon has that “cat-that-ate-the-canary” look, eh? I’ll bet she does! LOL! Nothing exudes smugness like a cat that is proud of a job well done.

The book I’m reading has two cats in it that seem to figure prominently, for some reason. Anyway, it’s getting pretty good, even though I only read for 30-45 minutes a night.

(Remind me, while I have it on my mind, not to make any decisions after 1200. That’s when the fatigue sets in, and I’m vulnerable. Thanks!)

I need to file a bunch of paperwork today. I haven’t done it in two months, and I need to get it off the chair and out of sight.

12:00 your time is 3:00 my time. I usually have the Crash by then, too.

I took a walk, too, since you were. A doe hopped across the sidewalk in front of me and trotted up Arbor Pointe Dr. through people’s front yards.

I like my walks when it’s just getting light out. No one is around. Of course, waiting just 15 minutes can be disastrous to the eyes of the uninitiated.

About all we see here are coyotes and the stray rabbit that the coyotes or the hawks haven’t found, yet. Of course, they are opportunists and not a bit choosy about cat or dog meals. Right up there with Ovomit in the menu dishes, of course.

I’m going to make myself a sign to remind me about the decision-making thing. It has gotten me into trouble in the past and I need to make sure it isn’t something I will continue to do.

I’ve been going earlier, between 5:30 and 6:30, but today was cooler and I wanted to get to Walmart first thing. We were out of cat food!

Usually it’s just birds, rabbits, and sometimes a squirrel.

On the way to Walmart, we saw a big black cat hurrying across the parking lot of the daycare center just outside the subdivision, with a Northern mockingbird dive-bombing it and shrieking (probably CAAAAAT! like Tom does).
