He'd do better to promote a boycott on trips to rowdy tourist spots by groups of poorly supervised teenagers.
I totally support a boycott of sending naive high school students on week long, under chaperoned trips to party towns where it's all about gambling, booze, sex, and hanging out all night in seedy bars.
Send them to Six Flags, or even Disney World, or the State Fair.
I blame the parents. Divorce after the kids get into college. Excelling in morality and ethics is the exception not the rule for kids of broken families. She was hurting inside and acted out in Aruba. All accounts indicate she was behaving very recklessly there.
Transparent to me. Van Der Sloot's father is a big shot judge there. PLUS Aruba relies on tourism. If kids go missing there and it's found they were raped, murdered and fed to the sharks off the northern island, it might quell visits to the place. Bad for business. The Aruban authorities want nothing more than for this to go away. I support the boycott and keeping it in the face of the public as long as possible.
It seems like, no matter what has happened in the investigation so far, unless this girl's body ever turns up (unlikely) or one of the suspects cracks (even more unlikely), this case will never be resolved.
Furthermore, a boycott and foreign pressure would just give the defense the ability to scream "politically motivated prosecution" in any trial.
I'm all in!

Still, the name Aruba does not leave a pleasant taste in the mouths of Americans looking for vacation spots. Let us hope that will have a nice economic impact. I want those who mess with us to feel our united economic wrath.
And to those who say don't punish the good people because of a few bad apples? I say there are thousands upon thousands of Islanders, NOT from Aruba, who wantneed our coin and are willing to go out of their way to earn it. If not, screw them too. We don't need them. Stay home where you know the system.
