Years ago, I'd post a quarterly thread asking Freepers what they were reading now. I made mention of the fact that I thought Freepers had to have been some of the more well-read people on the 'Net. I have decided to resume that post.
What are you reading? It can be a best seller, a trashy pulp novel, a biography - heck even a technical journal. Just don't answer the post by saying "I'm Reading This Thread". It lost its originality a really long long time ago.
I'll start. I'm reading a classic biography from 1970. It's called "Huey Long" by T Harry Williams. It's a large and very well-documented bio about one of the more controversial figures in American politics. The author did extensive research and it shows in the book. I'd highly recommend it - and I'm only about 1/4 of the way thru it.
Well, what are you reading now?
“Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future”
I just finished “12 Rules for Life” - Jordan Peterson
Perfidia by James Ellroy
Dark Sun The Making of the Hydrogen Bomb by Richard Rhodes
“Commander in Chief” by Mark Greaney
“Python for Microcontrollers” by Donald Norris
..and a 1969 Dodge tech manual on the 318 industrial/truck engine..
I’m lucky if I can read Free Republic in between chores lol..

When we moved into this house we tossed 1250 pounds of books. I also seem to be a perpetual student, so reading is a significant part of my day. Going to bed a reading a book is not something I can ever do.
Planning to read A Gentleman in Moscow, but haven’t started yet. Do you think I could be investigated by Mueller if I do?

My favorite reading spot
Among the shifting books on my nightstand the collected Sherlock Holmes and Raymond Chandler are always there for when I’m tired and want to rest my head.
Five part historical fiction named “The Zion Chronicles” by Bodie Thoene. Centers around the months before the Brits pull out and Israel becomes a state. Interesting and some of the characters are real life folks. Funny thing is one of them is named Yassar Fatarr. Obviously Arafat. He was still alive when the book was written so.......
Just finished “Hill Billy Elegy: A Memoir of a Family” by J. D. Vance.
Rereading “ American Nations: A History of the Eleven Rival Regional Cultures of North America” by Colin Woodward.
Last night I finished Storm Front (The Dresden Files).
I liked it. I read that the series (15 books) really takes off in the third eBook so I bought #1, 2 and 3.
Ongoing (since 2015) nearly daily Bible commentary readings. Read at least one full commentary (every line usually commented upon)of each of the 24 books (Holy Scriptures to me, Old Testament to others).
Currently Psalms Anthologized From The Rabbinic Writings (Artscroll series). Previous example: a different 1,746 page fine print Psalms commentary 2 vol. set). I am humbled by the enormity of what I know I do not yet know!
//still reading Killing the Deep State by Corsi. Read Life of Yogananda, Occult America by Mitch Horowitz,UFOS In Wartime.
I don’t thiMk there is a book about it but an equally “Greatest Game Ever Pitched” was Harvey Haddix loss to Lew Burdette. Haddix pitched 12+ no hit innings and lost. The story was posted on FR a couple of weeks ago.
